//Which I'll be keeping stoked with embers, so maybe we can talk Buffy while we burn? //
Sounds like a plan.
I remember a joke I once heard. There were these two friends who just knew one was going to go to Heaven and the other to Hell, and so they made a pact that after they died they'd meet up in the hereafter and compare notes on where they wound up. And sure enough, when they died, one went to Heaven and one went to Hell, and so they managed to hook up somewhere in the middle -- Purgatory, I guess, to compare notes.
"So how's life in Hell?"
"Oh, it's great! Satan throws the best parties. Last night, there was karaoke and Elvis did a really great duet with Janis Joplin, and they were backed up by Jerry Garcia, Keith Moon ... Andy Warhol was there and he painted everyone's portraits. And it's like that every single night. How about you? How is Heaven?"
"Oh man, God works me to death. I cook, I clean, I do God's laundry. Do you have any idea how many windows there are in his mansion? I do, because I washed them all last week. And I polished all the harps and halos ...."
"Good grief! It's supposed to be Heaven. How come God has you working so hard?"
"Oh, simple ... it's because I'm the only one up there."

I think it's feasible at least. It fits into the things we've seen. Joyce's appearance in Conversations With Dead People was meant to be a pretty big deal. I don't think we've seen the true meaning of what she said.
Joyce said "Buffy won't choose you." She never said it would be a bad thing.
I may not have it exactly right, but I think I'm pretty close.
By the way, I haven't a clue how the great majority of Scoobies are going to fare. I think everyone is going to get one big moment to shine, as a nod to the fans who have all seemed to identify with one character or another.
Buffy, of course, will get the last great moment. I wonder what the last line will be....

Rusty, sorry, should have realized you wouldn't get that joke. Back in part Nan tried to explain the Powers That Be to me and whether they cared about us (in the Jossverse) and then later There was some religious discussion (not related to the first, but pertinent) and it just seemed to me that you had a miraculous experience.
That was basically it. No need to go back.

It's amazing how long some seconds actually are. Honestly, I think I was channeling Evel Kinevel.
This may call for some heavy tippage to the PTBs. I'll have to think about the appropriate gesture for being spared death by giant runaway tire.

//while it's true, Dave, that the Italians in NY do find the good "Italian" restaurants, you'd be surprised at where you won't find really great Italian restaurants -- and that's in Little Italy in Manhattan. Most of what's down there is tourist-driven, serving lots of pasta drowning in tomato sauce and various "parmigiano" dishes (which are almost invariably smothered in mozzarella, not parmesano).//
I'm not surprised, Laura. I discovered during Mardi Gras that the worst place in New Orleans to go for jumbalaya, hurricanes or Dixieland jazz is Burbon Street. It's all clubs catering to the tourists. And that's the case with most of the French Quarter these days. The best clubs are on the outskirts of New Orleans, that's where the locals go.
As for pamigiano dishes, when I lived in Italy, I thought I'd try what was one of my favorite Italian dishes in America -- veal parmigian. In Naples, it's a slab of shoe-leather covered in marinara sauce, blech. But I did get very hooked on the tortellini, and have not been able to find anything that even comes close to good tortellini here.

David - Your daughter looks like she smiles a lot - it's very becoming. I'm always attracted to people who smile and are basically happy. She's a lovely young lady with good taste in televisiion (you did say she watched Buffy with you...)

//Oh...pretty Megan! She has your eyes, I think, Dave.//
Thanks for saying so, but in the looks department, she's mostly a clone of her mother, which isn't a bad thing because her mother always was and still is a very beautiful woman. I'm on the inside -- she has inherited my wit and love for words.

You asked about how the werewolves were with the eclipse. All I can report is that my dog didn't like it.

David said: 'we won't give you a hangover in the morning. Ok, Patti might, but the rest of us won't. ;-)
I love you too, Patti.'
ok...back at you...
...I give hangovers? Does that mean I'm an alcoholic beverage? I hope I'm a nice white zinfandel anyway... or champagne...I need more sleep...
