Adamas discussing Kendra.
From a tactical perspective its hard to find fault in what she did. Well, I'm guessing the most heinous things weren't written down in Cain's logs.
Adama had the benefit of good advisers. Well, he also refrained from shooting them. That's a plus.
You see yourself reflected in your children's eyes. Importance of families.
History will have to judge Cain and Kendra.
The knife. Passed on to Kara.
We've all got it coming.
Kara transfers back to Galactica.
Kara has a destiny.

Cain is so very General Woundwort.
Also, the talk of history and such made me think of the part of 1984 where Smith makes up a person and writes a glowing obituary about them. Now, Kendra and Cain, for that matter, were real people, well, in the context of a a fictional universe, but now that they're dead, they can be remembered any way the people in charge want. What Lee writes in his log of Kendra is more important to history than her actual character and actions while she was alive.

Cain made the conscious decision to operate the ship as a weapon of vengeance. So different to what Adama and Laura Roslin decided to do. Instead of fighting, they looked for survivors and ran. What made the difference? The fact that there were civilians and a civilization to consider? Although, I don't know as if a civilian presence would've made much difference to Cain. ETA: Scratch that. There were civilians, and they didn't make a difference. Yeah, no. That's one of the things that we already knew about her, from Season 2. She abandoned a civilian fleet to die after stripping it of everything worth taking, including people. The woman was crazy. IMO, she was beyond "officer school with no tempering and forced into an impossible situation" crazy. There was NO logic in many of her choices, and contrary to what much of the Web seems to think, she wasn't such a good leader. She led by fear. Hell, she shot her friend in the head over one refusal to obey an order. Thing is, I can almost cut her a break over using the ship for vengeance if she really thought all that was left of humanity was a couple thousand people. But once you've got civilians to look out for? Getting to safety and breeding quickly is the logical imperative.

Dammit. I think Kendra's going to end up staying behind to detonate the nuke. Yeah, the only real question for me was when they'd off her, not if. 'Cause we'd never seen her before, and it seemed likely that she was a one-story (or two, packed into one episode) character. Plus, we knew Starbuck had to make it back alive.

Creepy old guy in a vat of goo. Why should we believe anything he says? Damn it. Yes, see? This is what I was saying to Dave: he's the BAD GUY. Or near enough. Why should we believe him? Maybe his entire goal was to stop them following Kara because she really does have a lead on salvation and destiny?

Overall, I liked. The one thing I have issues with is Cain's character. I was really hoping for some backstory that could make me empathize with her, but really? She turns out to be bug-shagging crazy. Like she'd been waiting all those years for just such an opportunity to arise, so she could be a little tin god. Ick.

It was good to have some new BSG. I think the pacing could have been a little better, it seemed to drag at times, but overall the show was entertaining.
I don't watch a great deal of sci fi, but isn't it unusual to have the focus on so many female characters? The show revolved around Cain and Shaw, and also featured Kara and Six. That was refreshing!
I think the actress that played Kendra Shaw did an amazing job. Just looked her up on IMDB, and her name is Stephanie Chaves-Jacobsen. She hasn't had a lot of prior exposure, but I imagine that will change soon. Her gorgeous looks are courtesy of her mother being Portuguese and her father being Chinese-Norwegian-English. Her Australian accent is a result of her family moving down under when she was 12.
