Everybody ready for some tin cans? I'm not sure what that means, but this is one damn fine show. Not a dull moment and I love the characters already. I can't get over how the actor that plays Apollo sounds so American, but he's British. And a real cutie, too. The primer was very good. One gripe - too many commercials! Oops, back to the show.

33 - Now, that was messed up. What is the significance of 33 minutes? I didn't catch it if they told us. Being attacked every 33 minutes like that was like Ground Hog day in fast motion. So, is that what it meant? That the Cylons were trying to learn something from the humans or being taught something themselves? Huh. The actors/make-up artists did a fantastic job making the characters looked haggard after putting up with the attacks every 33 minutes for 5 -6 days. And on the 6 or 7th day they got to rest. hmmmm Just a random thought that struck me this morning. Liked the water episode, but I thought it was a little too pat that they found water so soon.

I missed it the first time around, but caught it on the second viewing: It normally took the Cylons exactly 33 minutes to successfully track the fleet. The only time it took longer was when the Olympic Carrier got left behind: and the Cylons showed up 33 minutes after it appeared. I was bugged by the fact that Apollo and Madame President were so fashed about whether or not destroying the OC was the right thing to do or not: Granted, they may have killed 1,300 people in the process of doing so, but the ship had declared itself hostile by not responding to hails, not following orders, and by having unexpected nukes aboard. Also, after it was destroyed, the Cylons lost them. Though, when the Cylons did not catch up with them that one time, I have no idea why they did not proceed with the next jump immediately, in order to put more distance between them and their pursuiers. Another thing that bothers me: Are the humaniform Cylons supposed to be biological creatures with some form of nanotech governing them? Human clones with just some sort of expanded computer functioning? Because that's the only way I can see them not being easily distinguishable from normal humans via X-ray or CAT scan (or equivalent).

Looks like the 33 minute question was answered already - dead on. The find in Water I think may or may not compress time as the big sticking point there was intended to be the conflict with Boomer. I was honestly so into keeping up with the episode at that point that it just blew past and I didn't notice it, so it's a good catch. I'll have to go back and watch again and see if I get the same feel from it that you got. I was probably most impressed with the concept that boomer as a cylon could be really conflicted and apparently unaware.. With the show being largely a drama, it gives the writers a lot of lattitude for developing new possibilities with the cylons that didn't exist in the old series.

That she would have such strongly divided loyalties between her conscious mind and her subconscious programming: that the Cylons made her TOO human, so far as it goes. In the previews for the rest of the series it shows her declaring the fact that she's aware of what she is: she must have been suspecting it from soon after waking up from her fugue, covered in water: particularly when the water tanks ruptured. It will be interesting to see if she can successfully throw her lot in with what her conscious mind feels herself to be, in contrast with her programming.

More good questions I think the concern over the Olympic carrier is an attempt to say that they aren't 100% sure that the action might have needed to be so drastic. From a civilian standpoint, that may be a legitimate question. From a military standpoint, I don't think there's any doubt but that something had to be done quickly. If there were other options, they weren't fast presenting themselves - nor would they have necessarily been successful. IMO, this seems like an effort to mollify the liberal element of the audience, though I could be wrong. It is largely a Pc consideration. On the other hand, it gives the writers an excuse to spend more time on who Roslin is. As for not putting more distance between them and the cylons, the Cylons had been using the Olympic to track the fleet. With the help of Olympic, they could get a fix but it took 33 minutes to get the signal out. Without that link to an exact jump coordinate, it leaves the Cylons having to comb space bit by bit to find them - which takes infinitely longer.. So, the fleet is safe once Olympic is gone. They have not fully explained the cylons at this point The question about them is actually part of the developing plot; but, your surmise would seem to be plausable.

Despite being a cylon, she is a sympathetic character and was setup that way from the outset. So the writers know what they're doing in developing her - at least up to now. You ain't seen nothin yet

It's just that once they passed the 33 minute mark in the jump where they lost the OC, with no Cylons attacking, I was wondering why they did not proceed with the next programmed jump, in order to make the search the Cylons were conducting that much harder: Even though they did not know at the time that the OC was the ship that the Cylons were tracking, they had a chance to get another jump between them and their pursuers, without the Cylons being able to determine their takeoff vector from direct observation. Of course, this presumes that the Cylons were not tracking some other sort of emission left behind, some signature of the FTL jump, and to that? "Insufficient Data"

"Insufficient Data" I think the whole point was to jump as far as necessary without expending more resources than they had to in order to get free and rest for at least a little while. The crew ran for five days straight without sleep; so, relief was as important as anything. And I think that was the main consideration. The jump distance isn't really what's important per se. It's a large enough distance that if they were sure they werent being tracked - it could be weeks or months before the cylons found them again. That's the beauty of the FTL.

Re: Why didn't they jump again after the Cylons failed to attack? I wondered that myself. Maybe they would rather KNOW when the attack was coming next, rather than deal with the uncertainty - and possibly not be ready to jump so quickly - of an unexpected attack. Good show, tho. Havoc - how ya gonna keep yourself from leaking your knowledge of future shows into some of your posts here?

Good show, tho. Havoc - how ya gonna keep yourself from leaking your knowledge of future shows into some of your posts here? Think I misunderstood you before on the jump thing.. I know there is a certain amount of time that it takes to prep for a jump. But I don't think that's it. It's kinda like running from the feds when they put a tracker on your car. You can run as far as you want and they'll still find you. I think the whole idea there was to run then check to see if the cylons lost the ability to track them or not.. Anyway, I think not blowin it by spilling the beans on other shows will be interesting. The urge to spill the beans can be pretty intense - especially with some of the more recent episodes I've seen. But, I think I can keep it under my hat till ya'll get the chance to react as I did LOL. I think the worst part is that I won't likely be sharing all my predictions with you because of the access I have. It kills me that I had a pretty good bead on a few things; but, can't really share them with anyone. By the time ya'll catch up to episode 10, that will no longer be a worry for me as I'm not watching further shows till 10 is released here. That way we're all on the same page again.
