Dude! Tigh is seriously losing it.
Why aren't you in the brig? Because no one put me there. Why aren't you in the brig? I'm on duty. ;D ;D ;D Funny!

Oooops. She screwed up in front of Mrs. Tigh. That's not good.
The President's guard is very religeous, isn't he? Wonder how that's gonna play into the situation. Make him even more of an ally for the Pres?
Things on the planet not going too well.
Two lines I just loved. "I just joined up to pay for dental school." "I don't believe I've lost my cool."

OK. So, Mrs. Tigh is a snake (no surprise there), the Pres is chanelling ancient prophets (nice touch with it being Pythia, just like ancient Greece), and EVERYONE is going a little nuts! Fragmentation, things falling apart, people falling apart and turning on each other - there's our theme. Hmmmmmm. If the cylon God hates Kobol so much . . . it must be important, eh?

For once, I'm with Gaius. I don't like the idea that murder is the one defining human characteristic. First, 'cuz that's icky. Second, not really true. Both because other animals do murder and because there's other things that define humanity.
Plus? Six as your conscience? I don't think so!
And it's official. Tigh has lost it entirely entirely.

Fragmentation, things falling apart, people falling apart and turning on each other - there's our theme. Hmmmmmm. If the cylon God hates Kobol so much . . . it must be important, eh? Oh, good point! Were you holding your breath like I was when Cheif stood up to fire at the Cylons? When Apollo said "You're welcome.", I felt he was talking to us - the viewers. No killing of Chief!! (How is he going to react when he finds out about Boomer?) No Starbuck/Helo. Ditto on Tigh having lost it. He admitted he screwed things up for Adama - and then he goes on to really frack things up by declaring marshall law. Is he intentionally/subconsciously fragging the commander's authority? Googling "fragging": Fragging. When one American killed another American, usually a superior officer or an NCO, the term "fragging" came into use. Although the term simply meant that a fragmentation grenade was used in the murder, it later became an all encompassing term for such an action. From wikipedia: A computer hard drive is said to be fragged (short for "fragmented") if a large portion of its files are not contiguous (those files are also fragmented). frag /frag/ n. & v. · n. 1 number of kills. 2 a fragmentation grenade. · v. 1 to eliminate other players in multiplayer shooters (fragging).I like the last definition - goes along with yours, Lola - "people falling apart and turning on each other". The players are getting shuffled. It'll be interesting to see how the game will change now. Especially when Gaius returns to Galactica. He's lied to Apollo and got the Chief to back him up - he proved himself in battle. Oh, and how about the way he handled that gun? Pretty well for someone who says he never shot one before. And now he's a *man* - because he committed murder? I was confused as to why 6 told him that she was proud of him, when previously she had said that 'murder' was one of the negative attributes of humans. I need to rewatch to see what I missed there. No Starbuck/Helo.

I liked some of this episode. The drinking always makes me uncomfortable. But if the ep had ended just a little bit sooner I'd have called it good. Trouble is that martial law declaration does not, to my mind, follow. I don't see why he did that. Everything else worked great, but not that bit.

Nice summary analysis, Havoc! I like how you point out that the key to the ep is the comparison, the similarities (and differences) between the situations on Kobol and Galactica. And, I would add, the way they link to the title of the ep. When comparing the two locations, we have very non-metaphorical fragging of LT on Kobol, and then the intriguing question of which of the many ways "fragged" could be applied to different aspects of the goings on on Galactica. But I also see an overall element that Karen points out - a general fragmentation that we will see play out over the next few episodes in the fleet. Until Adama and Roslin literally bring the pieces back together through the sheer force of both of their wills. Your examples of parallels between the two areas of action were great! Such as Six and Mrs Tigh being two sides of the same coin. (Which of course makes Tigh and Baltar mirrors of each other as well, and what interesting reflections!) In particular, I liked: I love the way things are not forgotten on this show. We have disintegration in this and the following ep, and we'll see the way things are brought back together. But we'll also see how the events we've seen during the chaos continue to linger. This past weeks episode is a fine example of events coming back to haunt - needing to be dealt with. As you say, we see the worst of Tigh here: confused, drunk (loved the "Tigh is lit" comment), led by his emotions (fear and anger and uncertainty) to hasty and unsound decisions. But we even got to see a different side to Tigh's most destructive behavior in this most recent ep. Adama is right when he reminds us that humanity is too depleted at this moment to throw any of its members away - no matter how flawed. What's important is to contain the risk as best you can. As you said, what's needed is the ability to "step back for a fresh breath now and again". The fleet is lucky that Adama and Roslin (and some others we've seen) seem able to do this - maybe not always in the heat of the moment, but eventually. I'm just worried that we keep seeing how the Cylons are even better at that kind of . . . . long view. Again, nice review! I'm working my way through them all, just saving my typing hands by going slow, but I'll get to all of them yet - don't you worry!
