Here's to knowing some one will always have your back. vs. Trust is an overrated commidity. You're on your own in this life, each and every one of us. Two different directions to go. Yet, I sometimes think true happiness comes from a mixture of those two beliefs. I definitely think that is a good possibility. I wonder. Does it have to bet? Could it just be . . . happenstance? **nods** Keep stepping on him and he just scuttles away.

My sound won't work at all live. I have to play it with a 7 second delay. Wacky. And how odd for you. Matthew, is this what happened to yours too? Must be some kind of techno evil that is happening today. My whole cable was out when I got home - apparantly a whole mess of cable boxes had their ID numbers wiped out of Comcast's system. According to the rep I talked to who reauthenticated me (after waiting on hold for 35 minutes) "this has never happened before, that I know of". And my DVR is still acting funky. But I still got internet, so I say, c'est la vie! Or something. No, my video and audio were synched fine: the closed captioning was about two seconds fast on everything, but that was it.

Yep, it's Baltar's fault. Wonder if he could make them BUY that he is a Cylon. Fracas amongst them. Basestar doesn't want to leave them behind. "the hybrid objects" "she doesnt' get a vote" I'd say that they are more like cyborgs, if Isis is a hybrid of human and cylon. Six knows he's lying.. And Admiral Adama makes a leeetle visit to his problem children. Whoa. Disarming them. Whyinhell are they traveling armed onboard the ship? An excellent question. One that I think Adama was wondering as well. **nods** Lord knows I struggle with that every month when I go to the salon. ;D They each take the route they've always used. Starbuck hides behind a mask of apparent "I don't care"ness and Tigh drinks and falls apart. Which I guess means that they really are still the same people they were . . .

When Starbuck and Tigh are toasting and saying "yeah, right" there is a seriously frakked up situation. Morale has taken a hell of a hit. "Holding court" Helo's the XO? "I don't think they care, sir" true enough. they are both so busy bleeding that they cant' see anything else. So these are the hybrids. Oracles of Pythia, with the blathering.. she's The Ship Who Sang. Ooh, ooh! I thought that too!!! I keep thinking that it's gonna turn out Baltar is their God . . . . I have no idea why I think that . . . . I am clearly insane. ;D Oh that's perfect! Yes! More Trek references! ;D I wonder when that Six was last downloaded - maybe before the whole planet thing? Maybe the last she knew was him on Galactica? Well, the grill-work certainly looked like it could use a good vacuming . . . Baltar keeps digging holes for himself but then climbing out. Wonder if he'll get out of this one? Aside from the McCaffrey thing, I was thinking of the way Roslin and Co. had mentioned that the "Scroll of Pythia" talked about the journey to Earth: and the Oracle of Pythia babbled strange things and occulted meanings. Legend does not record whether or not the oracles spoke in LogLan, though: "End of Line" hee!!! And I think Baltar is their god, too. In the traditional Greek God in hiding type way. Or, uh, something. EDIT: "Oracle of Delphi" though I'm sure that Pythia fits in there somewheres. Feel free to shoot holes in my dodgy memory of Greek myth and historical legend: I'll be researching, myself, and may shoot my own feet later.

Dissension among the ranks. Will Baltar be a unifying force? He's been working with Galactica the same time. So they think he's a traitor too. He can't win. WHOA!!!!! "The Hybrid" is that what they want from Hera? To replace her when sh'e grown? Or are they actually referring to Hera and she's in on these discussions? Huh - I hadn't thought of that . . . I think he was trying to give each of them the speech or motivation he thought they needed in particular. I know.

Hey, so maybe we are all Cylons? Technically, we're probably hybrids. Ah, very true. I always knew I was a mutt. ;D

This was a really good episode. A lot of housekeeping, but managed to maintain interest rather than becoming just an information dump. *Baltar speaking for the audience about a) whether the Six in his head is real or not and b) Why they're only seeing 7 models when they are supposed to be 12. Even though these issues weren't resolved they let us know that either, they read all the fandom discussion and they hear us, or they haven't forgotten that they raised these questions earlier. And also the "Am I a Cylon" question, though I don't know how many people were wondering that. I certainly wasn't. *A lot about the Cylons and how they live and how the skinjobs differ from humans. *Touching more on the order of things during the Second Exodus. Who is in what position, the overcrowding, social dynamics. *A refresher course on the Roadmap to Earth. **nods** It's like it's pointing us to the next story arc(s) while not neglecting the repercussions and fallout from the previous ones.

