So, I need to head off to bed, but thought I'd drop a few little thoughts that were noodling around my head. I can always post more and more coherent stuff tomorrow, eh?
Another stalker story. Except, this time the real stalker is the client. She's "stalking" Angel, stalking the eternal life, no, the eternal youth he seems to offer. Only she screws up and ends up stalking Angelus. Not such a good idea.
Angel crashed thru a window again here (quite the eternal theme with him), but all I was thinking was "how did he get in without an invite"? Continuity glitch or does it mean something? Like, it is really her house or is it just another "prop" for her to have parties in and appear to still be successful. Is that why he's not stopped? Or am I just real lousy at noticing that he actually got an invite. (Probably just me, huh?)
Cordy and Wes do such a nice job of snarking and quiping and what not here, but they also have such great serious scenes. Like when Angelus cuts the lights, CC does such a fine job of portraying truly scarred. And then the great bit where she fakes him out with the "holy" water and Wes clips him into the elevator shaft.
But I think the best scene is the end when Wes is Just. So. Hurt. and you can tell only by the way he holds himself, the movement of his eyes, etc. And then Cordy looking right at Angel and saying that Wes was right that it wasn't Angel's fault, it was the drugs, etc. Capped off with the very LOL "You're not gonna untie me, are you?" "Pfft!" bit.

To me, the big interesting question about this ep is not so much why/how does the drug make Angel happy enough to become Angelus, but rather, why doesn't he stay that way?
It's an interesting concept that ME poses for us here. The last time we say Angelus, it was because Angel lost his soul. After Angel stopped being so . . . . um, "happy" with Buffy, the soul was still gone. To get Angel back required that the soul be deliberately put back.
Here we see, what? A temporary de-souling? A false de-souling? The soul still in place but repressed by the drug, allowing Angelus to surface?
Every time I watch this ep, I'm re-intrigued by the possibilties. I definitely don't see this as a continuity problem, I think the writers wanted us to think about these issues.
