Need to work my way through the thread but before I'm all influenced and hell yeaing my reactions:
Magnificient emotional angst. Dohring and Bell were spectacular in their three scenes together.
The opening locker scene: Jason's voice as he mentioned the girl who smelled of marshmellow and promises. His looking down when she mentions going away. The spelunking face. How badly he wanted her to come. So, so terrific. This clip was up on Aol preview yesterday and I must have watched it 20 times during the day.
The Alterna-prom - God this scene kills. First Logan's reaction to Veronica's entrance the look the whew as he blows out his breath (she takes his breath away - and she did look terrific). His lean against the wall as he gathers his courage, the constant inching closer, the apology and his tear-filled wish he could do it different, the leaning in the caressing of the face - the epic line!
I love this, I just love this.
Veronica's reaction - perfect. Bringing up her Hannah shield (which she always does), the snarking about the epic, the quick looks, the reaction as she gets it, her vulnerbility wanting to kiss him, the quick reaction as she puts up her walls again and flees.
I stopped the tape and rewound this scene 5 times before I could go on and watch the end of the ep.
I knew it was coming as I had read about it but may I say - Jason and Kristen just knocked that out of the park.
Oh and before I forget - Jason in a tux - hot, hot, hot. Wasted Jason pouring out his heart - gulp, Jason in barely on sweat pants with hip bones showing - flail, flail - words are failing me here.
The final scene - where V got up her courage and Jason opens the door trashed and hungover - the pain simply emanating off the screen both of them heartbroken - Logan as he realizes what he did, Veronica as she barely holds it together - oh my God Emmy committee - just give them a fricking Emmy okay?
?
Do I blame Logan for a late night booty call if he did indeed have sex with Kendall after he poured his heart out to Veronica and she fled? No.
Do I think he had sex or Kendall is playing games here? Can't tell. Kendall has schemes and plans and who knows what game she is playing.
But these scenes clearly showed Veronica still has deep feelings for Logan and well obviously Logan is in love with Veronica. Angsty, emotional, heartbreaking and completely in character and inherent to the storyline - excellent. Well played, well written - kudos to Enblom.
The STD? First of all - bwah on giving Veronica VD but Rob what the what are you thinking? You know fans called the Veronica Duncan relationship VD and yet you gave her VD? I don't understand your mind spunky. But still - bwah.
Extremely well acted reaction from Veronica when she walks to her locker and sees the Duo of Blandness/boredom prom talking. Irritated and having just got the news, nice subtle edge from Bell there.
I hesitate to comment on where the STD came from because it just seems so out there. I'm guessing they won't retcon golden Duncan so obviously Veronica got it from Duncan. Duncan slept with Meg and Veronica. So - poor dead Meg must be due to get an STD.
But you know hospitals test for things like this and I find it stretching the bounds of credibility that they didn't find out about it while she was in the hospital with coma baby.
I doubt they will give Kendall an STD, nor do I think Kendall slept with Duncan. I'm guessing it's going to be poor Meg and she either slept with Lucky or had sex with a perverted parental and then passed it on to Duncan.
The rest of the ep - the stalking storyline ended up being a little lame because Lucky is sadly miscast. Seriously miscast - I really disliked him even being on screen. I get that they went with someone who looked like he could have been molested - slight, boyish and thus part of the whole throwing suspicion on Woody the potential child molester but still . . . . . I did not think the actor did a good job, didn't care about his storyline and felt it seriously dragged down the episode. Meh.
Jackie/Wallace - Rob I know you're glad your boy got some but seriously - I felt their whole scene destroyed the pace of the ep and they continue to reign as the boring storyline.
Jackie's line that she found out about the birds and the bees the hard way - either she was pregnant or had an abortion or there is some sexual secret in her past. That line had to mean something.
Other great things:
Mac and Madison in the elevator. Hee! Loved the simultanous Thank God as they exited (switched at birth indeed). Mac was so on - Prayer works! Dinner on a pirate ship! Every line - comedy gold. Loved her!
Veronia's conversation with Madison: On the lam! Cops all over you!
The shoutout to Trip to the Dentist when Veronica rescued the drink from Gia in case Madison spit in it.
Keiths: I don't believe you in singsong voice. Oh Keith I love you. Seriously.
The thief is Aaron's cellmate. Excellent! So Aaron had his cellmate steal the briefcase who gave the storage locker keys to Kendall who planted Duncan's stolen hair on the Oscar. And next week we get Aaron on trial. Can. Not. Wait.
Corny.
Loved the song playing during Logan and Veronica's scene at the Alterna Prom. Great song.
Dick - sliming it up as usual. Can't help loving the Dick.
Disliked:
Lucky as I said.
Jackie and Wallace - sorry guys, you're sucking screen time from things I want to see.
Jackie's dad's storyline - I'm sorry, I never bought you as a suspect and your red herring storyline is boring me silly.
Lamb oh so conveniently breaking up Keith and Lucky just as he is about to reveal a crucial bit of information. Hello- can we say plot device?
But overall - this was Veronica and Logan's episode and they sold every moment.
