<snip> Sawyer reached out to say good-bye (to Jack), but Kate hates good-byes, altho - but she did look back for Sawyer many times when the CL's group set off. The plane's flight was 15 hours Long. Paper - Messages in a bottle. Sun's Korean/English translation book. Any other? Sawyer looked for Kate too, right before they left. But no Kate. I think they're headed for a hot clinch, at least, next season. Ep had many instances of communication and connecting being the key to letting go of blame and guilt - the positive effects of communication . . . though we also get a reminder that too much talking isn't always a good idea either, with Artz commenting that Hurley can't keep a secret. Yes. Communication being the key. Love that. Of course, communication is going to cause a lot of trouble - as in 'why the heck are they listening to the CFC'? Oh yes, let' follow the crazy lady to the black smoke, rock, and whereever else she's leading them to. Oh yeah, the dynomite.

Hi all! I'm new, so bear with me while I figure this out.
So, why would you take Hurley on a long jungle hike? Did anyone find that strange being that he's just a little out of shape? I love the guy, but I would have left him on the beach to help with the raft.

I watched this clip a couple of times, and just didn't notice anything unusual. I mean - yes, if you look closely you can detect signs of what seems to be breathing, but it didn't seem like anything outside what could easily be attributed to the fact that the actor needs to breathe. At least, that's how it struck me, but I might be missing something - not looking in the right spot or some such thing. I have concentration problems. God, I was soooo bad at a long boring meeting today. I tried so hard to keep track of the conversation but I missed every other sentence, and I suddenly realized that I had unconsciously and openly doodled this whole page of stuff while others were talking . . . so don't go by me and my sometimes not-so-keen observiness. *Hug* Spring... Have I told you recently that I appreciate you so very, very much? No? Well... here I am doing htat. *smile* You have a very full life and yet you manage to do so much here for us and are always so apologetic when you can't give your usual 120%and it drops to a measly 95%. You are extremely so keen/observy girl! It shows in all your writings and hte thoughtful suggestions you contribute. As far as Ethan breathing, wehn i tried to download the clip it kept telling me that hte file was corrupted. So.. who knows!? Vlad

I am willing to bet that Jin nor Michael have any idea of it's existance. Sometimes selective communication is still the best thing. I personally trust Sawyer to use it correctly (or as correctly as either of hte two other hotheads sharing that raft with him are likely to ) Vlad

So what do we make of the title? Exodus? I don't know what WE make of it, but Proboards robot ad thing thinks we need Biblestudy.com. Julia, what I really need is my reading glasses

I think there area lot of reasons that Hurley went along, but primarily because Hurley WANTED to come along. He was part of the insiders group that Jack showed the hatch to. He has ties to the French Lady from previous. And he has already shown that his size and weight aren't dehabilitating to their group travels. It was he that re-found Danielle and got hte battery from her, after all. He made it across that bridge... yeah, Hurley is fine with traveling and under most circumstances he keeps his head and is quite reasonable. Just don't let him see the blood. Vlad

Let's see:
1) Jin should have stayed with his wife, now that he has something worth staying for. I don't care if he thinks he can save her this way. He's gonna die, and I'm gonna be mad.
2) I don't have much else that's new. Loved the Jack/Sawyer moment, but who didn't, and I only had eyes for Jin....

No!! I love glib, gun-toting, secret-keeping, Hurley-lovin', "that's when he lost the arm" CFL!! Very kind. I'm starting to like him. If he sends the right people into the cornfield, I think I'll like him even more. Complete bitch! She is SOOOOOO evil! Evil! Evil! Evil! Get her away from Sayid nowwwww! He's totally the Professor on the island. I want him to build a radio out of a coconut and help them figure out how they all got superpowers from eating stuff they grew from radioactive seeds. Oooh, nice one. ;D Oh, can I say I hate Azrhyhh whatever his name is for his "never tell a secret to a fat guy" crack? I hope the island eats him. Grr. Not that it improves things much, but I think it was "THE fat guy". Meaning Hurley in insensitive junior high science/gym teacher speak.

