Ok lads and lassies. Once more it is time for your pre-new episode Nerd Alert. I just bought the OMWF album and am delightedly singing along. So today's a musical quiz.
Go through your memory, music collection or any other source and tell me the theme song you would apply to your favorite Buffy or Angel character.
If you can't think of one, tell me what part you see your favorite Buffy actor playing were they not in BTVS.
I always thought Your So Vain by Carly Simon was perfect for Cordelia. I'd love to see AST in King Lear.

I really would love to see any and all of the Buffy cast in a production of King Lear (am I the only one who thinks the cast and crew getting together on off nights and having readings of the Barb's work is the coolest thing ever?). Although, individually, I think James Marsters would be a great Macbeth.
I'd definitely have to go with A Perfect Circle's "Magdalena" as a romantic theme song for Spike in his unrequited Buffy love:
"Overcome by your moving temple Overcome by this holiest of altars So pure, so rare To witness such an earthly goddess
I've lost my self control Beyond compelled to throw this dollar down Before your holiest of altars
I'd sell my soul, my self esteem A dollar at a time for One chance, one kiss One taste of you my magdalena
I bear witness to this place, this prayer, so long forgotten So pure, so rare, to witness such an earthly goddess" ______________________________________________________________________________

//I'd love to see AST in King Lear.//
AST? I thought I knew all the initials pretty well -- am I having a senior moment, because I'm not recognizing this one.
As for a theme song, I have several (in no particular order):
"Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence, for Angel.
"Witchy Woman" by the Eagles for Willow.
"Weird Science" by Oingo Boingo, for Fred.
"Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon, for Oz.
Totally agree with Carly Simon's "Your So Vain" for Cordelia.
The Enjoli perfume jingle ("I can bring home the bacon....."), for Buffy.
"Cause I'm A Blonde" by Julie Brown, for Harmony Kendall.
"Strength" by The Alarm, for Wesley.
"I Was Made For Loving You" by Kiss, for Spike.
"Little Sister" by Elvis Presley, for Dawn.
"War" by Edwin Starr, for Gunn.
"Tales of Brave Ulysses" by Cream, for Giles. Or "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who.
"Angel of the Morning" by Juice Newton, for Joyce Summers.
"Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon, for Xander.
"Just A Girl" by No Doubt, for Anya.
"Gypsy" by Fleetwood Mac, for Jenny Calendar.
"Bad Girls" by Donna Summer, for Faith. ______________________________________________________________________________

NP. ASH I know. AST ... I'm racking my brain going through all the people I can think of on Buffy or Angel who go by three initials ... I was just worried it was me. Although I think there is a home security company that goes by those initials .... ______________________________________________________________________________

My Eyes Adored You Though I never laid a hand on you my eyes adored you.--Frankie Valli
That pretty much sums up Xander's feelings, especially early on in the series. ______________________________________________________________________________

Sorry, hada lot of time on my hands today, and it was fun. I'm not trying to turn it into a competition. I'm sure there are folks out there with MUCH better suggestions than mine. ______________________________________________________________________________ David Crenshaw

I never intended this to be a competition, and I don't have a prize, but David's list was spectacular! I am so impressed.
A virtual cupcake to you, David. I award you the title, Nerd of the Week! ______________________________________________________________________________ Diane U

OK, (as I have always thought the song Cry Little Sister from the Lost Boys soundtrack was good for Dawn), I decided to go with that theme for my list, and have used all the songs from the Lost Boys soundtrack.
FAITH: Good Times - INXS and Jimmy Barnes
SPIKE: Lost in the Shadows - Lou Gramm
BUFFY: Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me - Roger Daltrey
ANGEL: Laying Down the Law - INXS and Jimmy Barnes
ANYA: People are Strange - Echo and the Bunnymen (The Doors)
DAWN: Cry Little Sister (Theme from The Lost Boys) - Gerard McMann
GILES: Power Play - Eddie and the Tide
*Man do the words ever apply to BtVS right now! Sample:
"They're out of order in war, they're out of order in love"
"It's just a power play. Good and Evil, they're neck and neck, it's bases loaded and there's 3 on deck. It's a power play, a power-power play."
ALL the SCOOBIES and the FANG GANG too! I Still Believe - Tim Cappello
"But I still believe, I still believe Through the shame, and through the grief Through the heartache, through the tears Through the waiting, through the years
For people like us in places like this We need all the hope we can get Oh, I still believe!"
WILLOW & TARA: Beauty Has Her Way - Mummy Calls
DRUSILLA: To the Shock of Miss Louise - Thomas Newman
(I also think that some of these can be applied to different characters as well.)
And of course there is Goerge Michael's Gotta Have Faith for Faith.

Ok, first, I re-watched OMWF the other night. Now, every time my Metallica CD comes on in the car, I have Anya singing the songs in my head. Hmmm, is this normal? Now... back to our regularly scheduled programming. Let me just say that I love this topic! Since reading Diane's first post the other day, every time I listen to the radio/a song I put it with a BtVS/AtS character. Good stuff! There are sooo many but here are my picks for today... Buffy/Xander (I can't decide who the song suits better) - "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba ... Hmmm, ok some parts don't fit but I can picture both Buffy and Xander singing I get knocked down But I get up again You're never going to keep me down
Spike/Buffy (circa S6) - "Sad But True" by Metallica I'm your pain when you can't feel Sad but true I'm your pain You know it's sad but true
Tara/Willow - "You Are My Sunshine" by... I'm not sure of the original... Jimmie Davis? The other night dear as I lay dreaming I dreamt that you were by my side Came disillusion when I awoke dear You were gone and then I cried You are my sunshine my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are grey
Ahhh... ok, that's it for now. Oh! Also, I would like to see JM do a one-man show of "Death of a Salesman". ______________________________________________________________________________
