I agree, and this is one of the many upsetting things about Season 7. Obviously, there was something important, whether that be good or bad, about souled vampires to the First. But it wasn't even remotely explained. We still have no clue why Spike was tortured, why he was a sleeper, and what the First's "plans" were for Spike. I was just thinking about this the other day and realized how much richer of an understanding you get when you watch both Buffy and Angel. It occurred to me that the Shanshu prophecy, while never mentioned on Buffy, went a ways to explaining why Spike was run through the wringer by TFE. Wesley says: "Well... it means it won't happen tomorrow or the next day... he has to survive the coming darkness, the apocalyptic battles, a few plagues and some...several...not that many fiends that will be unleashed upon the world." It could apply to either, true, but the Angel gang really hasn't faced world ending apocalypses like they have on Buffy, except with Jasmine this year.

You're right lparish, Angel says that the Mora demon succeeded in taking out a warrior for the good PTB side. That as a human, Angel was no good to them. That's why they did the time fold thing.
If a souled vampire is a threat to the evil PTBs, there will be all kinds of exciting fights when Spike arrives and there are two.
I am worried about W&H/evil PTBs controlling Angel with both Cordelia and Connor. He decided to take the W&H deal to give Connor a new life. I'm sure they believe he will cooperate with them to keep them safe.
Will the good PTBs fight the evil ones to keep Angel as a champion for good?

While I hate to interrupt anyone's chat, and I certainly hope no one is about to be locked out from a post they're currently writing, we're pretty darn close to that magic number of 500.
Part 26 is open and waiting for your insights!

I am hoping Joss will answer some of our questions in regards to Spike with the new season of Angel. Like maybe W&H will have had some background info. on the firsts plan, and that's why they knew to use the necklace amulet thing.

This is why I'd never want to be God. However, totalitarian dictator of a small, island republic, I could go for that! Or, Ruler of the World! I like that too! TOP 10 THINGS I'D DO IF I RULED THE WORLD: (not in order) 1. BUFFY: Season 8 (imagining a Hellmouth in Pepper Pike or Shaker Heights, suburbs of Cleveland) 2. Osama Bin Laden & Saddam Hussein found and tried (or killed in the process, I'm not too picky) 3. Everyone in poor countries suddenly decides to have only 2 children per couple; Pope also allows birth control 4. Blue Whales make a population comeback 5. Robert Wolfe reinstated on GENE RODDENBERRY'S ANDROMEDA, also Keith Hamilton Cobb as Tyr, with dredlocks 6. Summer never hotter than 75 degrees minimal humidity where I live 7. Never rains on Halloween 8. I get my own Stately Manor w/100 acres somewhere and lots of servants. No, I won't eat the servants (would stick in teeth anyhow) 9. World Premiere of LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING held at my house, Viggo Mortenson my personal guest for the weekend. 10. TAB available in restaurants and vending machines everywhere! Gail
