Ellie said "...Our girl is in heavy denial and she is going to have to face the consequences of her instantaneous connection and attraction to her "enemy" nature b/4 she understands all that "I have the power" malarky she keeps spouting..." Agreed. But first we'll have to endure watching her try out a relationship with her boss before she comes to her senses and acknowledges Spike as her true soul mate and love of her life. Of course by the time she does either her life or his is bound to be cruelly brief, because Joss won't be happy unless he can stomp all over our Spuffy filled hearts.

has the most beatiful lyrical writting style! Rusty, I really enjoyed Chapters 1 and 2, the descriptions were beautiful and the characterisations and voices of the characters ring true. Keep up the good work! (And judging by your style, I think you really will enjoy that Outlander novel.) And speaking of books, Athene, I picked up Gospel at my local library. I was slighly put off in the prologue (I got too wrapped up in the footnotes.) but when the story actually started, I found that I liked the heroin and Barnhardt's writing style. (Not to mention that I sympathise as one grad student to another!) Thanks so much for the recommendation.

I skipped the prologue myself, WaterGal, the first time. Should have warned you about that. Barnhardt's writing style never shone so brightly as in his first novel "Emma Who Saved My Life". I must have loaned out three copies which I never got back... Anyway, enjoy -- glad you like it so far!

Thank you for the nice feedback. It's hard to do things like this in a vacuum and I'm a bit self-conscious about it.Please feel free to continue. The beginning is always the hardest. Of course I already see the typos...Arrgh!

The Soulful Spike Society web site has grown so rapidly and beautifully, it is awe-inspiring. I hope that any of our readers on this board who have been inspired by any character or event in the Buffyverse to write(or draw or paint, or build or...?), will share their creations with the rest of us. If there is a way to display your work through the Soulful Spike Society web site, our resident technopagan, Vlad, will know how to do it - even if you sculpt! Contact him through the address scubiefan@yahoo.com and tell him what you have. Don't be shy - we all love the series and would very much enjoy reading, seeing, or hearing about your creativity.Alexandra K. P.S. Vlad - I hope you're conversant with attaching three dimensional objects to a web site *smile*.

In the scene where the military type says Riley gave orders concerning Spike, I think, per Riley, he's calling Spike "Ass-face", rather than "bass-face". Is this stupid name supposed to show that Riley can't even come up with a really nasty name to call Spike, because Riley is too farmboy good? Even *I* could have come up with a better dig than "Ass-face". Does that have any other connotation than the last time Riley saw Spike, Spike was buck naked? (Sadly, Riley got to see a lot more than we did.) Xander comes up with name tags for Spike *much* better than that.

All - I've been posting a bit on the episode site, and was thinking of working in a plug for our website . . Something along the lines of "since you're all Buffy fans and seem to enjoy analyzing the episodes and reading about the characters . . " I would mention that it was started by Spike fans, but that the analyses and fan-fic are fun for any Buffy fan. What do you all think? Is the site to Spike-centric to be of general interest - will it just disappoint anyone else? I don't think so, but I'm a little shakey on trusting my objectivity.Any comments appreciated, but particularly to Rusty & Robert . . . would you be OK with this, or are you feeling a little shy of "advertising" your work? Vlad?

Ass, bass - I can't quite make out what the guy is saying. I saw one of the reviews on Tabula Rasa that used "bass", but more posters mention "ass". Either way, it is basically boring, unimaginitive name-calling. It fits, because Riley was no Xander when it came to repartee. Mention of Spike showing Riley the "Full Monty" always makes me laugh. I loved that scene. It probably accounts for Riley's continued jealousy and bitterness :-). My favorite line in that scene was Spike saying "It's unconstitutional!". It was just amusing to realize Spike considered himself protected by the U.S. constitution - it was endearing.

I thought "ass-face" was a great line. It was delivered so seriously. Viewers and Buffy go, "huh?" at the same time. "Those were his 'exact' words, ma'am" C'mon !It was FUNNY. If only Spike had been able to defend himself at that moment.

Yes - I agree it was funny. It's very lameness made it even funnier. It was funny that Riley used the term, it was funny that it was pretty lame, it was funny that Riley continues to have that "rival" feeling with Spike and expressed it that way. I can just picture him smirking and saying it - with some affection, actually (for Buffy). It made me laugh when the soldier said it, especially the way he kind turned his head for a better look at Spike.

I would have gone with Butt-face, but I'm not as corn fed as Riley.

There's so much more on the site than just our literary efforts that I feel comfortable with letting posters to the Eps know how to get to S3. As far as my fic (which I just saw ON THE SITE! Thanks Vlad.), I see I'm going to have to fix a couple of syntax and puntuation problems before I'm ready for prime time. Not a detail person.

Choices, choices. Spike with eyeliner - Spike without eyeliner. With? Without. Spike with his beefcake look. Spike with his svelte look. Beefcake or svelte? Beefcake or svelte? Spike with straight hair or Spike with curly hair? Straight or curly? Spike with platinum locks or Spike with dark roots? Light or dark? Spike with clothes on or Spike wearing a smile? Clothes or a smile? (okay, I DO know my choice there.) Choices, choices. Indecision, inconclusiveness. Tearing of the hair. Too many choices, all wonderful. Grrr Arghhh! I give up. GIVE ME ONE OF EACH!! Solomon has spoken.

From Rob's great character piece to what looks to be Rusty's grand battle epic to Vlad's Buffy soliloque (I am sure I just mispelled that). Three different but fascinating stories. I have enjoyed reading them all a great deal.
