Yes, David, some people might move over to "Angel" (and, God willing, they DO!) but I don't think it will be the same. Even if you have Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Dawn, Anya, and Spike move over to "Angel", it's not the same. It's like trying to capture lightning in a bottle twice (or whatever the hell that expression is). It just won't be the same. That is what I'm going to miss. Yes, SMG might do guest appearances, AH might join "Angel", Spike might show up as another vampire with a soul, but It. Won't. Be. The. Same. That is what I was trying to get across in my last post. I'm hoping and praying that some "Buffy" characters show up on "Angel" but even if they do, I'll still be thinking, "It's not the same. It will never be the same." And that's not a bad thing, that's just how it is. Even if SMG decides to come back after a few years and even if the whole Scooby gang is reassemble, it still won't be the same. This moment, this version of the show, is over. It can never be recreated. They may try but it won't be the same. Not saying it would be worse or better, just different. Not jumping on you, David, just expressing my extreme sadness over my recent epiphany that BtVS will soon be ending.

CYBERHUG I'm fairly new too, Michelle, and the trick that I find works for me is I talk so much they have to listen. And even still a good chunk of my posts go un-responded too. Which is ok. I know often if I completely agree with something and have no desire to debate it even a little, I often don't respond. I know, I know, not the best way to do things, but I guess I'm admitting to being no different than anyone else who doesn't speak up unless the building is on fire. No news is good news, sort of. I dunno. I was trying to make you feel better. Hope I didn't depress you more trying to. Now you know why I never became a pschologist or motivational speaker.

Yes, I do have mosh pit experience - unwilling mosh pit experience. If you can believe it, it was at a Dave Matthew concert. Who knew?! A big group of teens came down to the front rows and started a mosh pit right there. The other people and I were helplessly swept in by this mad group of teenagers. Ugh Also, seen a bunch of 'em on TV. What can I say, I'm your go-to-girl for any bit of random trivia. My head is so full of worthless entertainment knowledge it's not even funny!

Not whiny at all. All of us complain from time to time that our posts are ignored. I just ranted a couple of pages ago. Scream a little and you get noticed. And I wouldn't worry about being naive either. One of two things will happen, A. You aren't as naive as you think you are and we'll mention it or B. You ARE as naive as you think you are and you'll delight us and we'll mention it. Can't lose. Anyway, you were noticed so don't go all Invisible Girl on us. Just keep posting whether we respond or not. You're being read.

Sue, I realize that I'm probably one of the least liked poster on ScoopMe to those who frequent this board, but I wanted to make sure I got a reply from you, so I came to look for you here. Please forgive me for those who feel that my presence is a violation of your sanctuary. However, besides being the ever disagreeable antagonist, I'm also a loving father who REALLY wants his children to read and exercise their minds. That said, Sue, you refered to on the Ep. Boards some authors along the lines of Lewis, who your children read. I love Lewis, but unfortunately, there's not much exposure in my community to other fantasy novelists, so any recommendations you can make would be appreciated (authors as well as particular books). Thanks a bunch!

I am right there with you in spirit. I've been around here awhile, and I feel that everyone's wonderful personalities shine right through in their posts. These people are online buddies of the highest caliber. I am unable to post as frequently, and quite frankly, as brilliantly as most of y'all! I used to feel occasionally ignored, but I'm over it now. You get back as much as you put in, and I don't put in a fraction of most here. But I love this board, the website, and all of youAnd I discovered Friday night that I am MUCH more entertaining after a few cocktails...

James, as long as you behave yourself and are respectful to the members of this board, nobody is going to mind your being here. David is a new and well-liked attendee. We don't mind dissenting opinions. We do mind anyone who's unpleasant. That said, does Sue have to be the only one who answers your question? Are you looking for only children's fantasy? Does it have to have only one bent or point of view? For children's (and adult too, since I'm an avid fan) haven't you done Harry Potter yet? Have you done J.R.R. Tolkien (the king of fantasy)? You surely must! C.S. isn't the only Lewis for fantasy, there's also Lewis Carroll. Anything by Andrew Lang or the Brothers Grimm (such a lovely name!) are just as classic. How old are your children and what's their scare level? I have more, but they need to be a little older. Fact is, both your library and your local Barne & Noble are overflowing with excellent fantasy for kids.

Friday night we were ALL in rare form, and not all of us can blame alcohol.

Click over to Amazon.com. Do a search of fantasy and you'll find more recommendations than you'll ever be able to manage! Hope that helps.

James, I've read your posts on the ep board and welcome them from a devil's advocate perspective. For what it's worth. Welcome! Athene V

James, I have two nieces who were loving books by Tamora Pierce when they were aged 9-12. Also Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. Been around forever but now much more popular for kids and adults since the whole Harry Potter rage...

I can definitely vouch for that part about minding anyone who is unpleasant. When we get a chance, have I got a funny story to share with you about me, Patti and Steve Martin's favorite dog ...Anyhow, I was scared to death forever to wander into this board. I envisioned it as a Spuffy-Only zone, and me being a more-or-less B/A shipper, I was sure I'd be tarred-and-feathered on sight! But I wasn't (not counting above mentioned instance with me, Patti and Steve Martin's dog ...). Don't be afraid to join us. As long as you don't attack anyone here for having an opinion different from yours (i.e., "God you people are so weird to love Spike like you do"), they'll allow you your opinion and welcome you with open arms. At least that's the reception I got, and I see no reason why you won't be treated the same.I'm done now. Putting the soapbox away, rolling up the flag and shutting off the sappy background music.

Sue said, "I wasn't a "founding member" and I have wondered whether the "orginals" are sometimes taken aback by the recent explosions (especially those Friday and Saturday alnight sessions) in posting. That's exactly why I asked Vlad about advertising for "new blood" on the ep board." To answer Sue as a (well, THE) founding member - I'm absolutely *not* taken aback!! I'm probably notorious by now for asking lurkers to join us. In a recent post I was bemoaning the loss of some departed posters. Nobody replied to that post either, so I qualify for invisible, too, Michelle. A lot of us seem to be suffering from the invisibility syndrome lately. It may be from having so many posts to read that rather than answer a post on something someone else may already have answered and feel embarrassed for answering late, we don't post at all. I'm wondering if we could devise some method for signaling posts that a S'cubie really would like responses to. For example, we could type a sentence at the end of our post, "Please respond" or "Replies appreciated" or something like those phrases, to signal that the person would like their post to generate answers or comments. Replies appreciated. Alexandra K.

First and foremost, Welcome! As another member put forth, we don't mind dissenting viewpoints here...in fact, believe it or not, we all usually disagree with each other. Of course for most of them (the women), it's over their degree of lust for Spike and jsut how much of his body is TOO much to see, but there are disagreements.*chuckling* It's not hte dissenting viewpoints, its how the person approaches the argument. Or if theyare ever willing to just agree to disagree before the whole thing become cumbersome. Also, it is recommended not to start off your presence here by replying wittily about Steve Martin's dog. (Inside joke ... don't worry about it) Secondly, these folk are repositories of information on EVERYTHING. Most are well read (far better than I) and have an amazing number of professions from stay-at-home mom to lawyer to professional author to military professional to office assistant, to college higher-up (can't remember the actual title now). Many have children and all have interesting backgrounds to draw on. If anyone can assist you in selecting fine literature for your children to read, it is these people. And for the record, I nearly always read your posts, even when I was "fast-skimming" the Ep board. You aren't un-appreciated. Vlad
