Awwwww. Fred under the table. I love her slow return to this reality.
Jin!! Um. I mean, Gavin!
He's just such a complete sleaze.
I love how this ep is sort of a dry run for
Birthday so to speak. And the fact that this was an evil and false plot? Should have given us a clue about Cordy's later partial-demonizing.
Also? I
seriously love the early season 3 Wes and Gunn friendship thing. And how poor Angel looks a bit pouty at being left out.
So much excellent fic is set in this early season 3 golden team time. ;D
Oh, Gavin. You should never have tried to take on Lilah. "Love to have you on my team" indeed.
"Next to you, I am downright linear!"
"Has anybody ever told you you're exactly like lassie?
Cordy's reaction is very in-character. Denial at first, determined to just not be affected. But then, getting right to the heart of things. Why would TPTB do this? They wouldn't. Not because they aren't cruel in their own way sometimes, but this does not get them anything. And third, there's that underlying need to be needed.
Hey, it's Kumar-Kutner-Kal Penn! He's the guy in the fez with the exposed brain! I didn't remember that he played this role.
The plan that Lilah is trying shows that she does know Angel better than some of his other enemies at W&H - like Gavin, for example. She knows that hurting Cordy is a way to really get to him and keep him off base. However, she also doesn't know him in some ways. She always always underestimates just how violently he will react to being pushed.
The eternally burning prison cage? Seriously scary!
What they end up doing with Skip is a nice twist on the classic
Angel theme of "demon that actually isn't the bad guy". (Like the other demons they were taking the objects from earlier, the Chinese couple and so on.) 'Cuz that's what we think he is at this point, only - you know - he's really not.
Heh! "I commute. Not too bad, only 20 minutes."
Ah, the exchange at the car. Full of such classics as "pop goes the weasel" and "you're an evil bitch" and "it's just business" and the tire iron throw and "you play that card a second time and I'll kill you".
"It's not about winning, it's about what's at stake." Oh, if only they could all remember this in the decision points yet to come!!!!!
And here's Darla! Woot!! (Love the pregnant Darla arc. Love it!!)
"This is not meant to be known!"
"Yeah, yeah. Like I haven't heard that before."
