Oh, OK. Maybe I was right. We need someone with closed captioning to chime in - oh, Matthew! Matthew was being forced to eat steak while the show was on, and was not near his computer.. He'll get back to you on that a little later... That's OK, Karen had her closed captioning on too.

Oh, OK. Maybe I was right. We need someone with closed captioning to chime in - oh, Matthew! It was Henry Gale - according to my closed captioning. And did he have an evil look on his face at the end of that scene or what? Never mind, then!

Yeah, CFL is not the most reliable source of information. Huh. So they made him into the torturer. Sunnuvabitch.. and he speaks arabic, too. Blood money. Clancy Brown ROCKS. Huh. That's kind of a subjective criterion, there, Sayid. Sayid knows Charlie was in on the gun heist.Woohoo! another station!!! Ah, that makes sense. So, that's why he went to Charlie. And I bet he goes to Ana Lucia next because she has a big axe to grind... in someone's back. Who else? Michael, if he could find him. Locke for sure, because he's got to be totally pissed at Jack for threatening him. Jin, probably.. because he'll want to go after the ones he thinks snagged Sun.

Island is about things that are hidden. Lots of groups hidden from each other. Hidden bunkers. Hidden pasts of the inhabitants. Easy to hide who you are, because almost nobody else knew you from before. Good places to hide people, food, virgin mary heroin, guns.

Michael and Locke would be excellent choices, Karen. I wonder who will try to get Sawyer on their team?

Crazy French Lady. Our name for Rousseau before we found out she was Rouseau. (calling her Delenn just seemed funny, somehow)

*snortle* There was even a bit of lip and a snif. ;D And that oh so casual tone to his voice, all "I don't care, so there!" Yeah, but underneath it all.... he cares. He sounded just like he did when he confronted his father for STEALING HIS KIDNEY. Jack - he really didn't care if they all blew up, did he? A little more frantic than Xander/Jack in the boiler room, but still... that air of 'I like the quiet.' about him. (Yes, all of karen's roads lead back to Buffy)

But it makes sense, because he's smart like that. Wonder what's going to happen to the people like Claire and Aaron, and Rose and Bernard, who I tink are going to be reluctant to take sides.

Is that one of them poisonous frogs or with the hallucinogenic skin? 'Cuz the skin was sorta bright colors. Ooops. Well, I guess it don't matter now it's squished. Jack's ma-ad! Rich balloon man. So, if he buried her in the jungle, they could go find the body and check the story. Um. I think Sayid is projecting a bit there. I think you really have to open the door Locke. Even if he is an Other, things are not going the way they should be. Oooh! Threaten Locke with the button! Tell me what I want, do what I want on both sides of the door! Jack is smarter than he looks . . . . sometimes. Oh, that's disappointing! Egyption symbols and then it goes back to the damn numbers. We almost had an SG1 crossover! Woah. That was kind of an "Other" look on his face, wasn't it? Um. Or, a WTF are you guys doing to me look, I guess. Almost had an SG-1 crossover - heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I personally would avoid touching any froggies I found on that island, unless I were with a trustworthy frog specialist; some frogs exude poison. That being said, Sawyer shows his nasty streak again in crushing the frog and giving it to Hurley with that tacky remark about tasting like chicken.
I never liked Sawyer much before ; I despise him now.
Great acting by the fellow playing Sayyid.
Hey, Jack shows considerable spine - going mano a mano with Locke with the fate of All at stake - takes guts.
I missed the last words of the episode - what was said after Charlie asked Sayid why he was talking to him?
Did you notice that the American officer had a photo of Kate - must be her stepfather? Forgive me if someone else already spotted it.
Um, did they kill Sayid's commander? If he'd gone back to the Republican Guard and squealed on Sayid's having tortured him, wouldn't Sayid have been toast? And I didn't quite catch whether the gas had killed members of Sayid's family in the incident involving that commander, or whether it had been a similar incident.

Also, the island is good at coaxing out what is hidden. Bringing out the con-man in Sawyer, the torturer in Sayid, the poutyness/insecurity in Locke, the what would you call what is brought out in Jack - his superior sense of what is the right thing to do? They're all in an asylum working throught their issues. I keep thinking of that Hotlips line from M.A.S.H. This isn't a hospital, it's an insane asylum. And it's your fault!

Maybe he's an Angel fan? Sayid said that Jack and Locke had forgotten that Charlie had been taken and hung, and that Claire had been taken for a long time. Then he asked Charlie if he had forgotten. I thought she looked familiar. I wasn't thinking Kate, tho - but Fred.
Not sure about Sayid's commander. I assumed it was Sayid's town and family that had been gassed. The knowledge of that is what allowed him to torture his commander. Hi Gail!

He calls her previous visit "a diversion". Does Sayid believe she's working for/with some group of Others? I love Sayid. He doesn't hurt his fellow Iraqui soldier by telling the American soldier what he's really saying. But he also doesn't do teh suicidal "grab the gun" thing and does the honest thing in translating the questions. Eeeep! Keep at room tempurature for 7 years? That's scary. Why's he want to shoot a frog? Does he love frog legs that much or was the froggy mean to him or something? Oh goody - someone's in the net! So. BIG continuity question. Sawyer has just pissed off all forty-odd people who are left, completely and totally. There is one other person with a rifle present, in Sayid. Where the hell was Sawyer's rifle du jour in this? I know he's got plenty more back inna jungle, but I find it completely and totally uncredible that he would leave one in his shack, untended, thinking it was inviolate. That HE was inviolate. He would not leave it behind, because the ONLY person he trusts is himself. I thought it was incredible that he could sleep. I think he stashed the other gun as well.

I think that Clancy Brown (was that the officer you meant? The Kurgan?) was telling Sayid that Tariq was responsible for the deaths of the relatives that Sayid had die in that village. And I'm pretty sure that Tariq had an "accident" of some sort. Either while Sayid was learning that he could torture, or after they had the information they wanted. You commit war crimes of that degree, you don't leave evidence behind. (uh, or at least, I wouldn't.)
