I can't find a discussion thread about this, but futon critic and imdb say that it already aired, and anyway the DVD came out last year and I'm tired of keeping the notes on my computer.
Difference of opinion between Cavil and Cavil, kind of the angel/devil on the shoulder or split personalities conceit, except they are really two different people, in an Anna to the Infinite Power sort of way.
To kill or not to kill, that is the question
Project was doomed from the beginning.
10 months earlier, 2 weeks before attack on colonies
The final five: Dad, Mom, Dad, Mom, Dad. Pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?
Be prepared for some very sticky hugs. Heh.
Caprica City
14 hours before destruction of colonies
This scene again, from the pilot.
Baltar swings his hips when he was walks, heh.
0700, Caprica City time.
Picon Cool to see a different colony.
Ellen and Cavill. Ahh, they did a little bam-chicka-waa-waa before New Caprica? Eww.
Is that bartender topless? I guess she is.
Cavil is a mysterious stranger. Yep.
Ah... I bet that the Tigh that Adama knew from way back when was Original Flavor Tigh, who knew he was a Cylon, etc. I wonder if that actually fits together or not.
The Hybrid: Seize by God, they cry for succor in the dark of the light. Mists of dreams dribble on the nascent echo and love no more. Jump.
Obviously meant for greater things.
Are you a priest? Would it matter?
Pyramid training camp:
The Hybrid:The center holds. The Falcon hears the falconer.
There's a "life bar." Interesting.
Apotheosis was the beginning before the beginning.
The base and the pinnacle.
The flower inside the fruit that is both its parent and its child. [like Cavill and Ellen? Also sort of meta in a way, this whole story is the writers' offspring but also about our imagined ancestors.] Decadent as ancestors. The portal and that which passes.
Delphi, Caprica.
The machine keeps pushing time through the cogs, like paste into strings into paste again and only the machine keeps using time to make time to make time. And when the machine stops, time was an illusion that we created. Free will, 12 battles, three stars and yet we are countless as the bodies in which we dwell, are both parent and infinite children in perfect copies. No degradation.
Cavil is having second thoughts?
No point judging anybody. No one changes who they really are. If no one is corrected then no one learns their lessons.
The Hybrid: The makers of the makers fall before their child
The battle begins.
Yashuman.
The Hybrid: Love outlasts death... is meaning in the absence of time. What never was is never again.
-It's like they don't understand what we're doing for them. -I think they're grateful in their own way. -I know I'd be. Interesting. What do the other Cylons think this was all about?
What are you going to do Sam? -Shoot till I can't, coach. Just like Kara.
If you let some one change you or make you apologize, then you're selling yourself out, you know.
BOOM. Aerial shots are Very evocative of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
This has happened before.
Ah, Simon was also on the Pyramid team
Scorpia Shipyards
Gemenon
Canceron.
Farms of Aerilon. Beaches of Canceron Plains of Leonis Jungles of Scorpia Pastures of tauron Harbor of Picon Cities of Caprica Oceans of Aquaria (oceans burn?) Courthouses of Libran Forests of Virgon Colonies of man lie trampled at our feet.
Nice effects shots. Poetic, but I love how each planet only has one kind of ecosystem. How very sci-fi of them.
Battlestar Galactica
Back wtih Simon. What is this child to him.
Colonial One.
Pyramid team processsing the news.
Tory in the aftermath.
Picon.
Dead bartender.
Cavil and Ellen. This has happened before.
Battlestar Galactica. Adama's "we are at war" speech.
Cylon occupied Caprica
Pyramid team cum resistance fighters. Coach gives over leadership to Sam.
"There are only 12 models" The Mysterious Note to Adama. I had forgotten that's how Adama knew. And Baltar sent it?
Cavil and Ellen.
Cavil's soliloquy. Very Luficerian. For 30 years, you've failed to observe the moral failures of humanity, against whom you find me lacking. Get better, mother. Open your eyes and take a gander at what you think you love.
Cylon occupied Caprica.
The Resistance forming together. Taking strategy from an old war movie. I love it.
Ah, this Simon is the Simon from the baby farm, right?
8 days after the destruction of the Colonies.
Battlestar Galactica. At The Wall.
Cylon's planning their subterfuge. These are the "meetings" Cavil was alluding to to Tyrol.
So this is a different Plan. They had 2 Plans going on. No wonder it didn't work out.
The plan to discredit Baltar in whatever episode that was.
Fight fight fight.
The Doral situation. His jacket was Burgundy. This is teal. Heh. The suicide vest. Which wasn't Doral's idea. Hmm.
Sam doubting his role as leader.
9 days after the destruction of the colonies. Leoben taps into the radio and listens to Kara. Is this when his kara obsession starts?
This child. So he is important.
Tyrol and...Giana. And Boomer. Awkward.
