Huh. That was a strange little episode, and reminded me not a little of "Love and Monsters." With the same idea of the somewhat unreliable narrator...so, how much really happened, how much of it was true, and how much of it was in his imagination...
Can't say I didn't love the Bowie, though.

Hey! It reminded me of the same thing! For some reason, I found a resemblance between the two narrators, even though they aren't physically alike. I did find it interesting that Gwen could hear him. I don't suppose that means she's an empath or psychic, rather than just extra sensitive, does it?

Eugene Jones.
This is some one who knew Torchwood?
Eugene's a ghost.
Another take on the what happens after you die question?
Pictures of random shoes.
1992.
An eye from the sky.
And dad leaves.
If you leave something important behind, you go back and get it, don't you?
He becomes a Torchwood groupie. Or a Gwen groupie, rather.
He couldn't quite make contact, and now he really can't.
Tension between Owen and Gwen.
Did Gwen hear Eugene?
Eggs and ham with fries? Eh?
34 pounds!?
Eugene was waiting. That was his problem.
Selling life and still waiting.
Saleslady, the one person who noticed Eugene.
He wanted to sell the Eye. That's what killed him?
The eye allows you to see behind you, see where you've been.
Happiness.
Happy Cook.
34 pound. Exactly the amount of over due fees.
So that's where the pictures are from.
alien stuff, nazi memorabilia, and beeny babies. hee.
And he swallows it. Uh oh.
All the stuff that tells you you're alive. And then he dies. Parallel to Jack.
So he's a ghost because of the Eye, right?
Now Torchwood's got the Eye.
He saves Gwen. And she can see him. Everyone can see him. For the first time.

Always gotta love the Bowie. And eetah on the Love and Monsters comparison. Unreliable narrator and seeing the world of TW thru the eyes of an outsider, a sort of fan-like person. I think I liked this ep. It also really fits the running theme of isolation and no one to talk to, etc. Inability to touch another person, but he manages it when it matters - to push Gwen out of harm's way. Once the board is letting me sign in again, I'll come back and babble more.

Okay. When Eugene's dad starting singing "Danny Boy" I completely lost it... **nods** When the song is done by a parent (as it was meant/written, IIRC), it is always a punch to the gut kind of a moment.
