So that's how Tom died. And yeah, she did kill him, under the legal definition. That's second-degree murder, at the very least. Sort of a jury situaition... Confession time... what will she confess to? I didn't really figure she did posion him, if only because it was too... easy. Shannon has that "circling vulture" look about her, no? flashback? no, commercial. Okay, "stones falling" noise with no fadeout means "flashback" WITH fadeout means "commercial" Kate sure has a violent background doesn't she? Everywhere she turns there's shooting, death. Honestly - perhaps it's part of disliking the actress' acting skills but I'm not at all a fan of Kate. Are we supposed to like Kate? I guess so. We're being shown that all the castaways are dislikable with problems in their past. No one has come through all shiney here. As soon as Tom mentioned his wife was out of town - I knew he was going to die. It was almost a CSI moment where having any type of extramarital sex = death. Not that there was frolicing going on here but there was definitely emotional frolicing so As Anne mentioned - Hello - here's your redshirt. You'll die on page 47. Hee, hee.

While the phrase has been around for a while, I just thought I'd note that the unofficial motto of the 2003 Red Sox was "cowboy up." Given they've made reference to the Sox on the show before, it may not be a coincidence that Sawyer used it tonight. Really? Another interesting fact. You're a fount of fun facts Sara. ;D

I was very tired when I started watching the ep, and it didn't exactly get my blood pumping. Ohio - the heart of it all! I liked those plates. I used to have those plates. The ones I have now say something different. I can't remember what. Episode, I think is about finding "your spot" in life. Knowing who you are or some such thing. Wow. I really am tired. Must go to sleep. I may have to rewatch this one tomorrow, I practically dozed through some of it. Catch you later, my S'cubadorables. Pretty much my reaction too. Very sleepable ep.

Boy, Sawyer just came right back at Kate like a pit bull. You challenged him, Kate. You reap the concequences. (And then she tries to give him that little flirty smile ) "Ain't anything on this island worth staying for." Ouch! That's gotta hurt! Walt told dad about the raft! Wooot! And, without a second thought, Michael turns everything around for his kid "We can stay here". That was truly a lovely moment. For all their problems, he loves his kid. So then of course we have to get the scary music and creepy warning. Something tells me, if Walt says we gotta go, you'd better go! Interesting line from Kate: "Jack's good at keeping secrets". Sarcastic? Truthful? She knows something we don't? Important? Kate and Sun bonding over girlish dreams of Prince Charming - awwwww. And then - CFL Danielle!!! Yay!!! Now Sayid and Hurley can fight over her and she'll pick Hurley! But - run, hide or die? Um. I'll take numbers one and two, please. Next week should be good! Ohh great post Lola. Yes - I would say Kate got in a good zinger there. I can just see Sawyer all hurt and fuming. Probably had to go grab Turniphead and read him excerpts from "The Shining" to relieve all his pentup angerhurt. Michael has really been all knight and shining dad lately. He still has his jerk moments on the island but he is spot on with Michael. I think J.J. and company threw us a little filler ep this week figuring we would watch anyway since it's almost the end. Nothing much happened this episode. We didn't find out any more about the hatch. The raft is still sitting there. And far from adding any insight to the little toy airplane mystery - instead now we have to wonder how it got from the car to the bank vault.

(I'll have to rewatch the tape before tomorrow's new show.) My mind was more absorbed in reading the VM finale thread. It's funny how I feel that VM just got richer in content and mystery and Lost seems to have cooled down somewhat ( gone "mainstream"?) over the course of the season. I hope the finale leaves us a lot to think about. I wonder over what period were the "Ohio the Heart of it All" plates issued? Ohio plates have for years had expiration stickers in the corner with month and year for next renewal. Can anyone zoom in on the plate shot and check? Then we'd have an idea of when Kate decided that being a blond definitely was too much fun for her own good!

Or perhaps, not fonder, but . . . more involved? More invested? So I agree with you somewhat. That said, I think that we will see Lost heat up again in these last few hours. I think we were seeing the calm before the storm, as it were. Lola

Even though the waves are calmer, the start to the finale brews up quite a storm@ That said, I think that we will see Lost heat up again in these last few hours. Spring - loved your review! I thought I had posted a nice long response here late this afternoon (Wednesday), but I must have forgotten to hit 'post' after I previewed it. I'm losing my mind. I'll try to recreate it tomorrow. In the mean time, imagine kudos and woo-hoos and many words of insight here! One response to a question you asked that I do remember: Yes - Kate does make Sawyer Randy.

