Welcome to Phase 1 of the S’cubie Cutie awards! S’cubies! This summer, as we wait for the new Television season, we’ll while away some time with our own awards show! Yes, I present to you: The First Annual S’cubie Cutie Awards! Who will The Cutie go to? To decide that, the first thing we need is potential nominees in the categories listed in the next post. And for that, your input is needed – see Q&A’s below: How do I make my suggestions? Post to this thread to make your suggestions. You are encouraged to campaign for your favorite by singing praises, posting pictures, groveling, bribing Spring, and anything else you can think of! When is the deadline for these preliminary nominations? Sunday, June 19, 2005 – midnight EST. Sunday, June 12 - midnight EDT. Do I have to make suggestions in all categories? No, you can make suggestions in one category, or in all 16, or anything in between. But you are encouraged to try all categories! Go for it! Can I make more than one suggestion in a category? Yes, you most certainly can. If someone has already suggested my favorite, should I suggest it (or him, or her) too? It isn’t necessary – but it is a good idea to join in the campaign to see your favorite chosen as a final nominee! The more interest is expressed, the more compelling arguments are made, the more bribes are offered, the better chance your favorite has to be chosen, as a final nominee, by the judge(s)! Judge(s)? What judge(s)? That would be Spring, and perhaps a partner, if she can talk anyone into joining her in judging which entries to choose as final nominees. (IM Spring if you are interested in helping with that task.)Which shows are eligible? Any show which aired new episodes during the 04/05 Television Season. What happens after these preliminary nominations are closed on June 19th? Spring (and possible partner in crime) will count the bribe money evaluate each potential nominee on its merits. That evaluation will be based on her (their) own limited knowledge omniscience, and on the virtues of the suggested entry, as presented by its nominators. The popularity of the suggestion will be taken into account also. No later than the end of June, the final nominees will be announced, and a ballot will be IM'd to you so that voting can begin - everyone will get a chance to vote. By the end of July, the envelopes will be opened! How many final nominees will be in each category? No less than two, no more than four. What happens if you don’t get enough worthy nominations, or you don’t get any nominations, in a category? First, no way the S’cubies would let that happen. But just in case, the judge(s) reserve the right to delete a category, enter a nominee of their own choosing, or pretty much do whatever they think they need to do, to get this show on the road (i.e., the judges are as gods). What does The Cutie look like? Well, it’s very cute, natch: OK now, see the post below, and get to the nominating. Shamelessly pimp away!* *All S'cubies are encouraged to follow the fine example Karen will surely be setting in this area.

Awright, I'm gonna start things off... start 'em off small, but here we go: "Most shocking moment": the pan-back to reveal that Locke was sitting in a wheelchair in the Aussie travel agent's office. "Sexiest Actress": "Best Guest Star" I guess: Sela Ward on House. I've always had a thing for her.. (or should she be in a guest-actresss category?)

I really must agree with Matthew about the Locke wheelchair disclosure. Never saw it coming, unlike my second fave which was the end of Alias where you knew something was going to wreck the bliss, and it was only the suddenness that made you go "Wha?"
So yes, yes, yes on the Lock wheelchair disclosure.
I'll need some more time on the others, but this was a no-brainer and came to mind the second I saw the category.

Well, for "Best Kiss", I'm gonna have to nominate Gilmore Girls, for the Luke/Lorelai reconciliation kiss.
Why?
Luke Danes is smokin' hot.
Oh, that Lorelai woman is pretty cute, too, if you're in to that sort of thing.
It relieved tension that had been building for weeks, wherein we KNEW he wasn't really "out", and we just needed him to make it clear to Lorelai.
Did I mention the hotness of Luke?
Okay. I'll try to come up with more nominees, as well as more arguments for my own, but that'll do for now....

Because there surely has to be more than just one nominee for Most Shocking Moment, I feel compelled to nominate the Veronica/Logan kiss in WoCD. I never saw it coming and my jaw dropped.

Because there surely has to be more than just one nominee for Most Shocking Moment, I feel compelled to nominate the Veronica/Logan kiss in WoCD. I never saw it coming and my jaw dropped. I'll second that. I'd like to nominate for Most Shocking Moment the ending of the season finale of The West Wing - when Leo McGarry was chosen as the Democratic VP candidate to run with Santos. I never saw that one coming, either. I squeeed, and I don't squeee easily. Sexiest Actor: Naveen Andrews

Well, I'll start the voting on "Best Single Episode" for Veronica Mars' Leave it to Beaver. It did a great job of resolving the season's arc, and was exciting TV in and of itself.

Well, let's see . . . Nominating: Kristen Bell (VM) for Best Actress and Jorge Garcia (Lost) for Best Actor. Same reason for both. Range! They can do it all. How 'bout a few more . . . Best TV Series – Veronica Mars! It’s got arc, it’s got interesting case of the week, it’s got characters that do wonderful things, that stumble, that learn and grow and develop. Best Kiss – that hot moment between Sawyer and Sayid and then Jack joins them and . . . No, wait, these have to be ones that occur outside my head, right? OK, Veronica and Logan’s first one. Rae put it up for most shocking moment, so I’ll toss it in to another category. Because . . . whoa! Most Shocking Moment – Hmmmm. Since someone’s already suggested Locke’s wheelchair, I’m gonna suggest Caprica!Boomer firing on Adama on BSG. Damn! Last few minutes, heading into that long time between seasons, we already think we've seen every bit of twist and turn there is and . . . bam! Most Heartwrenching Scene – Hmmmm. Suggesting two. VM: Logan breaking down in Veronica’s arms in the hotel lobby when he realizes his mom really must be dead. Lost: Jack hearing about his dad from Sawyer. Will continue pondering the other categories.

Ooooh!
Thanks for this, Spring!
I would like to suggest Hugh Laurie (Greg House) as a nominee for Best Actor.
Somehow, he makes his character's asshattiness funny and vulnerable and intelligent and damaged and compelling. He's the reason I watch House so faithfully.
I like how wide the range of nominees are so far. I'll have a think about more nominations.
Thanks again Spring!
