First, the story just above that Julia rec'd about Wesley is definitely worthwhile. Second, in general the spring_with_xan community is putting out some nice stuff, not all of it slash. Here is a piece which could actually be rated "G" (except for the implicitness of male-with-male). Quite a different style---it's presented as a magazine interview with Xander. And lots of little fun details about other characters. darkhavens.livejournal.com/197551.html

You can be a Winner at the Game of Life, X/G, PG-13, by Savoytruffle, who's one of the great Xander writers out there. Post s3, Giles is having a bit of bother with immigration, and Buffy decides to stash him in Xander's basement. This is not exactly fine with either of them, for reasons which become clear, but the Buffy Look is not to be denied. Julia, fun from beginning to end, with all the right buttons and triggers.

Savoytruffle did a recs post recently and it reminded me of a few stories I don't think I recced here! So, I aim to rectify. Living Conditions is a round robin fic written for Spring with Xander by Cordelianne, Electricalgwen, Reremouse, and Savoytruffle. Spike's not immortal anymore, Xander is. Complications follow. Same Time Next Week by Cordelianne. Giles/Xander (not really slash til the very end) - sad and sweet and subtle. Giles is floundering after Buffy's leap from the tower. And by Savoytruffle herself, the eminently lovely You Can Be A Winner At the Game of Life. I think I'll just give you her summary, because it fits: Giles is in trouble, Xander is weak, Giles is silly, Xander is smart.

Something exciting to see for those of you who are fans of No More Snakes and Ladders, the fab S/X (with S/X/Wes and Wes/Gunn and S/X/Wes/Gunn) story by Reremouse and Tabaqui. Katekat has created a beautiful series of images as a tribute to the story. They are here and they are stunningly wonderful. Go! Look!

Mireille has written a fresh view of some well-trodden ground: Giles, Xander, a couple of days after "Chosen" and reclarifying the nature of "we're all going to die" declarations. Somewhere in the Middle is PG-13, with warnings for discussions of the nature and meaning of comfort sex. Julia, like everything Mireille writes, it's notable for great character voices and especially lucid emotional interactions

Savoy Truffle, One of the great avatars of humorous fluffy sexy Spander, The one in the Home Depot up the road from the Home Depot hard R/minor NC-17: hunting vampires is easier when you're not distracted by all that wood. Julia, the author's name is your certification of high quality.

Another story from the Spander Valentines challenge, from another writer whose name alone guarantees quality. Zeppo and Groucho's Excellant Adventure by Reremouse, NC-17, wherein Pizza Boy and the Bleached menace find things to amuse them at 3am, where the parallels to "The Zeppo" come thick and fast but, in the end, there's a lot of difference between Spike and Faith; Spike's a whole lot less scary, for one thing. Julia, agile and amusing little story, with utterly crystalline character voices.

Whoa, that's just disturbing: way too long since I've recommended a finished Buffyverse Slash story. There's a reason for that: except for Reremouse's extended WIPs, I'm finding most of what's out there has lost touch with canon characterization, or says nothing new about the characters,or says nothing new. The cure for that is Shadowscast's The Longest Day (link goes to oneof four linked chapters) where things in early BtVS s 7 have gone wonky in a new and different way, and Xander's picking up clues all along to what the differences have come to mean. NC-17, wel integrated and necessary to the plot. Julia, having gotten tired of the "stick a sex scene in or nobody will read it" thanks to McShep Match

The short slashy fic I wrote on vacation, in response to a challenge from Lola, is under the spoiler tag below! Spike, Giles, and Xander Threesome, handcuffs, spanking, and linoleum challenge from Lola By Spring Summers, October vacation 2009 Spike woke up and cursed. He had been having a great dream of some kind . . . all he could remember now was feeling warm and safe, and gazing into pair of long-lashed, moist, doe brown eyes. But he woke up to a much colder reality: He was alone and still shackled in Giles’ bathtub. “Wake up, Watcher!!” yelled Spike. “I need my breakfast!! And you put the TV remote out of my reach!!” No response. Bloody hell! He tried again, bellowing at the top of his lungs: “WAKE UP WANKER!!” he yelled, thinking that maybe if he called him by his proper name, the wanker might rise. And he heard a stirring. Giles wandered sleepily into the bathroom, running a hand through his messy hair and wiping the sleep from his eyes. “Morning, Sleeping Beauty,” said Spike to Giles, “didn’t think you’d ever open your sticky eyes.” Giles grunted at Spike, and headed straight for the toilet, reaching into his already open robe to take his cock in his hands. “Least pull the shower curtain around me if you’re gonna do that!” protested Spike, whose view of Giles and his subsiding morning erection was boggling his mind more than he was willing to let on. “It’s my bathroom and I’ll do as I please in here,” replied Giles. “Besides, I’m trying to pretend you’re not here.” “That’ll be fun, come time for your morning shower,” said Spike. Before Giles could reply, there was a knock at the door. Giles sighed. He called out, “Just a moment!” and finished his task at the toilet. He walked out of the bathroom. “You didn’t even wash your hands!” yelled Spike after him. “You gonna fix my breakfast with those hands? ” But Giles didn’t respond. Instead, he could hear Giles speaking in a low voice to Xander, in the living room. With his ultra-sensitive hearing, Spike could hear their exchange, despite the quiet voices that were obviously meant to keep the conversation private. “But I’ve been bad!” whispered Xander. “That’s our deal! I confess, and you do it!” “Yes, I know. But I can’t give you the usual spanking right now,” replied Giles. Spike’s eyes widened as his interest and his pants peaked. “Why not? I need it,” pleaded Xander. “And I see you’ve waxed the linoleum. C’mon. You get the paddle, and let’s go into the kitchen.” “Xander,” Giles said patiently, “Have you forgotten that I have guest here today?” Xander had forgotten, but the reminder only excited him further. “That’s right!” he whispered. “Spike! Even better! Where is he?” Spike could stand it no longer. “I’m in the bathroom!” he yelled. What the hell are you two poofters planning???” Xander rushed right into the bathroom, sliding on the linoleum in his socks. Spike wondered how Xander had already managed to remove his pants and his shoes. “He’s already handcuffed!” squealed Xander. “Perfect!” Giles smiled despite himself, and grudgingly agreed, “You make a good point,” he said, his member peeking out from his still open robe. Spike gulped. “Uh, gents,” he said, “what, uhm . . . you’d better not be thinking what I think you’re thinking, ‘cause I’m not that kinda fella . . .” He gulped again. Xander and Giles said nothing. Spike, looked into Xander’s eyes, suddenly flashed back to his warm morning dream. He shook his head to clear it. “I . . . don’t even think it!” he said. “I mean it, I really do.” Both Xander and Giles noticed that while Spike’s pretty little mouth protested, his straining zipper told a very different story. Giles removed his robe and stepped into the tub, turning on the shower all the way to steamy hot. “Xander, get the Caress soap bar, the one with the extra aloe,” he said huskily, “and come join us. It’s time for my morning constitution.” Spike lifted his face to the streaming shower head, preparing to give into his deepest desires. ***

Just read the hottest, most hilarious, most drug-induced lovingkindness type of Spander fanfic EVAH! It's a really hot (NC17) story of when Spike needed Xander's, er, co-operation when he wasn't man enough to earn the attentions of a bountiful woman all on his own. I was laughing til I cried even during the sex parts. Favorite line "Is there love in this vodka?" Ladies and gentleman, I offer you the joy that is Nicolette Says Jump by Kalima: www.allaboutspike.com/fic.html?id=342You may repay me with gourmet chocolates or top of the line sex toys.
