open for tonight's discussion! Why is this thread hiding in page 2? Why is this ep a repeat? Blech. Given that it had a new name, I thought we were finally getting a new ep. No fair! False advertising! I was hoping for something exciting and distracting, and instead, I've barely been paying attention to the ep and have been up and down doing chores and stuff. What a disappointment. If I may quote our snooty sounding narrator: “You try to let go of the pahst, even as your future, is uncertain.”Are we ever going to move into the future, here? OK. Thanks for listening to me bitch blow off steam.

In the clip they showed tonight, there was definitely someone sitting beside her. I think this is a clue to everything that is happening. Maybe.

In the clip they showed tonight, there was definitely someone sitting beside her. I think this is a clue to everything that is happening. Maybe. Nice catch, though yes - I have that same "it's a clue - maybe" kind of reaction. It's also the kind of thing that sometimes just gets past story editors and is an unintentional inconsistency. SO - if it is a clue, what would it mean? That . . . people's memories have somehow been altered, or . . . each experienced the incident somewhat differently, in an alternate dimension kind of way, and we were seeing say . . . Charlie's version, not Rose's? And if so, where would the story go with either one of these ideas? If I had to guess, I guess I would go with 60-40 in favor of "accidental inconsistency." I favor the "accidental inconsistency" a bit, for the simple reason that I can't make real sense out of it if it is deliberate - I don't much like my two theories, above. But surely there may be a theory I've not thought of, and it seems so odd to make a point of Rose telling us where her hubby was, then to show him sitting there, so I still give a rather large "40" to the "clue" idea.

I thought that it could be just one of those 'inconsistencies' that happen, too. Or, like you said each of their realities bend to their desires, in a way. I had an idea that the narrator on 'Lost' tonight is the actor that played Pavayne in "Hellbound". He wasn't that creepy then either. And it's odd that I've talked in a circle here.

After those demons got done with her, it took a lot of reconstruction. It's now stickied to the top. Vlad

But seriously - yes, I figured she just hadn't stickied the thread yet, I was just disappointed about the ep, and I had to take it out on someone. And Patti loves it when I choose her for that kind of thing.

And Patti loves it when I choose her for that kind of thing. That's true... last year I was very flummoxed on whether to buy her latex or leather for her birthday. I finally said screw it and went for both. Ms. Dungeon has a wide selection of gifts for all depravities. She seemed excited by the surprises, but it was hard to tell what she actually said past hte gag. Vlad The above is pure fantasy! Patti is, to the best of my knowledge, not into any form of BDSM. Creative license was used heavily. Thank you.

Getting back to LOST, I realized something that bothered me athte time... I hate the fact that they used the amnesia bs with Claire. It seems like the first time that the writers actually dipped deep into the well of "cliche'" in order tfor the story to move along. I understand that they didn't want Claire to be able to relate what happened to her in the jungle with Ethan, but it was jsut sorta "oh come on." I know there are "reasonable" explanations for her amnesia..from stress to maybe something that was done to her... but even so.. it was something I jsut didn't like.

I, for onem am highly suspicious of why they didn't put any bits of Hurley's magic number ride in there. Trying to hide the significance, perhaps? Oh, yeah, they're trying to downplay the wacky doomed numbers so they can smack us upside the head with them in the exciting season finale!! ;D Or else they're just dumbos who thought Hurley's storyline wasn't interesting enough to make the clip show. My latest favorite theory? The numbers, read backwards, count down the number of survivors we'll be left with at the end of each season. Lola

I taped this retrospective episode but haven't watched it yet and may not. After what ABC showed last Sunday for "Desperate Housewives", which did not do more than present a Cliffs Notes version for those with shorter memories or less obsession than is possessed by the habitues of this board, I got the impression that it was all ABC's idea to jog the memory of casual views and prepare for a big sweeps audience to end up the season. I anticipated the "Lost" rehash to be much of the same.