I love your magic jump rope theory, Lola! I wish I had me one of those. Are the ceilings in the gym on Galactica high enough to do jump rope? Heee! Well, that's the beauty of the magic jump rope. You don't actually have to jump . . .

i really liked this episode in general, and like Lola, i really enjoyed all these glimpses into the cylons' shipboard life in particular. EDIT: "Oracle of Delphi" though I'm sure that Pythia fits in there somewheres. Feel free to shoot holes in my dodgy memory of Greek myth and historical legend: I'll be researching, myself, and may shoot my own feet later. pythia WAS the oracle of delphi. pythia was the name for the priestess who operated as the oracle. she is believed to have spoken the same riddle-ish way the cylon ship did in this episode. it's believed that priests interpreted pythia's not-so-sensical ramblings for the masses - just like leoban did in this episode. and apollo was the god most worshipped at delphi, which i also doubt is coincidence. there's also a healing spring there that's been known since ancient times, but i imagine gaius trying to get the diseased six to drink was just a coincidence. ;D

Okay, I was thinking last night. The preview keep saying that the Cylons have a plan. What if the plan is to just...play at gods? Six said the Cylons don't talk about the other five we haven't seen - what if it's the other five who are actually orchestrating things and the seven we know of are playing unwittingly into their plans? The flavor of Greek mythology all over BSG makes me think of various things. The new Olympian gods overthrew the original creators, the Titans. And there were twelve of them. A Wikipedia article gives a rundown but here's an excerpt: In the wide variety of myths and legends that constitute ancient Greek mythology, the deities that were native to the Greek peoples are described as having essentially corporeal but ideal bodies.
Regardless of their underlying forms, the ancient Greek gods have many fantastic abilities: they can disguise themselves or make themselves invisible to humans, they can instantly transport themselves to any location, and are able to act through the words and deeds of humans, often without the knowledge of the human through whom the gods act. Most significantly, the gods are not affected by disease, can be wounded only under highly unusual circumstances, and are immortal. Even though each of the gods was born, most of them growing from infancy to adulthood, once they reach their physical peak of maturity they do not age beyond that point.
Each god descends from his or her own genealogy, pursues differing interests, has a certain area of expertise, and is governed by a unique personality; however, these descriptions arise from a multiplicity of archaic local variants, which do not always agree with one another. When these gods were called upon in poetry, prayer or cult, they are referred to by a combination of their name and epithets, that identify them by these distinctions from other manifestations of themselves. A Greek deity's epithet may reflect a particular aspect of that god's role, as Apollo Musagetes is "Apollo, [as] leader of the Muses." Alternatively the epithet may identify a particular and localized aspect of the god, sometimes thought to be already ancient during the classical epoch of Greece.
In such mythic narratives, we are told that the gods are all part of a huge family, spanning multiple generations. The oldest of the gods were responsible for the creation of the world, but younger gods usurped their power. In many familiar epic poems set in the "age of heroes," the twelve Olympians are said to have appeared in person. In order to help out the Greeks' primitive ancestors, the gods performed miracles, instructed them in various areas of practical knowledge, taught them proper methods of worship, rewarded good behavior and chastised immorality, and even had children with them.I don't mean that the in-charge Cylons are actually taking themselves seriously as the new Olympians - they're not human OR Greek. I just mean...what if theirs is a godlike game, whether they think of themselves as gods or not, of power and influence? What if the remaining five aren't theistic at all and have been using the seven to influence the goings-on with the humans...just to see what happens?

Speaking of Greek mythology.. On rewatching the the episode this morning, I noticed that during the scene when they gave Sharon a new call sign (she is no longer 'Boomer' meaning Boomer died), that the description given for Athena was 'goddess of wisdom and war' - usually accompanied by the goddess of victory'. I got curious as to why he just didn't use that goddess's name - and wondered what it was. From wikipedia: In Greek mythology, Nike (Greek Νίκη, pronounced /'nike/ "NEE-keh", meaning "Victory") , was a goddess who personified triumph.
She was a daughter of Pallas (Warrior) and Styx (Hatred), and the sister of Cratos (Strength), Bia (Force), and Zelus (Rivalry). Nike and her siblings were all attendants of Zeus.
According to myth, Styx brought them to Zeus when the god was assembling allies for the coming Titan War. Nike assumed the role of the god's personal charioteer, a role often portrayed in classical art. Her Roman counterpart is Victoria.
Nike was regarded as the bestower of victory, both in war and in contest. As a war goddess she was often represented standing alongside Zeus, Athena and Ares. Kara kind of fits the Nike description. If she does indeed change from her experience on the planet and metaphorically dies like Boomer did (kind of actually died, but metaphorically, too), I wonder if we'll see her nickname changed to Nike? And Adama is very Zeus-like and now considers Sharon/Athena more of a daughter than Kara. Hmm... Ok - so right after the scene where they renamed Sharon, we see Baltar asking Six who the final 5 Cylon models are - if he's seen them. She cut him short with 'I can't talk about that. It's complicated, but we don't talk about them - ever." Was that fear, anger, or what? I'm assuming the hybrid isn't a Cylon, and it fits with artemis's parallel to the Pythia in Greek mythology - the oracle that speaks in riddles. Sara had an interesting tidbit from Ron Moore about the different models of the Cylons that fits in with the different Greek mythology gods. I don't know about the original Galactica show's mythology, but are we seeing the Greek gods and how they might have come to be?

Okay, kind of vaguely formed from last night when I was just dozing off and typed this morning between cups of coffee...but it was fun to think about! Oh. My. God, Shan. ETA: BSG has eaten our brains! Interesting take on the final 5 Cylons. It's cool how many different theories would fit. From Six's reaction, the 5 seem to be either feared or unliked for some reason. Or maybe they were models who didn't turn out well. More humanlike than was desired? Or not tuned into their ecosystem as the rest of them are?
