Rob's got his latest installment of Truth up on the website folks. Drop by and check it out. Things are really happening. It's full of dark magic, eerie lighting and some decent snarkiness *L* Seriously, it's a good read. I am sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did. *chuckling* I love being able to read this stuff first!

Yes, I thought there was a faint suggestion of roots growing out on Spike's hair, so I hope we do see the curlier, two tone hair. Also, I definitely agree with the sentiment expressed about spending more time with the regular characters since we have so little time left. I feel like precious screen time is being wasted whenever any of the Slayerettes are on screen. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't so very likely the last season for BtVS as we have known it, and maybe for all the characters. I also do think some of the Spike-pain was presented sort of . . . I don't know how to put it . . . tongue in cheek maybe. The writers have been putting Spike through so much endless pain, I sort of saw it as ME making fun of itself - like they did in "The Zeppo" with the Buffy/Angel firelight & tears melodrama scene. I definitely didn't see Buffy as indifferent to his pain. Also, I agree Buffy acts like she's afraid of Spike, though I think it is her feelings for him she is afraid of.

Spring -That quote is a lot closer. Might be good because I'm a librarian. It would just have to be an inside joke type of quote for those not up on their Buffyverse. I'll try it out for awhile. Thanks.

Thank you. I'm actualy happy people took the time to read it, even if they didn't like it. I have one more chapter to go; there are some things that need to be cleared up.

Yay-Deborah -you quoted me. I am honored. i agree with your take on everything. Except- I kind of understand buffy's reluctance to own up to her comfort with Spike. She is spontaneous physically with him when taken unawares but when she is thinking out her reactions she is cautious and distant. She does not trust herself with him yet. Remember that sweet sidelong glance at him in the graveyard after the Slayer Babies teased her about her unconscious gesture of physical support? Our girl is in heavy denial and she is going to have to face the consequences of her instantaneous connection and attraction to her "enemy" nature b/4 she understands all that "I have the power" malarky she keeps spouting...

Ok-- I finally got around to watching the show a second time. I really tried to give Kennedy the benefit of the doubt. That girl is just not believable as a partner choice for Willow in any dimension. She is trying too hard- i think maybe the young actress is a tad uncomfortable with making sparks with Alyson Hanigan.. (Maybe b/c she is intimidated by the actress or the 'gay" thing.) I found the storyline very touching- Willow always makes me cry whenever she does so I was a goner upon both viewings... but i could not buy the Kennedy/Willow pairing and it is a big flw for me b/c it make me wince. I kept imagining it if played by a more competent actess. I really think if this actress... would just relax and stop straining the flow would be easier to maintain. Anybody notice how variegated the little wicca group was? Sunnydale has b/c sooo much more multicultural of late. I actually liked several of the group rather better than any of Dawnie's 2 friends or most of the Slayer Babies of whom only Rona, Molly & Chloe don't irritate me.

"We've seen time after time that any physical damage that happens to a vampire is healed after awhile. So the chip would hurt Spike for awhile and then, when it went dormant or died, Spike's brain should regenerate again, shouldn't it? If true, then the whole decision would be based more on curtailing the pain Spike is suffering, rather than saving his life. " Yes, but they did say the chip would kill him if they didn't fix it. And vampires can get brain damage from starvation... so I think their brains have got to be somewhat vulnerable (that doctor said spike would be left as a vegetable if he operated to get the chip out in season five). I think it's a thing the show has trouble being consistant on. Anyway, the idea of something being in his brain forever and ever that shouldn't be also just bothers me, for some reason, even if it weren't doing damage.

: ...his writhing in pain in the background while Buffy tries to contact Riley was clearly playing for laughs in my humble opinion. : Actually, it was all too familiar to me. I was exactly like Buffy, frantically trying to contact the doctor while a sick child was screaming in pain on the floor. No laughs, believe me.

Damn, Rob, you should write for ME! Excellent story, characters rang true, satisfying and wonderful ending. I don't think what the show will do can equal it. Thank you.

Robert, I loved your story and what's more I bet Nicholas Brendon would too. Your plot and characters rang true throughout but of course it is Xander who in the alternative reality of your creation finally gets to have his say and unequivocally demonstrate his true worth. Buffy's response to his revelations clears the air from her side and brings them a mutual understanding and appreciation that allows them to be closer than ever. For a fleeting moment there I was afraid you were leading into a Xander/Buffy romance but then my insides went all warm and glowy for the actual outcome which seemed just right- in the sense of Goldilocks and the just right chair, the just right porridge and the just right bed. It all fell into place as it should be and all was right in the Buffyverse. I can't imagine that NB would not be moved by your story and want to save it as a treasured keepsake from his Buffy years. deborah

I haven't yet read all the postings since 5pm yesterday yet but I wanted to say that I never had any sense that Spike's pain was being played for laughs neither during my original or subsequent viewings of "The Killer In Me". Nor did I feel any sense of tongue in cheek. It all felt deadly serious to me. When Buffy was trying to reach Riley/The Initiative on the phone while Spike was having an attack on the stairs my sense was that she was deliberately tuning him out so that she could focus on relaying her plea for help to Riley. She knew that obtaining The Initiative's help was Spike's best and possibly only chance. As soon as she got off the phone she could attend to him. I too am tired of Spike's torment and torture and hope this is all resolved in the next episode. Too much time was piddled away holding him a prisoner of The First. There is no more time left for dragging this out. Spike's liberation from the chip is necessary before he can fully redeem himself. In what little time is left to us I want to see Spike restored in strength and once again in command of his own free will. I want to see him emerge as a major player as the story unfolds and finally resolves into what I hope is a spectacular finish (that won't cruelly tramp all over my Spuffy hopes and dreams). In "Something Blue" and "Him" it was obvious that we were meant to laugh. But I saw nothing funny or frivolous in the handling of Spike's pain in "The Evil In Me." (Nan, did I get the puncuation right here?) deborah