And now we have Jackstory... Little does she know that she's gonna be an evil Zombie Warrior. okay....How did I miss those Evil Zombie Warriors? And, later on, someone else talked about Evil Zombie Demon Warriors..... Guys: What did I miss? I only left the room to grab a box of tissues, 'cause I knew this was gonna be a tear-jerker..... Exodus can mean a lot of things - emancipation from slavery, vast migration, fear, plagues. Even though we associate an exodus with leaving a place, it was preceeded by 10 plagues, including the death of the first-born male. I'm not too trusting that "Exodus" is a word that's value-free. There was all that wandering in the desert --- which reminds me: how much food/water did they pack on the raft? Or maybe the survivors on the island are the wanderers... And the fear folks who are part of an exodus must experience -- the loss of home and the fear, combined with anticipation and hope, of a new life in a new place.... The need to pack light -- no extra baggage of any kind -- so it's good to see the ridding of extra baggage that our characters did. Even Kate --- leaving behind her selfish priorities to go to the Black Rock to help, rather than to further her own agenda.

I love the guy, but I would have left him on the beach to help with the raft. First of all, welcome. Always nice to read fresh voices. It isn't specified, but I would guess Hurley is along because he has repeatedly proven himself as the most trustworthy castaway...most notably (in this case) in relation to French Chick, with whom he has an established rapport. She IS sort of leading the expedition, after all. Really wondering how in the world Hurley is going to explain the reaction when he sees those numbers on the hatch. There's no doubt in my mind he'll freak, and that's going to be very unsettling to the group. Whether he wanted the role or not, Hurley's become the emotional anchor of this bunch due to his utter lack of guile. There simply is no facade to delve into, except... The one thing Hurley has kept to himself up to this point. Methinks that's about to loom large.

Those freakin' numbers! Danielle got a good look at the hatch - did she see the numbers? Did Hurley? If they did, would they be more or less likely to want to hide there? And what did Hurley write in his note? I paused and zoomed, and I see that Hurley wrote the following: Dear Mom,
I assume you are still alive since me and my jinx aren't there to kill you. Me and my jinx got dozens of people killed when our plane crashed. I got the rest of us marooned on one scary-ass island. That's where I am now. By "now", I mean when I'm writing this.
There's all kinda weird dudes and dudettes on this island. There's a doctor with tatoos like a biker, and an escaped con with a face like an angel, and a goofy looking little kid who beats me at backgammon. But I'm getting along.
Well, ma, I hope they've declared me dead by now, and you didn't cry too much, and you are happily spending my money.
Love, Hugo
PS>There is a gun-toting crazy French lady, and a man-eating polar bear also. I guess you were right that I shoulda packed the rosary beads.

That the folks on the boat are gonna be out there a loooong time? That both the boat folks and the island remainers are going to new locations? That Locke is going to be given the ten commandments on stone tablets? That manna will rain down from heaven? That the sea will part, and they'll walk home? I don't know - I think it was about escaping enslavement. Sawyer sets Jack free of his crushing dad guilt, Walt tries to help Shannon find release from her Boone guilt and grief, Jin & Sun set each other free . . . And to take it even further - Are we supposed to be seeing Jack as Moses? Is he going to be barred from entering the promised land? Lots of battles ahead, Ten Commandments, miracles - interesting. Okay I now have this picture of Jack in his little pharoah skirt before he was cast out of Pharaoh's court. Just please don't grow that scary-ass long beard Heston waas sporting toward the end of the movie.

I loved all your comments. Great, fun thread to read.
Let's see - I really loved the way everything was being referenced. There were a lot of little threads picked up and tied neatly together. Loved all the little snippets from the Shannon/Sayid/Boond (Hi Boone!) adventure at the airport (bitchy, non-crying Shannon made an appearance) to the Geisha gal comments from the snooty Americans.
And a great, big smoopy awwwwwww to Sawyer for telling Jack. Wow - was that a great scene. Also - it looks like Sawyer has been working out a little to me. His abs looked trimmer than his last shirtless scene. Not that I noticed or anything.
And with all that sweat - no need for any oil for the boys to play.
I'm with everyone on the no one hugged Sawyer goodbye moment. I did like the way they played into the Kate/Sawyer adversial relationship and the searching looks both of them cast. Nice.
Karen - where's Johnny Depp? - hee, hee, hee.
Another big smoopy awwww moment between Jin and Sun. That was wonderful, nicely acted, a nice cathartic moment between the two actors. And I also enjoyed the hesitant handshake, hug that Michael and Sun had.
It must be a bite to still have that handcuff on his wrist though.
I wanted to see the Monster. And I for one thought he was going to eat Ardtz - otherwise known as the teacher most likely to be eaten or blown up next week. Nobody disses our Hurley.
I missed the very last minute when my VCR switched over to Alias. Anything happen after Vincent swam back to shore? What were the previews?
