2 tidbits from lj-land: community.livejournal.com/lost_geek/160488.htmlLocke's dad...said he was running a retirement scam...we all know of a man who made his living doing retirement scams, etc...a man who would be that age now...is this the man who scammed Sawyer's mom? Obviously, he goes by a different name, but who uses their real name when running a scam?
...We were a little curious about the bank and whether it was the one Kate helped rob, though it seems a stretch, you never know. That thought did cross my mind last night (and promptly went away - too many clues : . It seems pretty fantastic, but what a twist that would be, if Locke's dad was the one who scammed Sawyer's mom and dad and inadvertantly caused his Sawyer's dad's death. Did we ever find out what happened to Sawyer's mom? I thought she killed herself, according to Sawyer's note.

And if they dig and find something, will it be a prop corpse? Some of those Others can hold their breath for a really long time. Forgot to tell you this made me laugh out loud. ;D And when you think about it, it actually was a prop corpse.

Jack. tsk. tsk. Bum chica wawa! Airdrop! Henry was waiting for the Air Drop, and that's how he got caught? It's *your* hatch. Yep, Sayid dug up the grave. Sayid who objected to the dead on the airplane just being burned rather than observing each respective religious rites. No woman, but a man! The real Henry Gale!!! OMG!! Ayup. Hey, has anyone ever mentioned that Henry Gale was Dorothy's uncle's name in The Wizard of Oz?

Sawyer's dad murdered his mom, before killing himself in Sawyer's bedroom.

"Should I go get a ruler?" LOLOLOLOL. Hee! Loved that line. Also Sawyer's reason for knowing what amoxycillon was (well, who doesn't?) - I've been to Jacksonville. (hee! Jack-sonville) [/s] Tallahassee (my bad - I wonder where my head was. : Something was burning, and it wasn't from the sunshine. LOL![/quote] Huh. Kate was gonna head for Tallahassee the night that the Marshall-guy caught her the first time: this is the second time that no-account little pissant town's been mentioned. Something to do with the High Magnetics lab there? Or Paul Dirac(discovered antimatter)'s research? Or am I just reading far too much into a coincidince?

Or maybe he was gambling that anyone who went through the trouble of checking his story wouldn't go so far as to dig the body up--the average person is going to be far too squeamish for that kind of due dilligence. His bad luck that the people checking were a cop and an Iraqi torturer. But - you're suggesting that Bogus-Henry knew ahead of time that he might need a cover story, so he made the pretty grave for Real Henry? Very pre-cognitive of him, unless he planned to get himself kidnapped . . . no . . . it's not impossible, but not making a lot of sense to me, that he would make a pretty grave knowing, or thinking he might, need a cover story. Unless "Henry" is a deliberate infiltrator - never thinking someone might actually dig up the pretty grave. I think the plan was to get another "other" inside our folks' camp, a spy, as it were. And the grave scenario isn't out of line with the sorts of convoluted things JJ Abrams has been known to make his spies do.

Yay!! This is why I love the interwebs. I knew that by the time I logged in this morning, someone would have capped the glowy map thing! ;D I didn't think it looked like Sayid's Nadia, but I'd have to go back to eps with her in them and rewatch. Yup, I'm pretty sure that was her. A screencap from "Solitary": And one from this ep: Huh!

What else you gonna do, with a name like that?

In all honesty, I thought that last week’s episode, “The Whole Truth” was a little better. However, I must admit that Locke’s flashback tied in very well with his issues regarding abandonment, whether it had to do with Helen, Anthony Cooper or Henry Gale. He must have believed that his faith in Gale had been confirmed, whereas it didn’t with Helen and Cooper had failed in “coming back to him” . . . until Sayid, Ana-Lucia and Charlie returned with proof that Gale was a fake. As for the Jack/Sawyer poker game – I wish someone would explain the literary applications of their scenes. I had felt as if I was watching some macho bull crap with both men trying to impress Kate and prove who is the superior man. It seemed very adolescent. And speaking of adolescent behavior, Kate’s remark to Jack that she was glad that he had beaten Sawyer made her seemed like a very immature thirteen year-old. And we’re supposed to believe in the Jate relationship? Although Ana, Sayid and Charlie’s discovery of the happy-face balloon did not seem like much at first, it did provide an explosive finale with Sayid exposing Henry as a fake. Makes me wonder why Henry had bothered to give Ana-Lucia an accurate map, if there was a chance that he might be exposed. And why did Henry hang around to help Locke and not take the opportunity to escape? I see that Charlie has yet to explain how he had a gun in his possession. And Kate looked absolutely shocked by the revelation that Jack had lied to her about what was going on in the hatch. Knowing her, she’ll find a way to brush it aside in an effort to get back into his good graces. One last note – what was that diagram on the hatch about? And will it encourage Locke to become even more attached to the hatch? Re: the red: I think that about sums it up, pretty well. I don't think there was much else in the way of literary subtext.

Ayup. Hey, has anyone ever mentioned that Henry Gale was Dorothy's uncle's name in The Wizard of Oz? Yup! Lola caught it first, I think: Henry Gale, and in a hot-air balloon, no less. What else you gonna do, with a name like that? I'm starting to feel like the writers are the ones full of hot air - too many loose ends, not enough resolutions. This episode had some nice bits, but far too much of it was filler flashbacks, and we still don't know how Locke wound up in a wheelchair, do we? I had a couple of random thoughts, which I just remembered - I think Jack lied to Kate about the broken plumbing in the hatch - he was taking a shower last episode (I think) and someone got a glass of water, which didn't look muddy to me, this one. I think he's just trying to keep her from finding out about Henry (or does she already know? I can't remember). I also think that Sawyer, when it came down to it, let Jack win the medicines. I think they were pretty much equally matched as players. Sawyer will do the right thing, if he can make it look like he has no other choice, or it isn't his fault. I could also hear the pitter-patter of little slashfic-writing fingers during the poker tournament - next time, Jack and Sawyer play strip poker? Anne, now I really do need to finish making lunch