Is Giana's husband some one we know?
Ah, the elephant was a sleeper agent signal.
You're a machine, Eight. Go get some explosives, blow up the tank, and then have a fatal accident. Hence the beginning of Boomer's identity crisis.
Cybele Ah, Simon is Giana's husband. Ah, a Simon which has doubts about Cavil's plan as well.
Back to the Resistance on Caprica. The clean up crew. Dorals got the shit job. And now The Resistance Knows.
Boomer having doubts. And wanting to have mercy.
And that explains the blacking out.
Boomer and Tyrol scene again. Back with the resistance. And that's how Cavil ended up with the Resistance.
17 Days after the destruction of the fleet.
Doral's suicide scene again.
Leoben. this is how he got captured.
Back to the Resistance. Cavil and Sam.
Perhaps the Cylons have assumed the role that the Gods once had.
Back on Battlestar Galactica. Cavil and Simon. "I found a three with a similar problem; I let her persue her path" Reporter D'Anna?
Cavil tightening the screws on Simon.
This is all improv isn't it? Hmm...
No one was suppoed to be alive! Our people were suppoed to be positioned to cause destruction, not mop up afterwards! So... one of the other Cylons slightly changed Cavils plan to give the humans some hope. Or it was the doing of The Angels?
Humans as the cockroaches.
24 days after the Destruction of The Colonies. This scene again. With whatshername Six.
Loeben becoming more obsessed with Kara. And painting the Mandala? That's interesting.
Boomer sees the message in her mirror.
All mankind are our fathers, and that's the sin for which they deserve to die. Hmm...
-I'm happier when I'm under; I happier when I'm human. I like myself; I love myself then. -Never say that, never never never. Because if that were true, they win, and they can't...They know your lies; I know you. Cavil gives Boomer the order to kill Adama. And then they kiss. Ew.
Baltar confronts Six. No more Mr. Nice Giaus.
Hmm...Kara's ability to fly the Raider was something unusual. Leoben taking interest in Kara's destiny.
Leoben arrested. Baltar arrested.
How whatshername Six escaped.
Trying to make a guilty man look guilty, should be so easy. Heh.
25 days after the destruction of the colonies. Leoben interrogation scene. Which makes a lot more sense now. Life flashing before Kara's eyes? Huh?
Back with the Resistance.
Boomer's attempted suicide
This little boy again.
Boomer's final mission.
Simon trying to save his wife. And it turns into a fight. So no couple can be happy. Ever.
Boomer shoots Adama.
Simon agrees to blow up the Cybele.
Every machine needs to warm up. We're a fleet killing machine.
54 Days after the destruction of the colonies.
Boomers fight for herself. The only way to get this thing done was to turn myself into a Centurion. Boomer and Cavil are not on the same wavelength, only Cavil doesn't realize that.
I don't want a priest. And you deserve no absolution
Helo and Kara on Caprica.
Back on Caprica: Cally shoots Boomer
Simon makes his choice.
Six recaps The Plan so far.
Why are they letting you down, One? What's the x-factor? Can't declare war on love.
About Simon's death. A suicide note. "Love outlasts death."
53 days after the destruction of the colonies.
At Kara's old apartment.
The little boy again. Is he Cavil's conscience?
Sam's confession. Bless me brother, for I have acted against the example of the gods.
Can you forgive the Cylons?
And this is when CapricaCavil changes his mind. As long as any humans exist, there's no room for us.
Kara in the Baby Farm, killing Simon.
280 days after the destruction of the colonies. Cavil counseling Tyrol
Whoa whoa whoa. We've completely skipped over Ellen and Tigh here, haven't we?
Giana and Tyrol starting to see the humanity in the Cylons.
-Does that frighten you, the idea of putting your trust in others? Well, I've done it, and they've all let me down. Every single one. So yeah, it should scare the frak out of you.
Parallel conversation on Caprica with Cavil and Sam. Cavil can't believe that love outlasts death.
Kara's rescue team arrives.
Brother Cavil and the boy. Sharing an apple. How symbolic. Ah... this little boy is one of the Angels, isn't he?
Friends are dangerous things. Youch. That's going to hurt.
CapricaCavil makes his choice.
The Cylons are just having mercy all over the place, huh? Ah, the Make Love Not War contingency makes it's truce and gets Cavil to deliver it
281 days after the destruction of the colonies.
Two halves face to face at last.
We didn't want to be loved. we wanted to be treated fairly.
Cavil's I don't want to be human speech. I'm a machine, and I could know much more.
The best laid plans...
From the DVD Commentary The little boy Cavil keeps talking to is supposed to be a childhood version of him. They talk about how they cast the child actor to look like Dean Stockwell did when he was a child actor himself...so Cavil's actually talking to himself in those scenes.
