The Hollywood Reported says that her half hour show would debut on US TV in the autumn of next year.
She will also have a recurring role in the next series of "That 70's Show" playing a recruit at the police academy where Ashton Kutcher's character Kelso is studying.

But you have to earn respect, and while he may have earned it with the Scoobies, he hasn't with the Fang Gang yet. Yes they know what he did in Sunndydale, but he needs to prove himself to them. Spike earned 'respect' from the Scoobies? When? Which ones? Mary, beating a dead horse

I must confess, I am now more confused than ever about how to post pictures from other sites in the picture contest. Would it be possible for those techno-competent souls who have posted info/advice on how to do it and avoid bandwith theft to put those posts on one thread, perhaps one of the Picture contest threads?
I'm glad that the bandwith theft from the labrynth site was apologized for and the picture found from somewhere else with permission. We have responsible people here, as well as savvy techno-pagans!!!

[glow=green,2,300]GAIL [/glow] Gail, there is a thread with info on posting pictures - there are two in fact. They will both be updated and made accurate within...minutes! *smile* (they are the info thread for the picture contest, and a thread on the top page inside the 'General Help' thread.)

I can't assume that from anything I saw on air. But, as Rob has already pointed out, people see the same scene and interpret it differently. For Rob (I think it was you) and someone else who said they wish we'd seen Spike and Xander have a beer together - I could not agree more. That scene would have meant so much to so many... If we couldn't have an actual acknowledgement between the two of their individual importance to the gang, and to Buffy, I would have loved to have seen the 'I don't really like you, but let's have a beer anyway' scene. Wait! I think I mentioned that in one of the last chapters of a certain fanfic!!!!!!! ;D Mary

Off to meet the girls for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Keeping fingers crossed that my internet service is back up when I get home. If I have to go thru the weekend without it, I'm gonna be sooooooo pissed. But they told me 24 - 72 hours, which makes no sense, since all they basically have to do is flip a switch. So no worries if you all don't hear from me all weekend. Just means I can't get online.

I found nearly the same picture on another site and have e-mailed the webmaster for permission to use it. No recall yet! That particular pic of Nick Brendon can be found in a hundred different places. It's been around for several years. Not that I have an opinion on all the business that went on over it...I don't understand the techno issues. The pic itself is extremely popular (understandably so) to Xander's female fans. And Larry. Larry digs it too.