And thanks especially for confirming my suspicion about Randy.

Yay, Spring! Loved your twin themes of knowing and helping. They could really be themes for the entire season, couldn’t they? What people know and share; what people know and hide. How and why people help – or don’t.
We know more and more about the characters as each episode airs – or do we? We learn things, but are they always the important things? How much is still inside? When it comes to personal secrets and details, the handle is always on the inside. We’re gonna learn as much as they let us learn; they’re gonna share information with the others as much as they want or, for many of them, as much as will help them.
Hurley is the guy who generally is gonna share the knowledge with others. And yet . . . he’s still not talkin’ about the numbers, is he? Of course, he might be trying to protect the other survivors – or have (not unreasonable) fear that they’ll think he’s nuts. And of course, he did try to share some info with Charlie and was promptly disbelieved.
Loved your photo comments. **still snortling over “I want him to know me, biblically. Why won’t he help me?”**

How and why people help – or don’t. Thanks, Lola. Yes - I think Hurley truly believes he caused the crash, and he doesn't know how to share that so anyone will believe it. I just can't understand why he has yet to show up at my doorstep.

Got enough license plates?
Stealing from the Maids cart? Tsk Tsk!!!
So... Kate's not a natural brunette?
Joan Hart.
Nice transition
Charlie thinks that the group made a come back when everyone thinks that he died. Ha!
Fame. Maybe not a good thing.
Hey, it's that guy.
Science class.
Monsoon season is bad. True dat.
They had to leave yesterday.
Kate, nosybody much?
Now she wants to go?
Kate knows how to sail. Of course.
I decide what's best for my boy. Eep.
Wearing enough make up?
Rm 208
Don't like the cops, do we?
Is this guy wearing a toupee?
Three hours to kill. Hot monkey sex?
I wanted you to have an open mind. So THAT's why nobody ever tells each other anything on this show.
Actually, he's got a point. Sort of.
Locke is soooo smug.
Vote him off the island!!!! Do it!!
Only chance of running is getting on that ship, isn't it?
And Sawyer's got a point too.
Finding the island again might be hard.
Appendicitis?
All due respect Jack, when do I report to you?
Sayid's got his "I'm in love face on again" and he's enjoying the HoYay
And Locke's got a point again.
I can think of a lot worse things.
Garnering sympathy from Walt though.
What a stunning tree.
Digging for treasure?
What do you think it is?
Something in the water.
You and Locke kiss and makeup? See? Everbody knows!!
Michael and Jin fighting like a married couple.
Poison?
Well how am I supposed to keep straight who knows what around here! Excellent point, Hurley, excellent point.
Haircut-->Sex?
Monster eats the pilot. Hee!!
Do you really think I'm capable of that? Oh, not the Little Miss Innocent act.
So they're in Iowa. She's from Iowa?
Is he going to turn her in?
So it's just childhood treasures. Time capsule. And it's his plane. So he's the man she loved and killed.
Tom.
1989.
You always want to run away, Kate. Yeah, and you know why? Why? Why?
Yep, hot monkey sex. Or not.
Pedophilia?
Walt's premonition. Don't open it.
Jumping to conclusions again.
Who's the criminal? Well, I'd say just about everyone.
Ah, that's what she was doing with the passport.
She don't care about nobody but herself.
Ah, it's her mom. That makes sense.
She betrays her own daughter? Wow.
Car accident. Yep. Maybe it was the bullets.
Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, is all I'm saying.
Ostracized. Worse just because there's an official record?
Ah, she did it!! And it was intended for Jin. She knows about plant poisons.
I don't see any reason why they need to know. Except that everyone's still pointing fingers.
Setting sail tomorrow.
And he admits about burning the raft. And now he thinks they have to go?
Kate really did it and Sun was covering? Or conspiracy?
Why should you be punished? You were only trying to help me. Eh?
Jack's good at keeping secrets.
When I was little, I thought that when I met the man I loved, I would be happy and we would live together forever. Yeah, me too. Hmm...
So it's an episode about coming clean. And about when to tell and when to keep secrets.
So, better idea of who Kate is. I'm intrigued. Bit of a snowball effect. A bit like Faith with the running from problems and that only making things worse. Kind of makes me think of River Pheonix's character in Stand By Me, who wanted to go to a place where "no one knows [him]." She's fine until her past starts to catch up with her, and then there's no telling what she'll do (and how sloppily she'll do it).
Childhood trauma. Abuse or molestation, causing her to start running in the first place.
