Since we've now got at least three Firefly fics, and they're apt to get lost in the general shuffle of Buffyverse recs, we're startin' us this here thread to post Firefly recs. Anything Firefly-related, and please provide a brief description: slash or het, rating, synopsis if ya wanna.

Copying over from the old slash thread because it is just so good it shouldn't be missed. Mal/Jayne (and Inara/Kaylee), and very plausible - makes me see how these two could get together - they understand each other, but just enough. Long, with a nice slow set up and sweep through the characters and so on. Has plot but not extremely plotty. A bit of sharpness when it comes to Inara, but then that is mostly due to the fact that the story is told only from Mal and Jayne's point of view. And it does a nice job with the level of frustration and misunderstanding between Mal and Inara that seems very canon-like to me. Anyway, here it is: firefly.populli.org/archive/8/likedescribing.shtmlLike Describing the Alphabet by Mosca Lola

Copied and pasted from the Slash Recs thread, original post by Julia: Nominally slash, as a very long relationship between Angel and Spike is implied, but I'll be posting it in both threads, as Tabaqui is so good, and so rarely writes anything that isn't S/X and at least R, that I want to share this with the slash-averse. Firefly/Buffyverse cross-over, Simon hires a couple of relatively familiar mercenaries to get River back pre Firefly Episode 1. Bao Bei, PG: www.livejournal.com/users/tabaqui/60749.html?#cutid1Julia, with Tabaqui's usual full 3D and sensurround descriptiveness

And this was copied and pasted from Part 399, original post also by Julia: Do we need a thread for Firefly recs? Because this: www.livejournal.com/users/inlovewithnight/226760.html?view=1109448includes lines like this: āIām pretty sure I had the ship fumed for messiahs last time we were in port, Shepherd.ā And it's really a worthy little read. A rather sweetly snarky Mal/Inara fic by Estephia. Three little chapters, with characterization that is just spot on. www.estepheia.com/viewstory.php?sid=153Julia gave me the heads up about this one, even as she tries so hard not to add to her fic reading fandoms. Sure, she stays all pure while helping the rest of us stay hooked. ;D

Led to this site when someone elsewhere rec'd one of the stories. Fic by Ana - mostly slash with a bit of gen and het. So far I've only read "Brought to Heel", but I liked it. Had an actual story with plot and action, characters that sounded right, and generally the same feel as the show. unitb.slashcity.net/andromeda/firefly.htmlLola

A small site with a few stories, some fan art, etc. Site looks like it hasn't been updated in quite a while. I've only read one story (gee - guess which pairing) but it had some good dialog. All slash, mostly Jayne/Simon, with a sweet little Jayne/Mal story ;D and also one Kaylee/Inara one. clandestine.tough-luck.net/

Anaross has taken up the challenge of crossover: in WIP "Colors," post- Serenity, Mal and crew pick up a high-paying passenger who wants to go "Anywhere but here": Spike. No pairing announced or obvious at this point, though Jayne has stuck him through with Spike's own sword.... It's up to two parts, and Anaross is generally a quick writer, considering. I for one am along for the ride. It's here.I've also posted this in the WIP thread.

Cross-posted in slash recs and Firefly recs: Twilightofmagic has a way with crossovers; she wrote the hilarious and flirtasious "The LA Patient," an AtS s4/House crossover. "Dead Haul Cargo" is a Jossverse Crossover: Spike ends up on "Serenity" (TVverse, not movieverse) and eventually Mal comes around. Eventually NC-17, although by the time it gets there, the reader is as impatient as Spike. Julia, seven chapters in LJ Memories; you may have to re-click a couple of times.

A bittersweet one - and there's quite a bit of bitter before one gets to the sweet. The characters just feel right to me in this one. Eventually it's Mal/Jayne, but the majority of the story is really Mal. Post Serenity movie, Mal is dirt-bound. This fic has a character death warning that needs to be taken seriously. Took the Sky by Vandonovan. This is a link to the first chapter, links to the rest of the chapters are right at the top of each - just past the author's notes.

From a recommendation by Brandil, TheNyxie writes an elegiac and touching character study of Mal and Zoe post "Serenity." All you can't Leave Behind. Julia, just about perfect
