Oh, I got some quack quack quack about how tricky it is to check out at Amazon (which he does fine when he orders the whole family CDs and DVDs that he wants) but he did it, finally. But then he's running on lessmisery than Paul right now, and may actually be less of a piss-ant as a result. One of the worst thing about humans is their tendancy to act like total jerks when they're unhappy. ARGH, finals week! I don't think I had any time in my life when finals weren't sheduled in such a way that either special transportation or the ability to teleport was needed. Julia, Hey, take a nap after the shopping, maybe? Paul's been like this for some years now. He used to be better, but lately I think he's just gotten lazy. After I suggested slippers, he allowed as how he might not get his act together in time, and went back to playing solitaire on his notebook PC. I wouldn't mind so much if he wasn't also apparently averse to giving me money so I could do my own gift-buying. No naps until and unless there's someone else here to field the phone. Yes, there's an answering machine, but I can't not jump every time it rings. Which means that there are times when I am barely polite to importunate contractors who won't take "Sorry, we're not interested and besides, we're on the Do Not Call List" for an answer. Besides of which, I have to get the Albuquerque package out this week, and Daria's stuff because we're supposed to get together on Friday, and I haven't actually got it all organized let alone wrapped yet. Oh, crap, that reminds me, I have to get a package ready to be shipped. Damn. Julia, and then dye the belt blank for my sister and get the portfolios of photos sorted for family gifts.

My son came up with a request for Christmas that surprised me - a copy of Dante's Divine Comedy. Is this a new video game or something? Umm, actually.... Dante's Inferno Game Trailer

I woke up early today feeling tired and grumpy so I went back to sleep... and then woke up at lunch time feeling tireder and grumpier. Sleep malfunction. Boo.
And I can't try again cause then it would be evening.
I shall read a book instead.

I wrote a summary of the services and wake for Jan, here.I couldn't really do it justice in such a short summary, but if any of you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. That's lovely, Spring. Thank you for sharing it.

Surely somebody wants this for Christmas. Review here What "Logicomix" niftily demonstrates is how well the graphic novel form is suited to mounting sprightly explanations of abstract concepts.
...
This is a weighty, long-standing and possibly unresolvable debate, yet "Logicomix" delivers you smack dab in the middle of it with remarkable insouciance, by way of gothic Victoriana, "Alice in Wonderland" and a little adulterous intrigue. True, the book's treatment of Russell's ideas is far from detailed, and you won't come away from it with any logical expertise. But "Logicomix" succeeds at something far more rare, which is to coax, beguile and amuse the reader into thinking about the most momentous of questions with a light heart. As tools go, this one is definitely for the good.

Thanks, Matthew! The Circle of Life, from classic literature to classic sci-fi (I read Larry Niven's Inferno years ago, never Dante's, though) to video game and, hmmm, let's make that the Vector of Life, instead.

Thanks, Spring, for that lovely (and loving) summary. I know I already said so in IM but thanks for being here. And thanks too, Angelique, for posting Kathy's eulogy.

I only knew of it because a buddy of mine posted an exhange between his roommate and a friend of the roommate: "What's this 'Inferno' game based on, anyways?" "Some old poem, I think" It stuck in my head.

Julia, did finally get back to sleep sometime past 6am, ugh.
