Lots of Buffytype references in tonight's ep. Mindwiping, pain from visions ala Cordy. I wonder what the significance is that Nathan turned into Sylar. Still pissed they killed Eden. How the heck did Sylar manage to break the glass? **nods** Killing Eden was kinda like classic Joss. Pull you into the character, show her starting to change her life, to move and be on the verge of a new path so you're even more invested in the character and then BAM! Of course it also means that Sylar is harder to contain than they thought. I'm not convinced (yet) that it's Eden who died/dies. As far as I could see we are uncertain about the current life-status of Eden, Sylar and Peter. (And yes I'm very confused about why, after healing up after his contact with Claire Peter has suddenly become so sick so fast. My theory was that he was hurt so badly that he only healed up 95% while near Claire. Once she left the healing stopped and maybe there was a bit of internal bleeding that didn't get healed. (He loses the powers after he leaves the orbit of the other hero, yes?)) Anyway, Adrian Pasdar (Nathan) was on E! News last night (I was channel flipping very late) and made a comment which I will post in the Spoiled thread. The comment refers to the "one will die" issue but is in no way definitive. Still, better be safe than sorry for those who want NO outside info whatsoever.

I wonder if the headache was because it's hard for Peter to absorb another power so soon after the last. My first impression was that the headache occurred because Matt (G.G's character) was suffering from a headache. The sickness at the end I thought might be the result of absorbing so many powers. My question is - are all the powers now part of him? Like he can now fly, paint the future, heal and have telepathy? Or does he only have those powers when he is in proximity to the person with this power. I thought overall it was a great episode. My impressions: Things I loved: Hiro's going to fight a T-Rex? Love it and his "I've got to find that sword." Plus "Hope I dont' step on a bug." (Hee!) Creepy hallucination Peter has in his cell with Nathan/Sylar. Eden sacrificing herself rather than have Sylar absorb her powers. Awesome. The Haitian speaks and goes against Daddy. Loved that little twist! Peter is the bomb? Nooooooo. I love Milo in this role, he completely rocked his scenes last night and terrific chemistry with Claire. Hiro saying Mr. I-saac! Hee! Peter and Matt reading each other's minds and getting buzzed and their facial expressions. Hee! Things I didn't love: Nikki's storyline. So, so boring right now. Having to wait till January 22 to see this show again.

Ooh, Eden—I like that option. Yeah, this would be an excellent plan. Too bad the plot demands (probably) that they keep him alive and murderous.... I'm not convinced of this, necessarily. I'd be perfectly fine with Sylar being killed off and a new "big bad" introduced during the second half of the season. There's lots of good heroes, so why not an expanding stable of bad guys too? (As well as murky overloads, governments, "Chaos", crazy rich guys collecting power-wielders, etc.) Personally, I don't find Sylar all that interesting. He's too crazy----more like a Glory-minion than Glory. I'm also not a fan of always having the same guy/threat endlessingly repeating. I love Joss' style of overcoming one Big Bad just to face another next May.

More Silence of the Lambs stuff. You collect special people, so do I. timepieces, not watches. Did Daddy Bennett call in the big guns? Hiro and Ando helped Isaac paint without the drugs, where Eden and Daddy Bennett could not. Oh, of course she doesn't realize that Daddy Bennett is behind the memory wipes. He's gonna lock up Claire in the bunker too. He speaks!!! Ah, mom's memory keeps getting wiped. Does explain why she's so loopy. "How many times have you flashy-thinged that poor woman?" ;D Exactly!

"How many times have you flashy-thinged that poor woman?" ;D *Snerk!* I wonder if the Haitian (I really hope they give a name to him soon) can add memories back, too; or if he can be selective in how he wipes them so they can be recovered: I'm really upset about Zach, and hope that he's recoverable to Claire. Which means that it's probably a one-way trip, and once wiped, you have to learn it all over again from scratch. *sigh* Well, it seems like he can remove a specific time span of memories. The brother only lost the memories of Claire and how he got home (about an hour). Zach lost 6 months. Matt just lost a day. I think they took just about everything from the quarterback who tried to rape Claire. Poor Claire's mother---no wonder she stays close to her dog: she's constantly suffering mini blackout eps where she's got to know time/memories are missing. At least the dog won't notice or question her or tell her she's going nuts.