Spike earned 'respect' from the Scoobies? When? Which ones? Mary, beating a dead horse The horse ain't dead yet as far as I'm concerned!
I still enjoy Xander's 'Respect the cruller and TAME the donut!' joke on OMWF, btw. I would have responded to the issue of Angel/Spike earlier today when it was brought up, but didn't have time to post.
It's been claimed that:
1. Spike shouldn't expect respect from the Fang Gang because they don't know him and have only Angel's word, which they trust, on Spike's character and background. Okay, I'll accede to this point. I don't think I ever criticized the Fang Gang; they do take their cue from Angel and don't know much about Spike. And Angel is the leader of the Fang Gang and now W&H's CEO; his is the ultimate responsibility. I think that when Spike first reappeared, frightened and confused, in Angel's office, Wesley tried to calm him and said "no one is going to hurt you". If my memory's correct, Good for Wes! 2. Angel has terrible problems and pressures to deal with now; he just lost his son, etc., so he shouldn't be faulted for not bothering with Spike. Yes, Angel is under tremendous pressure and he has suffered a tremendous loss. However, his considerable love and affection for Cordy did not prevent him from hoping for flirtation/romance with the pretty blonde werewolf-girl three weeks after Cordy went into a coma. And he KNOWS that Spike fought evil at Buffy's side and died to save her and the world. Would he treat Robin Wood the same way if Wood turned up as a ghost and Buffy had told him Wood fought with her against the First? How much time would it take Angel to delegate help for Spike's condition and someone to hang around him and offer companionship and the use of the telly? Fifteen minutes? Maybe a half-hour at the most? If, however, Angel HAS delegated someone or some department to work on restoring Spike's corporeality, then he gains some credit in my eyes. I can't replay the last two episodes, did Angel say that he had put anyone to work on helping Spike? I don't remember any such comment... 3. Spike is isolating himself from everyone by being snarky. He's not worthy of the Fang Gang's respect, he has to earn it. He's lied to Fred to manipulate her into helping him. He has never fought evil because it's the right thing to do, he's only done so to impress or protect Buffy. First of all, where does it say that the Fang Gang ONLY protects saints? I thought they helped the innocent and the helpless. Spike is not innocent, but he has been a warrior on the side of heroes, and died to save the world. And he's helpless and alone. I would think that might qualify him for at least a "how are you holding up, Spike" query from Angel instead of a 'Shoo!' directive. The Fang gang took in Darla and were kind to her when she came to them, pregnant, for help, they didn't just lock her in a room with some blood bags and ignore her. And Darla was a soulless evil vampire who had recently deliberatly killed dozens of people, not to mention wounding Buffy's mother (and framing Angel for it) and attacking Buffy in the past. I never thought that someone who had died as the Slayer's ally would have to get respect from the Fang Gang as a requirement to be helped or even treated with the same respect they give Harmony, who was given refuge and employment despite her having tried to kill/vamp the Fang Gang a few years ago. Spike's lies - Frankly, if I was helpless and alone and in danger of being sucked into Hell, and the scientist who was my best shot for surviving had a lot of other projects ahead of me, I would probably lie too if I thought it would help me. Note that the lie he told Fred, i.e. having a prior connection to Wesley, was not directly related to his very serious predicament and was not a lie that could forseeably harm Fred in any way. Angel is still perceived as a hero and he perpetrated a far bigger lie than Spike's lie about Angel - Connor's entire life and all that it affected. Angel's decision warped the memories of the Fang Gang who admired and trusted Angel - without their consent, and their characters might have been altered as well because of Connor's removal from the universe. I am not saying that Angel was wrong to save his child, but he helped perpetrate a huge lie that affected at least five other people, without their consent. Regarding Spike's heroism - Spike is still learning to be a hero. I don't see why anyone can say that he doesn't deserve respect because of his motives for risking and then deliberately sacrificing his life to save the world - the truth is, he laid down his life to fight Evil. Though the Fang Gang doesn't know the particulars, I believe that Angel does. Angel should realize that Buffy might well have died in that battle if not for Spike's choice to bear the amulet. As I said, or at least touched on before, Angel was not a shining light of heroism when he began his career as a champion of good. Don't forget that a few years after Angelus became the souled vampire Angel, he went running back to his vampire family in China and tried to be an evil vampire again. How can anyone fault Spike's lack of compassion towards a werewolf when Angel exhibited not one ounce of compassion towards the Slayer who Spike killed? Unlike Spike now, Angel had the power to try to stop Spike from killing her; but he was trying to be an evil vamp and didn't even voice disapproval. When Angel was presented with the choice of whether or not to drain a baby, he saved the child. When Spike was given the choice of whether or not to betray Angel and get his body, he double-crossed the necromancer and so helped Angel. Unlike newly souled and even unsouled Spike, Angel did not rush out to do good deeds and help the helpless. He spent decades wallowing in despair and self-pity. And when the Powers finally took an interest in him, they were kind enough to send first Whistler and then Doyle to provoke Angel to get out of the alley and into Buffy's life, and later to further jog Angel into active heroism. In AtvS Season One, Doyle was there to first galvanize Angel, who was, I believe, brooding in a bar, into being an active hero, and then encourage Angel to continue the thankless task of being a hero. Cordelia was added to the fledgeling Fang Gang. Angel had help and support and admiration during his journey towards fulltime heroism. Spike had the contempt of the Scoobies, an eventual grudging acceptance by them, and the friendship of Dawn, and finally, for a few months, love and trust and faith from Buffy. Now Spike has nothing and no one. Angel knows what it's like to struggle and stumble on the path to heroism - he should empathize with Spike, who is still at an early point in the same journey. But Angel is too busy being the corporate CEO and Buffy's jealous ex-boyfriend to give Spike even a moment of encouragement. We rightly regard Angel as a hero; but he has repeatedly stumbled and fallen on that path, though he has had a hundred years longer than Spike to get used to being a souled vampire. How can Spike, who unlike Angel did not have a secretary/cheerleader and Powers' emissary to encourage him on the path of righteousness, be faulted for not being a gung-ho self-sacrificing hero now, when he is physically helpless and emotionally alone and in peril of his existence, when Angel didn't even try to be a hero for so many decades? While not being heroic, Spike still managed to help Angel in JUST REWARDS, when it would have been much easier to betray him and steal his body to regain the corporeal existence he craved. I still regard Angel as a hero; and I have always enjoyed his TV series. But I hope we see more of his heroic side soon. And I don't think Spike is undeserving of Angel's, or anyone's respect and compassion. Yet apparently Angel can't be bothered to even say a kind word to Spike, or make sure that some of W&H's resources are being channeled to help him. I lost the color. Bummer....Couldn't put the text back into color. GAIL
