A series of possibly unrelated comments... I really missed Weevil. There is absolutely no heat between VM and the donut. Logan + KC = creepy. She's doing a great job - if that's what they were looking for. Logan is really beefed up - he must be weight training. Does Duncan have a "get out of jail free" card on all behavior because of "first boyfriend/first love" rights? It reminds me of Buffy's attitude towards Angel... Everything gets a pass because it's "Angel". Mr. Casablancas is seriously creepy...Jackie is a keg of dynamite - I'm worried for Wallace. But, man, is her dad hot! Speaking of fathers - I so love Keith! And...on a purely superficial note - I really don't like the wardrobe choices so far this season. Blech seems to cover it IMO. All in all - better than 2.1 - I'm still in denial over the bf switcheroo... Of course, any VM is better than no VM... I'm still uncertain whether Casablancas knows about Logan & the Mrs. or not. The firing range could have been an attempt at subtle intimidation, as could some of the things he said to Logan. Obviously, it was written to keep us guessing. I suspect either Mr. or Mrs. Casablancas will soon end up the victim of a homicide. Could be wrong, but that's where it looks like it's going to me.

Anna - love your comments. I agree - wardrobe seriously sucks this year. Blech!
I think Logan's size is the same but he was always in layers of clothes last year.

The comments can really play both ways, but I can't imagine a man like that knowing absolutely and playing word games in reaction. I guess we'll see... Anna

Random thoughts I decided to share - what the heck. ;D I really loved reading this thread. No wonder no one was commenting on the main Board last night. I know where I'll be next Wednesday... As for Logan - you don't think that his arms (especially) seem massive this season? Maybe it's just me... Anna ;D

Act the after that.. I banged on the wall, myself, in that situation, just to keep time.... Yep, I figured it would be him next door. And it rattles her. Why does she care who he was boffing? Because she's still crazy for him, silly woman. The HELL? (popcorn spookage) Creepy disturbing father person. heh... Condom wrappers... Woody is indeed a plastic man.. Huh. I guess this decides what Keith is gonna do . Wallace ROCKS!!!!! Veronica is gonna be pissed. "You look different, that's all" Wait, was that the opening notes of "where is my head"? And so the reporter winds up on the beach.. They all died because of her? Huh? Ahem. It's "Where is My Mind" and yes.<SNIP> I am awash with embarrassment and shame for my brain-dysfunction. Can I get partial credit for three-fourths of the title right, and knowing that it's the pixies? Pleeeeeease?!

I agree. EC did a terrific job in his non-verbal acting skills at the moment. I think one of the reasons I felt so much disenchantment last week was there was just too much crammed into the premier. The lame MOTW should have been ditched and the premier should have been a two-hour episode and I think I would have been much happier. Granted - I'm pretty sure the Donut sex/bf will endure for awhile so I'll probably be sporking my eyes out in the future but in a way, I'm glad VM is getting this out of her system. I believe Logan will be the long-run bf so if I have to endure VD, well I just have to endure it. As long as I can get shots of Logan/Veronica in the hall penicillan, I'm sure the infection will eventually clear up. Yes, last week's sub-mystery wasn't much and the time could have been better used. RT did a good enough job with the bus crash as motivation for Veronica resuming her investigative work; he really didn't need a "Wallace in danger" as a secondary motive. As for LoVe? Timing is everything. Too early, and we get Nick and Nora Charles The Next Generation. Don't get me wrong, love Nick & Nora but I don't think Veronica & Logan & Baby Makes Three is what they want as yet. I don't see him as the Thin Man, so much. Not composed enough.... he's fairly unflappable, but Nick Charles had better control of his temper. Which I realize has NOTHING really to do with what you are saying, but V. would make a GREAT Nora. But Backup's no Asta.

Ahem. It's "Where is My Mind" and yes. And here they are: Ooooooh - stop With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse But there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind [3x] Way out in the water See it swimmin' I was swimmin' in the Carribean Animals were hiding behind the rocks Except the little fish But they told me, he swears Tryin' to talk to me to me to me Where is my mind [3x] Way out in the water See it swimmin' ? With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse If there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind [3x] Ooooh With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Ooooh Try this trick and spin it, yeah Ooooh Ooooh So, I'm quoting myself here, because I think the choice of this song is significant. We have Logan sleeping with Kendell; Veronica sleeping with Duncan. We have a mysterious bus driver whose state of mind is in question. We have Dick Sr telling Logan that real damage is possible when you aim for the heart or the head. We have Keith announcing his run for sheriff as the opening strains of the song starts, as well as Veronica's internal fear that he's on to her evening's escapades. Not sure if Rob uses music in the same way that Joss does, but there is so much focus here on paying attention and/or doing something "insane" that I don't think it's an accident that the song pushes up further into that interpretation. This also fits in nicely with the Mona Lisa pillow; her enigmatic smile defies explanation of what's really going on in her mind...an indication perhaps, that Veronica's professed feelings for Duncan are not quite the whole story... Note, too, that she didn't correct Logan's assumption that sex with Duncan didn't exactly rock her world. Thanks, Erin, for pulling in the Mona Lisa pillow and the "Where is my Mind" references.. both of which seemed important to me, but for reasons my brain was not in gear to deal with at ALL last night. I like your interps. And I do think Thomas uses music very intentionally.. even the Dandy Warhols theme is about the estrangement and alienation V. has to deal with... and is still dealing with this year, even if from a different quarter.

Have you read RT's interview with MI.net discussing the music of the show. You can see it here: www.marsinvestigations.net/interviews/robthomas1.phpHe talks all about his obsessiveness in choosing the perfect songs for the show. In the past he has been oh, so very literal with his song choices. And I believe this one is no exception.

Yea, I was wondering that too. It can be viewed as two ways, one Mr. C knows or suspects and that was subtle intimidation, two that that is Mr. C in a nutshell. That was his view of a father/son bonding there. Which just creeps me out! The use of guns at all just must be significant in my mind, especially since RT stated months ago that he will only put a gun in a scene when it's absolutely called for, because he don't like 'em!

Yea, I thought the same myself. Though granted it's not his first name but when I first heard it all I could think is, 'No you can't use that name.' Yea, I have big problems with overlapping names in fandoms...

And next week's episode is called Cheatty, Cheatty Bang Bang which I love. After seeing this episode, I'm quite scared as to what the 'Bang, Bang' is refering to. Target practice anyone?
