I think that woman had told Hurley the truth . . . there were no survivors of Flight 815. I think that the island is some kind of spiritual way station in which the passengers' souls are being examined and judged before they move on. Like the Albert Brooks/Meryl Streep movie, "Defending Your Life". I believe there is something similar in both Egyptian mythology and West African mythology. If that is the case I am going to be one pissed off person. I feel it is too easy of a cop out for them to finish the series in that fashion. That theory has been around since season 1. I beleive the writers have already shot down a purgatory type ending.

It would explain why the series depends so heavily upon character flashbacks . . . and the odd nature of the island.

So, Sun's gonna go to her dad for the money to pay off Jin's mom. And then Mr. Paik is gonna have the money-grubbing hag killed. And Sun would've sold her husband's soul to the devil to save him from shame. Lose/lose situation, just like her pregnancy. I'm not sure I believe (at all) that pregnancy is necessarily fatal on the island. This info is coming from the Others, and being told to the Losties. It is mucho suspect!

I don't know why, but I would like that explanation. Though - that doesn't work so well for The Others. Ben was born there, Juliet traveled there . . . hmmm. Could it really be a "transition between life and death" island, and have real "live" people on it? Who knows. I've never been to such a place so I really don't know about the tourist accomodations . . .

Could it really be a "transition between life and death" island, and have real "live" people on it?Who knows. I've never been to such a place so I really don't know about the tourist accomodations . . . About a month ago I caught a western on TNT (called Purgatory) which was set in a town called Haven—Haven turned out to be purgatory, and it was a place where folks like Billy the Kid, Bill Hickok, and Jesse James (among other lesser mortals ) hung out until the heaven/hell question was decided. Which turned out to be entirely in their hands: if they could refrain from engaging in any misbehavior for ten years (drinking, picking up a weapon, etc.), then they got taken in a stagecoach to the good life. If not, an Indian came to take them to the other place (nice little racist touch for a relatively recent film ). Anyway, a group of outlaws end up stumbling upon Haven, and upon realizing they could run amok without a townperson raising a finger to stop them they... well, ran amok. One of the outlaws had not only grown a conscience but fallen for one of Haven's residents. When he learned what was going on, and that were totally screwed either way—if they fight back they go to hell, but if they're killed they cease to exist at all—he decides to stand up to his former partners, leading to the usual western-style showdown. My point being that the outlaws were alive, but they were able to interact with the dead souls in Haven. Not that a mediocre t.v. movie should be taken as any sort of indicator as to whether this would be the case on Lost...

I remember that TV movie. I thought it was pretty good.
Yes, it is possible that the Losties are still alive and who have stumbled into some kind of purgatory with the likes of Ben, Juliet, etc. Then again, they can still be dead and like those citizens are unknowingly being tested to see if their souls are worthy of ascending to another plane of existence - something similar to the Egyptian Hall of Maat:

I think that Juliet is being duped to think she is helping, when in reality (!) they are experimenting on the babies and the mothers. And fathers, for that matter.

I think that Juliet is being duped to think she is helping, when in reality (!) they are experimenting on the babies and the mothers. And fathers, for that matter. I had more the impression that Juliet is being . . . blackmailed or otherwise pressured, rather than being duped. I mean, I think she's fully aware that she is doing nasty things - I don't think that she thinks that she's helping. I think she knows that she's hurting people, and I think her actions are very deliberate. But I do think that she's being - at least in her own estimation - coerced (probably to do with her sister's health and happiness). Not sure what to make of Juliet's morals or character - I mean, whether she enjoys or has enjoyed doing the terrible things she's done, or whether she's been put in a spot that leaves her no good choices - but I do think that she has done terrible things, and that she is continuing to do them. And that she does them fully aware of what she is doing. Everything she said to Sun in this episode could be a lie.

Teaser Spooky music reveals... JACK!! That was odd. Maybe he and Juliet are in cahoots. Newlyweds. Paik automotive. Who is this woman? Is this Jin's mother? Desmond doesn't know this chick. Some one Penny sent maybe? Nobody know's we're here. [flare goes off] Oops. (hee!)

Part I
Secrets and lies.
Sun's suspicions of Jin, suspicions of Jack. Observant.
Oops. Don't tell Juliet that you're pregnant. But good for her for demanding answers.
She speaks Chinese, too.
It's... Mikail. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part II
Go Jin!!! That was awesome.
She speaks Italian too.
This is such a sweet scene between Sun and Jin's father.
Juliet wakes her up in the middle of the night, rather than, say, going during the day. Why so secretive?

Part III
So... the Caduceus Hatch wasn't abandoned.
Dude, I would have insisted that some one else come with me before I follow Juliet anywhere.
Hmm... so that's why Jin became a hitman. Was the money worth it?
Hee, love the look that Charlie gives Hurley. "Like I'd tell you." Hee.
Now Portuguese.
Juliet's lost 9 patients in the last nine years. Was what's what's her name who Sun shot on the boat also pregnant?
I'm helping you because I want to give good news again. Do we believe her?
Aha! A trap door!
Don't worry about it. Are you fucking kidding me?
It's where we brought the women to die. But it's a hidden room. Did they really die then, or are they just thought to have died? Maybe their children were actually born, and became the Clan of the Teddy Bear, unbeknownst to The Others.

Part IV
Mikail took the phone.
Nice to see that Charlie still wants to kill The Others.
Sperm count is 5x normal on the island? Because?
I lose either way.
Jin discovers the money.
the Losties have been on the island for 90 days.
The baby was conceived 53 days ago (assuming we can trust Juliet's word on this). So the baby is Jin's.

Coda Yep, she's Jin's mother. Do not force me to make that a reality. That was cold. Sun has two months (2 seasons) to live. Saturday morning. She's reporting to Ben. Of course. Getting samples. What kind? Ovaries would be kind of hard for her to surreptitiously sample. I hate you. But she does things for him anyway. Desmond brings up the fact that The Losties have killed more Others than vice versa (is that still true?) Charlie uses the "they started it" defense. Desmond's not taking into account the multiple abductions, etc. Hurley's calling his mom? They found the plane. THERE WERE NO SURVIVORS? ? What? You said it, dude.

Huh. Oh, and Hee! That is an awesome way to express reaction to Mikail's appearance.
