Glad you are safe and sound! Personally, I think Joss spoke to the Powers That Be and let them know none of us could be die without having seen the Buffy Finale... Rae Hanson

Rae said: ' "Shall I use the thingy you showed me last night to get it to you?" *ahem* Sleepy mind, nasty thoughts. I had to reread to realize it was a perfectly innocent post .' Well truthfully...I'm almost never PERFECTLY innocent... and thank you thank you for taking 15! I'll start 21 tomorrow. I'm still waiting to hear from Vlad about that thingy before I send him 20.

You know, I said some really snide things about the old PTBs in my essay.Do you think they lurk on the Scubie site?

Plus they live for a loooong time. Of course, Slayers would probably have a heck of a long life. I was actually going to address this in Triangles, but heck, since I brought it up: how long could the natural life of a Slayer be? With their healing powers, one would think they'd be immune to mose human disease. Just a pondering thought as I take my leave.

//I think it's feasible at least. It fits into the things we've seen. Joyce's appearance in Conversations With Dead People was meant to be a pretty big deal. I don't think we've seen the true meaning of what she said.
Joyce said "Buffy won't choose you." She never said it would be a bad thing.//
While I'm pretty spoiled, I've not seen anything answering this question, re what Joyce meant, and I do agree with Rob that it's a pretty significant thing for them to ignore, so I want to believe we will get an answer. I just have no clue what it will be.
I am of the mind that the Joyce appirition was an evil manifistation, possibly TFE. My reasoning for this is that what Joyce said was so unsettling, and I don't think the real Joyce would tell Dawn something that could possibly cause a rift between her and Buffy, knowing that Dawn depended on Buffy. While the meaning could have been something good, as many of us have speculated here, it sounded bad, and that couldn't do Dawn a bit of good.
However, that doesn't mean it won't turn out to be true. Again, not seen a thing on this, so I'm speculating same as anyone else. But I do recall Anya making a big deal about how when she was evil she used to tell the truth all the time, sometimes it did more damage, and her saying that was roughly about the same time as Conversations With Dead People. On Angel, just as big of a deal was made about how Angelus likes to lie with the truth.
So I do believe the statement was true and will come to fruitition, I just find it hard to believe it was really Joyce who would say it, at least the way it was said.

//David - Your daughter looks like she smiles a lot - it's very becoming. I'm always attracted to people who smile and are basically happy. She's a lovely young lady with good taste in televisiion (you did say she watched Buffy with you...) //
She does watch Buffy, and she does smile a lot. The former she got from me, the latter she got from her mother. Her mother was the type of person who could light up a room just by being in it, and I am so grateful Megan inherited that from her mom -- it was one of her mother's most endearing features (may still be, but I haven't seen Jennifer's smile in a really long time).

Dave said: 'she's mostly a clone of her mother, which isn't a bad thing because her mother always was and still is a very beautiful woman. I'm on the inside -- she has inherited my wit and love for words.'
Then she has the best of both worlds.

Recent questions about levels of S'Cubiness has got me thinking. (This is always dangerous - do not let me try this at home.)
Based on Vlad's definitions of what makes makes a S'Cubie I have come up with a survey that perhaps should be administered with the S'Cubie profile. The following is meant in good faith and good humour, so if you have a problem with it tell me, but please forgive the poor formatting (I am a technological idiot).
PART 1: NECCESSARY S'CUBIE SKILLS (Give yourself the nominated marks for every appropriate answer in this part. Multiple answers are expected.) 1. Can you read: (a) posts, (1 mark) (b) hundreds, possibly thousands of posts (2 marks), (c) essays (3 points), (d) fanfiction (3 points), (e) episode analyses/reviews (3 points), (f) poems (3 points), (g) general back-ground) information (3 points).
2. For S'Cubie consumption, can you write: (a) short posts of more than 2 sentences, (2 mark) (b) long posts of more than 2 paragraphs(3 marks), (c) poems (4 points) (d) essays (4 points), (e) fanfiction (4 points), (f) episode analyses/reviews (4 points), (g) poems (4 points), (h) general back-ground) information (4 points) (i) archive previous discussions (5 points for every 500 posts).
3. Can you operate a computer well enough to: (a) turn it on, post and visit other sites (1 point), (b) format posts (1 point), (c) insert pictures and/or create links (1 point), (d) understand how the bloody thing works including all this internet bullshit (2 points), (e) answer technological questions (2 points, 10 points if you actually DO so), (f) do technological things (like Vlad) (2 points, 10 points if you actually DO them).
PART 2: NECCESSARY CHARACTER TRAITS (Please choose ONE answer that is most true for you.) 1. Spikecentricity. Do you: (a) acknowledge Spike's existence and keep hoping he will be staked (-50 points), (b) acknowledge Spike's right to exist, but obsess over one or more other Joss-verse characters (2 points), (c) obsess over Spike and other characters, (5 points)OR (d) obsess over Spike (10 points).
2. Can you play nicely (i.e. respectfully) with others: (a) Always (10 points), (b) Mostly (7 points), (c) Sometimes (0 points), OR (d) Never (-100 points).
3. Are you friendly? (a) Always (10 points), (b) Mostly (7 points), (c) Sometimes (0 points), OR (d) Never (-100 points).
4. How do you cope with being ignored? Do you: (a)Sing "The Worm Song"* to yourself and turn in your S'Cubie card (0 points), (b)Sing "The Worm Song" to yourself and redouble your posting output (1 point), (c) Sing "The Worm Song" to yourself and try to think of more provocative/interesting things to say (2 points), OR (d) Sing your own rendition of "The Worm Song" for the S'Cubies (3 points, because it is more reliable).
5. How do you cope with being criticised? Do you: (a) get shirty** and storm off into the sunset with or without first giving a piece of your mind (-10 points), (b) ignore it (1 point), (c) get shirty** and politely tell people your problem (2 points), (d) get shirty**, storm off and come back later (2 points), (e) try to improve (4 points), OR (f) Don't know: never wrong (-10 points).
PART 3: SCORING Less than zero: Non-S'Cubie. Please go away. Less than 30: Passive S'Cubie. 31-70: Active S'Cubie. 71 plus: Extraordinary S'Cubie.
__________________ *"The Worm Song", (as I know it). "Nobody likes me. Everybody hates me. I think I will eat some worms. Long ones, short ones. Fat ones, skinny ones. Ones that squiggle and squirm.
Bite their heads off. Suck their guts out. Throw their skinss away. Nobody knows how well I feed on worms 3 times a day."
** Shirty = "bad-tempered or annoyed".
