Any ep that starts with a slo-mo power walk? Is gonna be good.
Heh! "What, you'd rather me naked?" "God help me, the stories are true." ;D
Hmmmm. Yeah, that looks like someone wanting Torchwood's attention, all right. And the cops don't like them either. They "walk all over this town like you own it". So, they're tired of being pushed aside when TW deals with some wacky alien thingee.
Ooooooh, it's maybe the retcon drug? And Ianto knows exactly how many folks have been retconned off the top of his head. Clever lad.
Gwen brings up the glove, which is why the ep is named after Suzie and why we saw all the "previouslies" with her in it. They're gonna end up bringing her back again, aren't they? And therefore killing her again.
Interesting idea. That the glove wasn't lost but gotten rid of, deliberately.
Heh! The whole "cool name" conversation. Resurection glove is too basic, but risen mitten is cute!
Hmmmm. Jack and others haven't been able to do it. Gwen gives it a go and she can. So, she's more like Suzie maybe? Like Suzie how, though. "I'm just trying to help, sweetheart." Too attached, too involved, maybe. Like Suzie?
Heee! Ianto, give him a stopwatch and he's happy. It's the button on the top. Saucy!
Like a rope from my heart to the glove. Um. That doesn't sound like such a good idea, actually.
Jack tries subterfuge / lying to victim number 2 (he's "been hurt", they're "looking after" his wife). Makes me think of the different ways they tried earlier, in the first ep. Well, they got a few names, a place to start. And Suzie.
"We've been talking to the wrong corpse." Damn. They are gonna bring her back.
Interesting. A religious support/discussion group. Talking about meaning of life and so on. Well, that's sort of what you guys were investigating, what Suzie was interested in, with the glove and all. And the whole isolation thing comes up again, no one knew about Suzie, she kept herself to herself.
"When I die, you get to keep all my possessions?" Ah, another call back to earlier eps - Gwen trying to figure out what she's gotten herself into. "What if I left everything to Reese?" "Well, we'll stash him away too."
Hmmm. Suzie wiped her own records. So, it wasn't just them at fault for not knowing her. Well, it was there in the phrase "kept herself to herself". Good with computers and good at murder too. And there's the connection to Pilgrim.
Heh. More Gwen questioning. Do we all get frozen? And we get the rules and regs answer again, which means yes, yes you do all get frozen.
She needs to use her empathy (one of the things she brings to the team, yes?) - even though "she did try to kill me". Icky memories are bumping her out. Use the knife, maybe the knife and glove work together. "Alright, so we kill her again."
Heh! Ianto? Life knife. So flirty, those two.
A cut doesn't work, have to really "kill" her again, right thru the chest.
Very intersting convo with her. "Did you kill me?" "You killed yourself." And she remembers killing Jack.
"t's the glove, I told you! They get hooked." Wonder if this is literally true. Is Gwen hooked?
Ooooh! She didn't die! And she wonders too.
"You seem to be stuck."
"Am I going to stay like this? For how long?"
Asks about her dad. Hmmm. Several mentions, so that means dad will have a part to play in the ep.
"So, he doesn't even know I'm dead."
"Well, you're not anymore."
Suzie blaming herself (all my fault, isn't it) and TW (can't you just let me die? warned me it was a job you can't quit). And resenting Gwen.
Someone missing from photos and from victims. Worked at Wolf bar? Wolf again - ha!
Gwen's head is hurting, Suzie says it's from glove. So, the glove does do bad thing to you?
Oooh! Action!! Get the bad guy! Wrong bad guy! Suzie warns Gwen about real bad guy! Nab real bad guy! Jack makes lovely bad joke and dedicates it to Ianto! Yay!
Max has not so good reaction to word TW. Well, guess that's why he kept writing it in blood. (Heh! Jack can't resist playing wiht him.
)
What will they do about Suzie? Owen: You're the boss. Ah. So, she will end up having to be killed. And they'll have Jack do it. Because he's always the one in the end that has to do the dirty work.
Suzie wants to see her father, but won't help them find him. Doesn't trust them? And now she's bonding with Gwen? "Best job I ever had." Glove bringing them together? You always think when you die, they'll miss you at work, that you're indispensible. But now she thinks the others like Gwen better than they liked her. But you were the one who held back and Gwen puts herself out there more, so is the team completely at fault, for not pushing to know you? Or did you contribute too?
