havoc, just wanted to say that I finally watched the second half of the pilot Thursday and REALLY enjoyed it - and as soon as I get your review posted, I am going to watch last night's show - then I'll come and actually discuss!

I wondered if you were going to stop watching further shows. That's gotta be hard, tho, especially knowing the story is out there. Yes it is. I have a backlog of shows building; but, it does give me the chance to have them recorded and in my collection in advance. And I can watch them at my leasure as a result when the time comes. Think it will work out pretty well

I have separated out the two episodes into two threads. I was a bit confused when I created the dual purpose thread. Hope that doesn't screw up anyone's conversation here. Just...take the "Water" part over to the other one.

Cool. I watched it again the other night while I was working on polishing Water and doing my first revision of the next one - Bastille day. Glad you enjoyed the show and hope you liike the double episode. Was a bangup first night IMO I appreciated how closely the first two episodes followed the pilot. No unexplained gaps in time, they continued with the same level of suspense and 'dread' created in the pilot. "33" was classic - the nightmare quality of attack after attack was very effective. The acting is excellent in this show too. I don't know all these characters names yet, but the woman playing boomer is SO good - as is Dr. Baltor. I didn't think I could possibly fit one MORE show into my viewing schedule and so forgive me if I was kinda hoping I wouldn't like this, but darn it, I DID! I enjoyed your review of this episode havoc. I enjoyed the history trivia 'bits' and think they fit very well. Boomer...you say you know where your money is on the question of whether Boomer is human or Cylon based on the previous series. I don't have the benefit of the previous series - only the pilot - and I have a question. I believe the pilot said there are only five or six (don't remember which) 'models' of cylons who look human. Does that mean they were modeled on actual humans or does it mean there are five or six different 'flavors' of human-like Cylons? I have been assuming the latter is true, which means Boomer is a Cylon ...and of course has no idea of it. I agree with you - the acting and writing was very very good - and watching Baltor melt down is fascinating and engrossing. It's done so well, I found myself almost frantic trying to help him hold it together - and that was a shock - cause he's the BAD GUY!

It's done so well, I found myself almost frantic trying to help him hold it together - and that was a shock - cause he's the BAD GUY! I'm glad you liked it. My estimate of the worth of this series before I'd seen 5 seconds of it was a level beneath contempt. When I saw it, my opinion turned 180 degrees. On your question regarding the Cylon models, I don't know. That is one of the many things that is written as a mystery from day one. I think, for the moment, only the writers truly know that. Which is why I'm not particularly keen on dogmatic pronouncements either way. Till the writers clarify it we can have fun tearing it apart for pros and cons. But trust me, it gets even more interesting. I'll pull out the next two episodes tomorrow and run them through final reviews as I'm not certain yet as to what their release scedule is going to be. I have a feeling they are going to try and 'catch up' to Sky One's release schedule rather than making them re-air eps till the US market catches up normally. If they do, everyone is gonna get as spoiled as I am. LOL Re your comments on the actors, ditto. Grace Park is a really good actress. And given that she has multiple roles in each episode, that's a must. Jim Callis, who plays Baltar, is deserving of an emmy as far as I'm concerned.. and more if they give him his due. And the character is consuming and addictive. It's kinda like that 10 minute soak in a hot bath that you could lay quietly in for hours were it possible or healthy. And not watching some of the episodes I have recorded from Sky one right now is an act of self restraint the equivelant of quitting smoking. Ok, maybe not quite that bad; but, you get the idea. I love this show. TV for years has been pretty Blah and I normally would only watch the very best of movies as a result while making exceptions for my news shows and the occasional dabbling with the most recent incarnation of Star Trek. I now find myself addicted to several very good efforts on multiple networks and wish I had a clone to help me keep the schedule straight. Watching American Chopper reruns is getting a little old though. They need some new material.

I was just watching this again last night and it occurred to me, vis a vis the Helo/Athena storyline on Caprica, that the Cylons must have really read up on their hurt/comfort fic. LOL.
