I am home! YAY! The drive was uneventful save for the part where everyone was suddenly booted off of I-77-S, and made to travel on OH-22-S for many miles, as an alternative route. I saw many small towns in NE Ohio. I think there was an accident, but I never did find out. I love you, SouthEast Ohio - where the ground shows, the temperatures are above freezing, the Green Mountains and the Great Lakes are a distant memory, and it stays light until the unbelievable time of 5:30PM! Yes, it is an altogether more reasonable latitude (39) around here. Having said that, I love VT, too. I had been in VT in the late spring, the summer, and the fall - but never the winter, and had never seen the mountains snow-covered. Very, very pretty. Cold, and pretty. Well, you got me curious so I went to a sunrise/sunset calendar and compared a bunch of cities at the same longitude but different latitudes Sunset in Athens today is 5:05 but in Manchester it is 4:17. BUT it's at 5 pm in Flint Michigan which pretty close to the same latitude as Manchester. I am forced to conclude that of the 48 minute difference between Athens and Man. only about 5 minutes of that is due to it being further north. Most of the time differential is due to them being close the next time zone to their east while you are fairly close to your next time zone to the west. (For example, continuing west Cinncinnati has a sunset time of 5:15, 10 minutes later than you, but they are nearly on the same latitude while Paris, IL, also on your latitude has sunset at 4:23.

My hair is filthy, and smells of...hair, you know, HAIR but it's about 65F in the house (and 32.1 outside, and trying hard to snow, with no actual build-up.
Julia, what a wimp.

Yeah, day length is where the real difference lies. Also, north of 45 there's a bigger difference north to south than south of 45; it took me hours of messing with a tilted globe and a spotlight to figure why one works, and I still can't make words for it. Julia, or "projects my good teachers figured out for me when I finished all the assigned work and was unable to sit still without going nuts."

Dude! You've made the banner ad change to Alvin and the Chipmunks. My banner was for Squirrel Trapping and Removal Experts: trapperjack.com Now it's for ADT Security (protect yourself from Alvin + buddies, I guess.

My son came up with a request for Christmas that surprised me - a copy of Dante's Divine Comedy. Is this a new video game or something?