"I'm more than a replacement." "Have you slept with Owen? There you go, replace me completely." Ouch!!
Heh! Jack's babble about the former boyfriend who used to enter rooms like that "grand entrance" that got boring. But he put up with it because of the twin acrobat thing. ;D Plus, I love how he acknowleges that he tells stories to stall or to divert conversation, etc. "I can talk for a long time."
Gwen all mad at Jack now, but they're all responsible. "We're both responsible."
Oh! Suzie is draining the life out of Gwen. Still connected, thru the glove. So, glove is affecting both of them, they are bonded because of the glove.
"Suzie's gotta die." "Again?!" "Who's gonna do it." "Like you said, I'm the boss." Yup, I knew it.
Ooopsie. Gwen and Suzie gone and they're in lock down. Well, you guys did say that Suzie was always good with computers.
Aha! Suzie planned it all. Set Max up with a trigger. So, no matter when she died, he'd go off - they'd try to find him - they'd need Suzie to do that - they'd bring her back. But, how did she know they'd use the knife too, so that she'd stay resurrected?
Suzie and Gwen scenes intercut with them trying to get out of TW to find them.
First, Suzie asking Gwen about Jack and how he can be alive. "He says he can't die." "Do you wonder, who he is?" "All the time." They're all interested in Jack. Because he keeps them that way.
Then, Ianto comes to the rescue! Yay, Ianto! Heh, and all the cops gather around to laugh at them trapped in their own base. (Well, it is funny.
) Using poems to get out? No, using the books numbers to get out. Words locked them in, numbers unlock them.
Suzie and Gwen again. "When you're dead, what happens?" Gwen has the "faith that never left primary school" view of heaven. White light and gran waiting for you. But Suzie says there's "Nothing. Just nothing."
"But if there's nothing, what's the point of it all?" "Just this. . . . all the stupid tiny stuff." Well, she's crazy and all, and she's also got the wacky "something's out there in the dark, and it's moving" thing going. But I have always agreed with her about the basic "it's what's happening right here, it's life that's important, not anything else" thing.
At the hospital with her dad . . . and Gwen's not doing well. Oh! "You're getting shot in the head, slowly." So, she's actually trading death with Suzie.
Hello dad. Good bye. Ah. So, not a fond father-daughter moment, eh? "That's worth coming back for." Hmmmmm. What did he do to you, Suzie? That you hate him that much?
Running now, and they've switched places. Gwen in the wheelchair and slumped in the car.
Jack trying to talk her down? Somehow I don't think it's gonna work.
"Why should I stop now?" "For Gwen's sake." Carrot. "If she's dead, I'm going to kill you, Suzie Costello, for the last and final time." Stick.
But she'll "do anything to stay", even as she thinks Gwen is "so much better than me". Oh, Suzie. You are soooo messed up in the head. But then we knew that in the very first ep, didn't we.
Pulls Gwen out of car. "We'll keep on going, you and me." So, she's having trouble separating herself now? "I'm sorry. Have you gone? Safe journey."
Jack asking - "If I kill you, does she live?" And Suzie trying the "I'm all that's left of her, you can't kill me if I have even the smallest bit of her in me" line. Which I'm betting won't fly with Jack.
Yeah. "Not one bit." Bang! And then lots of bang bang bang. And she still won't die. "How much more of this do you want?" Hmmm. This must seem like an awfully familiar situation for Jack. Only it's been him on the other side. Suzie goes back to the route of blaming Jack - "you recruited me".
Ah, figure out that it's the glove keeping the connection between them. Destory it and then Suzie can be killed. Ooooh, and she does a final "something in the dark, Jack and it's coming for you" bit. Hmmmmm. And now that I've seen the final ep of Dr Who, I wonder if she meant that or if this is some other "something".
Jack and Ianto, cleaning up as usual. "One day we'll run out of space."
Oooooh, flirting that's actuall gonna lead somewhere, yays!!! Lots of things you can do with a stopwatch.
See you in 10, indeed.
Then, after all Suzies "quite a few deaths, in the end", in the end it's "death by Torchwood". And we have a final sobering "gloves come in pairs" moment.
My, that was a very dark and very lovely ep.
Plus, Jack/Ianto!!! Yays!!
