Oh, and question: Angel wants forgiveness. From whom? God? Buffy? Everyone he's ever wronged? Sounds like an endless quest to me. until he can forgive himself he wont believe it from anyone else, god included. once he does forgive himself he'll just get annoyed when other people dont forgive him. if forgiving himself is even possible, considering the extent of what he did.

Oooh! Thank you be! That idea went "Click!" in my brain (while "duh" echoed in the emptiness there.) And yes, I think that makes it even more of an endless quest than I was originally thinking. Linda, thanks you again

OMG, it’s the eighth week of the 2006 Sizzlin’ Episode Festival! Do you know what that means?!
Can? Open! Worms? Everywhere! Time to celebrate the 3rd most requested Angel episode – In the Dark! But she has to pay! Invoice! That’s the rule of our whole, like, society! Buffy wanted you to have it. Caught me fair and square, White Hat. I guess there is nothing to do now but to go along quietly and pay my debt to society. Creatures with souls have something to lose. He’s very pale. Paler than most people. Doyle: So what, you don’t get the ring because your period of self-flagellation isn’t over yet? I mean, think of all the daytime people you could help between 9 and 5. Angel: They have help. The whole world is designed for them, so much that they have no idea what goes on around them after dark. They don’t see the weak ones lost in the night, or the things that prey on them. And if I join them, maybe I’d stop seeing, too.
Want to read Erin’s excellent Angelphile analysis of In the Dark?
Want to comment on that analysis?

Spike's commentary is one of the classic moments early in the season. JM just steals every scene.
Oz was outstanding. It did seem he was coming out of his shell a little more in this episode than he has done in BtVS.
Spike has a way of Mentally torturing Angel, because he knows he can get on his every last nerve. LOL

Spike's bit at the beginning has got to one of the few if not the only times that Spike's "I'm the big bad" speech doesn't get undercut somehow. Of course, we get that undercutting later in the episode when his head gets set on fire with the sunlight.
