Ooooh, spooky scary halloweeny opening!
Also? Hot hot work-out Agent Coulson - mmmmm!
Heee! Love all of them making fun of Ward, imitating him. Ha!
Woot! Big Lebowski reference!!! LOVE THIS!
I'm also liking all the banter in this ep.
Ah, a piece of alien tech from the invasion ... they took a souvenir and now it's doing bad stuff to them. :-( Man, this is a running theme for Coulson, being there when someone is gonna die .... Oooooooh and now we get Coulson insight .... "I know I wasn't here anymore." And the guy sends him away ... sad!
I love May's facial expressions - so guarded and yet so revealing.
Oh, sciency Simmons ... how happy she is babbling away about this new virus and then the thing rises behind her and Coulson's face! Nicely done! Scary and sad and eeepsome.
Infected cargo. And, well, it is Coulson's job to deal with. :-(
"You've been beside my the whole damn time." No one to create a serum from, except - aha!
Then she goes to dump the cargo herself! No! The rat is OK!
And Ward goes after her 'cuz he's the guy who sees his mission as saving them all. And at least this he can do - something physical.
This piece of paper is telling me everything is fine .... but he feels different. And then May, damn she gives a great speech!!
Can't say this enough times. Every scene with Coulson and May together is perfection!
And the Simmons & Fitz moment was lovely and more layered than it looks at first glance.

It's nice to see them focusing a bit more on the supporting cast; it makes the series feel a bit more layered. It seems slow to get going in that direction, in my opinion, but at the same time, I think there is a whole different set of issues with this series that something like Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse just didn't have...that is, having to incorporate the series with the films and the comic books. Joss is a continuity ninja, but even so, that's a huge challenge...

This episode was certainly a bit better more to my taste; more character interaction, anyway. I like Coulson, I love May, and any time the two of them talk, it's a good thing. More grownups, please.
I do have to say, though, that all of Coulson's talk about his demise sounded very familiar - I was in a beautiful place (ie, Heaven), I came back wrong, although nobody can find any evidence of it, I just know. Well, it is Joss, but still...
By the way, we missed the last minute or so, after all the commercials - Coulson was watching the box being dropped off at the sandbox, and then our recording cut out (because I had to record The Voice for Paul *cathork noises*). Did I miss anything important?

Did I miss anything important? Anne, I've got to head to bed but will try to remember to check and see what was at the end. I think maybe they are setting up for Coulson's group to (eventually) have to go rogue as a "who watches the watchers" scenario plays out. And power corrupting, and all that stuff (when Jim's away I stay up too late). I also liked this ep more than previouslies. Like starting to know the characters and see their interactions and concerns and cares and relationships. The artifact was still silly (and there are definitely elements of Warehouse 13 going on here) But I am SOOOO pleased that the obvious explanations for Coulson's revival seem to have been ruled out. It really is the REAL Coulson but there is still something more ... maybe something to do with the technique with which he was revived (ala the sarcophagus on Stargate?) And, yeah, for a guy who repeatedly says he is an atheist his characters seem to have some very heaven-heavy death experiences. Interesting.
