Whoops. Obviously my information about the episode was totally wrong; the credited writer is Michael Taylor. You sure? I detect the light banter of Epsenson's style in every word and passage. And K.O. Word on the street is that *next* week is J.E.'s episode.

Awww wasn't that sweet? But, the new Kara is so hard. Yeah, you know, the old Kara was pretty hard, too. She's been messed up since well before New Caprica, IMO. She's got a lot of self-hate and fear of intimacy going on.

Okay. Kara has officially pissed me off with this. Poor Lee. No wonder there are unresolved issues there. My "Poor Lee" ended when he ran off and got married to a woman he doesn't really love (or isn't his primary love, either way) because Kara hurt him. They're both frakked up. Their spouses should divorce them and marry one another.

Part I 17 months ago. Right after settlement on New Caprica. Apollo's a bit stuffy/snobbish Dualla's transfer to Pegasus. Aw, Roslin and Adama. Clever about the reason for the boxing. Why is Starbuck the only one wearing bermuda shorts? And going barefoot.

Yeah. There's gonna be some domestic trouble. As I said weeks ago, though, I didn't expect that most of these New Caprica marriages would last.
Dave was all, "I don't know; maybe they got it all out."
Yeah, no. That seems unlikely. And even if they did...I wouldn't want to be married to either of them right now. And Kara...Kara needs a good shrink before she has any relationship. Otherwise she'll just keep building up wreckage on the highway.

Also EETAH about the anti-wreckage shrink-needing.

Wow! BSG usually doesn't make me cry. I don't know what it was (besides the obvious angst). Maybe just the way it was filmed, the boxing, the flashback, the bittersweet scenes between Roslin and Adama and Lee and Kara under the stars on New Caprica - the feeling of hope they had, for a minute it seems, and then the punch to the gut of the reality of life in space. Whatever it was, by time Kara and Lee stopped punching on each other and started to hold each other up, I was pretty spent.

Whatever it was, by time Kara and Lee stopped punching on each other and started to hold each other up, I was pretty spent. I accept that they have this kind of relationship but I'd really like some backstory on where it came from. There were some flashbacks in this ep of incidents between them we've seen in the series, but I'm not sure it's enough for me to establish this "thing" they have for each other. Makes me wonder what else has happened. Because, while I'm not criticizing it at all, the teenage "I heart Pookie!" post-coital hollering session on New Caprica just doesn't get me to that point with the KaraLee. There was always something there, from the second they set eyes on each other when Kara was in the brig for decking Tigh. Maybe its just an "is and always was" thing, or maybe it's just pheremones. But if it's something else, or a collection of more something elses, I REALLY want to see the story.

(copied over because I'm anal-retentive) Oh, yayness!! Thanks, Julia! Thanks from here, too! Wrong thread, but random brain-firing things I remembered from watching. It was nice to see Ellen again, and also good - in an emotionally bitch-slapping kind of way - to see Ellen and Saul together in another drunken schmoopfest. I briefly wondered in what kind of way (because you KNOW they did) Laura and Bill spent the night together but I immediately didn't really care what they did so much as it made me smile that they were just together. Drunk and/or stoned or not or whatever, they were comfortable enough - and trusted each other enough - to sleep together, if nothing else. I loved the hell out of that scene. They were just so... relaxed together. It was incredibly sweet to see. And I don't think it was all the New Caprica Weed. Re the red: Snerk! As for the rest of it... oh, lord, but what a mess it's going to be. Dee is a patient and wise woman, but I don't know that she's gonna be able to stay married to a man who is always hung up on someone else. She deserves better, as does Sam. Kara's got to learn to rely occasionally on someone other than herself. Hard to do, after spending three months in gaol with the only thing that she knew for certain was that she had been abandoned by everyone to Leoben's mindfracking regimen.

Amen. Although not each other, I don't think. IMO, Dee and Billy were perfect for each other. But the bastards killed Billy off before she could realize that. I don't really see any of the current characters as being suitable for her other than maybe Gaeta, but he's got that whole "was Baltar's right-hand man on New Caprica and almost secretly executed for it" baggage on him now. I'd like to see more of HIS post-NC fallout story myself, and soon. Sam? Hm. I think maybe Cat would suit him better. Except for the Galactica/New Caprica dissonance a lot of them have to work through. But I think they, of any of them, would be able to do it. Oh, lord, no, not Dee and Sam together. *shudders* The only thing that I find more disturbing than that is the idea of Sam and Kat together: what with Kat idolizing/competing with Kara, and trying to follow in her footsteps, it just feels... weird to me. Sam and his guerilla lieutenant from Old Caprica, maybe... Dunno. Dee? Gonna have to wait and see. But Felix does need someone to romance him, poor wrongly-accused woobie. Hm. I didn't think about that when I thought about Sam and Kat together. I just thought of how their individual personalities might spark together and mean something good and useful to each other. And since you mention Kat's Kara-worship, I'm not seeing it so much since Kara came back to Galactica. Kat seems to have found her own place and her own comfort level, which has been (so far) undisturbed by Kara's return. And I can't see Kat and Kara getting into it as they did before. They're both in different places now. Kat was a baby-Kara-wannabe before, wanting to prove herself by getting up in everybody's face, especially Kara's. Her time aboard Galactica - sans Kara - seems to have done that. IMO, Kat is kind of what Kara would have been like if she hadn't been so emotionally screwed up. Which is why I thought Kat and Sam would be good together.

You raise some very good points, on Kat and her development: I was thinking of the animosity between Kara and Kat in the Ready Room earlier in the episode where Papadama comes in and busts Tigh's and Kara's arses. Which, of course, is just part of the larger New Caprica/Shipboard life rift, too. I dunno. She's turned into a damned fine pilot, or so the last several episodes would have us believe, but the fact that she started out chasing Starbuck's legend just seems like it's gonna be a hard shadow for her to escape. I don't feel myself that I've seen enough of Kat post-NC to know her character. But hell, I don't think we've seen enough of ANYONE post-NC to know the whole vibe of the place, the mood of our regulars, let alone the culture of the Second Exodus as a whole. I'm looking forward to next week's episode. And I'm still bummed that they lost so much of their biodiversity and ability to shoot outdoor shots by nuking the Cloud Nine.

"that's one perspective" Dee sees more, and Dee is a patient and understanding woman, to acknowledge that Lee has had Kara under his skin since before he knew her. I'm still not completely understanding Dualla. Possible that she suspected Lee's interest in Kara before and while they were together and now she definitely knows something, but she's just going along with it? And I don't think its about status or anything. I'm not getting that vibe. She really cares about Lee enough to be second fiddle/sloppy seconds? I don't get that either. I've never really "gotten" what is going on in her head in the past and now? I mean it is so blazingly obvious what is going on with Lee and Kara and she what? Doesn't care? Doesn't mind? What?
