Things I don't get:
If they both want to start over, what's stopping them?
Personally I think Walt needs a serious talking too. Just cause he want to leave the island doesn't mean he gets to destroy the hopes of 45 others.
And Locke's going to not tell his father. Bad decision.
And, #3 I don't get Shannon/Sayid.
Off to West Wing. Y'all enjoy Alias

Damn. I knew when Locke sat down to play with him that it was Walt who did it. ha ha! beat you! I suspected from the time the boat burned and knew it when Walt volunteered to help rebuild it.

Nice ep! I'm really glad we got to see the other side of the story.
How sad! They were both keeping secrets from the other, one of which was they both were wanting out. If only they'd talked to each other.
Lola
And Hurley was on TV! When Jin went to the guy's house to intimidate him the first time (when he didn't know that's what he was supposed to be doing). The little girl was watching TV and Hurley was on!!!

Ok, how the hell does he still have batteries left for that thing? I need to get some of those type of batteries. ETA: Hmmm, free at last? AETA: HAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry Hurley, I didn't mean to jinx your batteries I LOVED that! We've been griping about those batteries for months!! LOL!!! It's about time!

I think she was really speaking Chinese then - they translated it for us to give it more power. I felt the same way about this scene. It has more punch when we can match the tones to the words. And, it doesn't make sense unless she's trying to find out if Jin speaks English.

Whoa. Go DDK with the acting: both incredibly subtle facial expressions and body language. First the subservience, then the face hardening as he watches Sun. **nod** And when she spoke English for the first time - the look he gave her.

Damn. I knew when Locke sat down to play with him that it was Walt who did it. I had a feeling it was Walt from the look on his face when it was burning. He's a good little Locke-minion, isn't he?

Yeah, and just what would you do with all that rope? I can't believe Sayid was scared off by Boone? Macrame' a hammock for romantic Saturday evenings snuggled together under the palm trees.

Off to West Wing. Y'all enjoy Alias I think Locke knows that Michael would go balistic and destroy what little relationship he's managed to build with Walt. I like Shannon/Sayid. He's looked beyond her obvious physical charms and seen that she's someone he likes being around. And, thanks to Locke, she's starting to act like a grown-up woman, not a spoiled child. She lightens him up and he steadies her, pretty good match, I'd say.

Wow.. in the immortal words of Kelley Lockhart, and regarding the Burger King commercial: "What....The hell.... Was THAT?!" So it's his story this time.. Nice flirtage between Shannon and Sayid... "Saturday night" I just have to say: Shannon is my kinda woman. ;D (Take that however you want) Does anybody else suspect Locke of arson? I'm pretty sure that Jin didn't do it... Burger King goes surreal. I like it. But there should have been someone throwing power tools into a bathtub. Very very nice flirtage between Sayid and Shannon. Very nice. Well, Locke didn't do it, but how cool that he figured out the kid did. (Although I want to know if he actually set it on fire or did he do it with his demon spawn mind control thing.) I loved it when Locke just lost it with the group and reamed them a collective new one with some reality. Hey, remember the people out there kidnapping and killing us? Think they might be more likely to have done this than us and that fighting amongst ourselves is a really stupid thing? This time we for sure got an us / them that meant the survivors versus the folks already there. (I'm still not convinced the other "us / them" was about that.) Lola

I liked it. The episode with its title In Translation and its shots of ears and its ending with Hurley uncovering his ears . . . it seemed to me to be all about . . . people finding themselves, and each other, and themselves in each other.
[/li][li]Jin starts out saying Sun is his dream . . . but another person can’t be your dream. They can be in your dream, part of your dream, but they can’t BE your dream. The burden of being someone else’s dream will crush both parties.
[/li][li]So many mentions of what’s my business and not yours, what’s your problem and not mine – hands off, back off , back off.
[/li][li]I hit you to save you – Sun, to Michael. Jin to his victim. So many mentions of what’s salvageable, and what’s not.
[/li][li]But oh the joy of "hands on," of getting together (Sayid & Shannon).
[/li][li]And oh the joy of going home and salvaging something you thought might be lost (Jin and his father).
[/li][li] But also, oh the joy letting go and being free and starting over (Sun).

Crap! Hurley lost his music. And next week is Hurley's week! Hurray, I think! looks that way to me also! Hurray!!! This show should be called 'Fathers'.... oh it was so good tonight.... It was .... so sad that Jin couldn't start over with Sun...but so good that he is starting over anyway. And the rightness of his decision was so apparent when Sun dropped that blanket and smiled as she stepped into the surf. Best wishes to them both, but if she ends up with Michael, who ...even after his backstory and my recent review of him irritated the HELL out of me again tonight...I will wash my hands of her. I have always liked Jin. And I love how the writers make us believe something and then show us how much we CAN'T tell about a person from the outside. Is everyone as curious to find out about Locke's bad daddy as I am? Though, Hurley first! Sayid and Shannon....for the record? I hate gorgeous blondes who get second chances because they are gorgeous blondes. bah humbug.

ha ha! beat you! I suspected from the time the boat burned and knew it when Walt volunteered to help rebuild it. Miss Smarty Pants Patti. I was so thinking along the lines of one of the "others" that I really didn't think about Walt. Although, the conversation about showing him a new city should have been a big clue. Walt's lack of enthusiasm about "the buildings" was a great red herring to throw us off his true lack of desire to see New York. I knew Jin didn't do it, and that the burns were from trying to put it out.

Ok, how the hell does he still have batteries left for that thing? I need to get some of those type of batteries. ETA: Hmmm, free at last? AETA: HAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry Hurley, I didn't mean to jinx your batteries A very intense episode!
I don't think Jin speaks English, or at least not very muc of it. Sun is locked between two incredibly stubborn and more-violent-than-they-appear alpha males; but by the end of the episode she seems to be thinking more for herself, actually doing something for herself in wearing a bikini and stepping into the ocean.
Daniel Dae Kim has some acting chops here! Great portrayal of a young man who does sacrifice all his dreams for love, and comes to regret his decision as he has to pay violent dues.
Hurley on the TV that the little girl watched - wow! And the origin of Jin's gift of the Chinese Shar-Pei pup to Sun. (note to dog people - Shar-Pei's are adorable to look on, but by no means a recommended breed for a novice owner - their temperaments tend to be reserved and ultra-protective - and they have almost as many medical problems as Bulldogs). Locke is becoming The Voice of The Island, prophet and priest, isn't he? He's taking a lot on himself - I would think that Michael deserved to know that his son was the culprit.
Loved the ending with Michael and Jin working together; but Jin should have got back together with Sun. It's the new beginning they wanted...
The flashback moment where Jin crumbled in front of the father he'd denied was wonderful.
And go Shannon & Sayyid - they make a great couple. Boone is my candidate for Won't Be Coming Back To The Island in Season 2.
And I never trusted Sawyer; but beating up Jin was a new low even for him - didn't like that nasty look in his eyes when he said "It's Lord of the Flies" time. Didn't like Michael beating up Jin either - Michael should have known that Jin would have wanted Michael to leave so that he'd have Sun all to himself free of distraction. But neither Jin nor Michael was thinking rationally, all that angry male hormone flooding their brain.
Is it just me, or does Jack need to step up and take a tighter grasp on the reins of leadership? Or give them to Kate?
And wasn't that Jasmine I just saw snatching Sidney's sister on ALIAS?
