Wait, nobody's posted for more than 48 hours? JEEZ.
Spring, you're a heroine for maintaining any balance at all in the face of that much pre-adult input. Living with a nineteen year old who is from a region which does not do my native bluntness is enough of a challenge- and she is from a loving home and has a lot of resources beyond me.
I am sitting here thinking of just how bad a person I am for not standing up and getting the day restarted, but the truth is I thought the hired hand would be here today, and thus overdid yesterday and am about ready to faceplant after the first round of laundry and chicken-food-prep.
Stupid, stupid reality. Really, stupid reality.
Julia, the HH has been moving all week and is calling in broken.

And, in news of my clan: Allison has decided to accept the offer to attend Columbia. HUGE commitment of time and money. Master of International Affairs, and if I go, I would intend to concentrate in Human Rights and specialize in International Media Advocacy and Communications (concentrations plus specializations are columbia's lingo distinguishing tiers of things). I think she plans on spending her life at non-profits. Maybe even going back to International Justice Mission. That is a huge commitment, but sounds like it will be worth it. She has a lot of adventures ahead, I have a feeling.

I think it is likely right around 48 hrs.
I hate to see us in this sort of coma, but can't think of any reasonable way to revive the patient.
Yep, the girls, ages 17, 14, and 11, are really a handful. They are trying to talk me into taking the little bro, too (9 yrs old), but I have no room for him, plus the youngest girl really isn't settled in enough yet for something that disruptive. I worry about the little guy, but he is really, really difficult - I would take him if it was just him . . . I do think I could handle him. But he needs tons of care and attention, and I wouldn't be able to do that, not with the girls in the state they are in.
Well, must go pick up the youngest from her volleyball practice.
Anyone have any bright ideas for getting some attention to this place or getting it revived, post away. I guess it would have to be around another popular show, but nothing thus far has provided a real spark.

Just wanted to share some good news - I saw my endocrinologist today. My remaining half-thyroid is doing its job, and the nodule isn't any bigger. So I'm back to annual checks for now.
*refills basket of brackets, tea cart supplies and cookie plate*
Oh, and I saw a bluebird.

Perhaps more appropriate on the OT thread, but today IS a .... not a holiday, actually I guess it's really a high Holy day for Christians. So for this date only I will make an exception (although I will be more than happy to move if anyone is offended): Lamentations 3:22-23 this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

I do admire both your compassion and your fortitude, neither of which do I possess to any great degree. It would be nice for them to have their little bro', but the only way I can see you handling 4 rambunctious, damaged children would be with a partner helping you. Three is already a lot. How did you explain to them that it wouldn't be possible for you? As for finding more posters, I'm at a loss. We don't spend much time talking about shows any more. Mostly we discuss our lives. Not even Joss has given me much to chew on. I like AOS, but it's not Buffy. I just can't get worked up about it. The Bobman and I are now all caught up on GOT, and I like it a lot, but we can't keep the myriad characters' names straight necessitating descriptive nicknames (Darkhaired Guy, BadDad, Scarman, Bitchlady, BadSkin Girl, Battlegirl, Blonde Chick, The Dragonlady, Dwarfguy, etc.) True Blood is winding down, and apart from the leads, I don 't know any of the current (surviving) characters there either. Really, beyond Dr Who I don't know what show(s) we could all agree to focus on.

The world hates me. I got up this morning to start my drawers and my iron was dead. Fast dash to Target and emergency purchase of new (admittedly far superior, professional) iron. Got home. Ironed fabric. Placed fabric. Pinned pattern to fabric. Electric scissors are dead. Can I cry now?

I hope that the electric scissors are the last tool failure and can be easily replaced, so you can get back to business.

Knickers coming along apace. No major problems. The new iron is taking a little adjustment. We bought the real deal this time. Sharp Ultimate Professional Steam Iron. It has a steel plate instead of Teflon and it's got some real heft to it. Can anybody tell me how to insert an image in this format? I used to do it all the time and now with the new format I have no idea what I'm doing. www.target.com/OpenZoomLayer?template=scene7-image&image=Target/14730823_is&omniZoomPartNumber=14730823&swCellSpacing=10,10&swHighlightThickness=1&swBorderThickness=0&itemTitle=Shark+Ultimate+Professional+Iron&omniImageCount=2 Anyway, I'm thinking I'll take it back today and replace it with something that suits me better.

Really, beyond Dr Who I don't know what show(s) we could all agree to focus on. With the little bro', I worry about the amount of attention the kids need. Each one still needs so much. I just think they would all end up shortchanged if I take one more. I just told Children Services that I don't have room for him (I don't), and they made some noises about maybe having some money available to help me buy a different house, but they could see that this seemed over-the-top for me. I mentioned also, about the boy liking things like fishing and hunting - things that I don't do, and that none of my nerdy guy friends do, either.
We even joked about them finding me a husband as well as a house, and we got some good laughs out of that.
I know, it seems hopeless when it comes to reviving the site. Nothing short of a reboot of the BtVS or AtS series could do that, I don't think. And that's not going to happen. If I got back to my reviews, or Erin could, I think a few people (not many) might wander over to comment on the review thread, but it would hardly get the site going - no matter how you look at it, reviews of BtVS and AtS are old news.
With TWoP closing at such, I think some of it is just that this sort of site is becoming a thing of the past, replaced by FB, Twitter, and the like. I think Monnie does most of her Supernatural fan contact on Twitter, no any special SPN board.
Well, it's nice to have to check in on each other, we've known each other so long now - I'm glad to still have it, even as is.
GOT does seem to be popular, but I don't even watch Project Runway anymore - just don't have time with the constant attention needed by the girls. Have had some challenges I can't go into here on this thread . . . will post a bit over in Admin.

A couple of years ago, I decided to buy a pricey Rowenta iron and I never regretted it. Enjoy your professional iron.
