Discuss! Looks to be a Gunncentric issue.

Not exactly Gunncentric, but there's definitely something up with him. And, uh oh. Not again!

I've never been a comic fan. I think I need the cliff notes version of a comic! Although I'm following Buffy 8 fine, with Angel: After the Fall I am not reading between the lines, or picking up on foreshadowing, or even following the basic plotting. Maybe I should wait for the omnibus edition, when the story will flow together better?

So, yay for showing us more about Angel and why he's not a vamp anymore. He's human! Using spells and what not to heal faster and from things that a human shouldn't be able to heal from. And he's using a glamor (that's they're running out of magic to do!) to hide all that messy heartbeat and body warmth stuff. And we see that he was sent to where he is now. So, was L.A. really sent to a hellish dimension, or is this a mirror L.A. in a hellish dimension? And what plans are Wes and Angel making, I wonder? Or is Angel implying that the plans are Wes' plans, and therefore possibly W&H's plans, not his? Angel wants out of hell, which I don't blame him for. And, presumably, wants to take all the other L.A. folk out too? And even though I don't believe one can "sign away" a prophesy, like the Shanshu, my first instinct is that this is not it. Seems far more like something done to work against him. But then again . . . the prophesy was always rather vague about things. Was the "vampire with a soul" guaranteed to turn human after all the fighting was done? Or is this another element to test him - to see "which side" he'll end up on, to see if he'll be tempted to find an easier way or to give up? I totally giggled when the " Angel" girls showed up again. (Not to mention Wes and his oh so droll "maybe it's time for me to walk into the light". But no, it's time for Angel to walk into the light blue Acura. Heeee! ;D) And Lorne?! Dude!! The suit! And the magic happy fun Silver Lake. It's interesting to start to see all the different demon zones. Spike holed up with wacked-out and time-riffing Illyria. Lorne creating his own, limited, haven. And really, how perfect is that as a Lorne place. Seems to be his natural element, making a safe place for others to be. And we're learning more all the time. W&H sent then there, but they're not in charge. So does that mean no one is in complete charge (fitting in with all the warring factions) or else there's a hidden "in charge" character or entity we've yet to meet. But it's Gunn that's intriguing me most of all. He's hot, he's cool, he's all temperature Gunn. He's a vengeful vamp, who wants to have a picture of a happy family. He's a loose cannon, with a vamp crew that thinks he's "messed-up". A self-proclaimed good guy who destroys the whole remaining W&H home base (can he really do that?) and makes them all stand in the fire. Is the building really gone? Did Wesley go with it? Will they both rise again if the Sr Partners step in? And finally. The Groosalug! OMG! Flying about on a winged horse, just as perky as ever. ;D

But I also think we're supposed to be a bit confused, just like the folks in L.A. hell. We're still getting info about what's going on and don't have all the pieces yet. Plus, I think Illyria still has some time change things swirling around her a bit. Either that or Spike is just a bit crazy still.

But I also think we're supposed to be a bit confused, just like the folks in L.A. hell. Thank goodness. I was feeling very confuzzled, and me with a perfect score on my English teaching certification. I do enjoy the whimsy...like Groo and the pegasus, and the dragon, and the sense of the big cast. But it does make me start crying for the moon....I can't have what I really want....

The writer has Groosalog speak down pat, too. Lorne is spot on, too. Lorne!!

Am also having problems with the continuity of this series. It always takes me two or three readings to GET it. I never believed Angel COULD sign away the prophesy. It's not like a mortgage, it's either yours to deal with or it isn't. The Shanshu wasn't under W&H's power, so they can't give or withhold; and it wasn't Angel's choice to have it or not. Hell, it might never have referred to Angel at all (anybody remember the OTHER souled vamp?). So that part of the contract has to be null.

I've never bought the idea he could sign away the prophesy either. 'Cuz, it's prophesy, not his choice. But, I'm still wondering about how and why Angel is human. Was it the Shanshu? Or are nefarious plots afoot? Or, you know, both. 'Cuz that Shanshu prophesy was always a very slippery bugger.
