So far we know:
Spring has the edit button
Lee H. has the edit button
Vlad has the edit button. Vlad says he uses Netscape 7.0
Rae reports she can't get the edit button on IE 5.5 or 6.0 or Netscape 4.08
I just downloaded Netscape 7.0 and I still don't have an edit button
I can't get it on Netscape 4.78 or IE 6.0
I have tried to get the edit button through Compuserve and a DSL connection. Nothing works.
I would appreciate having the Editors check out why a few people can get the edit function but many others can't. I can't see a rhyme or reason for it. A mystery worth solving, I think (show of hands on those who would like to edit their posts - one, two, three, wow, I don't think I can count that high even using my toes).

I've now exchanged friendly posts with Mary, author of Journeys, and invited her to drop in on us some evening if she'd like to. She says she's avoided boards in the past for fear of spoilers; I assured her we are vituously spoiler-free and repeated my invitation.
So if somebody with a screen name something like Mary shows up, group hugs are in order.

That would be great. I've emailed her a few times. I like her Author's notes as much as the fiction itself. She sounds like she would fit right in.

I have the edit button and I use Internet Explorer. It doesn't last long, if you don't edit right away (maybe before someone else posts?) it disappears.

I too have exchanged a couple of Emails with her in the past. She was prompt in her responses and gracious in her answers to my questions. Very personable. I hope she'll *stop by*.
Did you tell her about the amazing essays and fanfiction you and other Scoobies have written here? Okay, so I'm guessing you didn't say, "And btw, you don't want to miss my amazing essay on Spike, the Fighter" but I think she might enjoy reading some of the quality work coming out of this group.

Yes, it's the same CD. Joshua didn't want me to send him the CD, but wanted the playlist so he could see what was on it to access them on the internet.I have a feeling our taste in music isn't the same.
I know I threw alot of stuff on there. I tried to make the order a progression of the relationship. (Some tunes were a stretch, I know and I think I'd switch some around after listening to the CD several times.) Also the last two tunes are in the opposite order on the disk list than how they play on it.
Any favorites, or ones you thought were really Spuffy?

For whatever use it maybe:
I use Internet Explorer. When I go to the Help Menu and choose "About Internet Explorer", here is the version #:
6.0.2600.0000.xpclnt_qfe.010827-1803
The operating system I have at work is Windows XP. At home it is Window 98 SE (Second Edition).
I have the edit button both at home and at work.

I never expected this kind of response to my post. Thanks to all who took the time to read and respond. A few individual notes:
1. First and foremost, I wouldn't attempt to follow Spring into analyses. She's just too darn good at it. In the moments when I feel like I have a constructive thought I'll happily post it here, but a well organized essay just isn't my cup of O positive. If Vlad wants to toss something I write here over to the S'cubies site, that's cool.
I still click on the old Weetabix section over there to see my post that I signed Buffy Summers-Harris. It gives me a chuckle when I read the responses.
2. Someone made this point, but I'll reiterate it here. Knowing Spike as we do in Season 7, would he have done what he did in Seeing Red if he'd had his soul completely restored at that time?
I have no doubts about this. Spike wouldn't dream of it now, regardless of the pain she is causing him. It's the primary reason he went to Africa in the first place.
Was there a fractured moral compass within his vampiric self? No question about it. The remarkable thing is Spike the vampire having one at all. He had the strength to get it repaired, and that sets him indelibly apart.
Why else would Angel require so much more time to find himself? Spike's journey, while painful, is much shorter and simpler.
This is not to say it's easy; it most certainly is not. Compared to the things Angel has to make reparations for, however, it's a walk in the park.
The power of his feelings for Buffy brought him along quite nicely, thank you.
I'm not sure if this is a deep thought or anything, but's it interesting that love for Buffy ultimately brought out the absolute worst in Angel. On the other hand, it brought out the very best in Spike.
In the case of Xander, the quintessential Normal Guy, it did quite a bit of both. Hmmmmm......

I'm vaguely embarrassed to admit that "Spike, the Fighter" was an attachment to my initial post to her. I sent it as a present. I thought she might like it. Dunno if she did, she just commented in her reply that she likes essays. I don't know if she enjoyed that one. No matter--it's the thought that counts (I hope).

Hey, it'll be great to have fresh voices and talent. I haven't read her story, but if it's as good as everyone says let's hope she doesn't read any of mine and get scared off. Naw, seriously, recruiting is cool. The more the merrier.

Well, good for you. I'm glad you sent it to her and I can't imagine she didn't like it. Maybe her comments are still to come.

Nan, anyone who doesn't love "Spike, The Fighter" doesn't love Spike. Based on that advanced Earth logic, I'd say your work was well received. If I neglected to say it before, I'll rectify that now. You caught lightning in a bottle with that one. Truly wonderful.

Thanks so much for posting the review of Chance! I would love to have that movie, especially now that I know James has a really good part in it. I thought his acting was great in Winding Roads, but it is a dreary movie, with a boring and stupid heroine, imho. Chance sounnds so much better. Thanks again.

And btw Nan, I think your essay "Spike The Fighter" is definitely Slayage worthy. It would sure reach more people there. I wonder how they get new material?