One thought about the multi-power overload theory: Assuming it's correct, Peter's solution would be simple enough: don't be in close proximity with several heroes at once. Sylar, on the other hand, would have no such option if he were to eat Nuke Boy's brain. Perhaps Peter's overloading experience (with the accompanying visions) were meant to provide him with a vital clue. Tom and I also got the impression that Sylar looks into the DNA of the others and "sees how it works" and then somehow can manipulate his own DNA to mimic the power. One would assume, then, that he would not change himself to mimic dangerous powers (like radioactivity). Why he has to scalp off the top of the brain to examine their DNA is unclear. Just because it's cool? I also don't think he'd just be content with stealing the power even if he could. He would still kill the other heroes because he's NUTS.

Hmm. More evidence for my "Peter has a power of his own" hypothesis. Nathan wasn't really there, but nevertheless Peter gained information only his brother would have (what was in the painting). And I'm still thinking - not a coincidence that Nathan was overlaid with Sylar. I'm still in the "Nathan is/will be evil" camp. I mean...he was telling Peter to give up. You can't do it. That's not a good sign, even in a spirit questy dream. I think Nathan is possibly evil also. That hallucination just gives all kinds of creepy vibes.

*Sigh* As usual, you've said everything I wanted to say, including the MiB joke. Well done. Carry on, S'cubies. In Peter's New York dream - I don't think it's him, I think it's radioactive man blowing up. Peter dreamed of flying because Nathan can fly. Now he's dreaming of exploding because... I'm very concerned about that cough, not to mention that he looks pale and sick. Maybe he's not completely healed from jumping off the building. I agree - I don't think it was Peter, either. I think it was just like the flying thing, and that'd be far more interesting, really. I mean, we've seen over and over that Peter's dreams are about other people, with himself as mostly a minor player.

I thought it was left unconfirmed, other than knowing that A gun went off and there was blood.

Peter even brought it with him to Texas as I recall, and looked at it to see if the clock at the school was close to the same time as the clock in the painting. This isn't to say that Peter doesn't have a power of his own, especially given that dream of his. Either that or he does maintain a remnant of another super's power when he absorbs it, given that the image of himself going into meltdown echoed Isaac's painting of that moment. In fact... we know Peter looked fine when he came to Texas; it's only since being in proximity to Claire, Sylar, and Matt in such quick succession that he's gotten so ill. More important, not only were he and Sylar in physical contact but he might even have been exposed to Sylar's blood. And we know Sylar's power is akin to Peter's, in that he also absorbs powers—not to mention that Sylar's done something wonky with his DNA (breathe, Rachael). So maybe it's his interaction with Sylar that's primarily responsible for whatever's going on with him. Hmm...

Hmm...I'd agree except for two things - the first being less reasonable, as an argument, which is that we were led to believe that a "hero" would die last night, and Sylar doesn't really fit the bill. But then, it wouldn't be the first time a promo was hugely misleading. But the other reason is this: all those responsible for capturing/caging Sylar kept saying he was "neutralized" and wouldn't ever hurt anyone again. Given how many of them believe it, it simply can't be true, IMO. And the one person who thought they should kill him anyway dies for their stupidity, a la Jurassic Park (the book, not the movie - where the mathematician character who's been saying all along how stupid this is is one of the first ones eaten by a dinosaur. To prove the point.)

I still don't think it's the DNA he's absorbing. Or at least, not only that. Because it doesn't make sense, to me. So of course I'll be wrong, 'cause it clearly makes sense to the writers. I think what he's doing is literally seeing how the brains are different. These powers, most of them, involve changes in how the brains work, and I think that's why he has to look at them. Because all the DNA in the world isn't a blueprint for brain construction.

I still think that the way Nathan was behaving in the dream means something, though.

I thought it was left unconfirmed, other than knowing that A gun went off and there was blood. Well, there was also the matter of which direction the gun was pointed when last we saw it. And that if she'd shot Sylar the spray of blood would have gone in the opposite direction from the broken glass, given their relative positions—her back was to the glass, his to the wall of his cell. So since the gun was pointed toward her, and that we saw blood hit the remnants of the glass window, the signs seem to indicate she shot herself rather than let Sylar have her power. That's how I saw it, anyway.
