Huzzah! Caloo Calay! My mlb.com audiofeed works again! Yippee, haha, WHEE!!! I'm a happy camper. I'm still debating whether or not it's worth the subscription--mostly because I'm not sure how many Sox day games will be taking place Mon-Fri this season. Clemens got a HIT? Flippersmack.

Hmmm. Given your allegiance to the Cards, I confess I don't quite remember why you would hate my Mets since 1986. I mean, I could understand if Patti or Diane (do you guys like the Astros?) hated the Mets since '86, but I don't quite know why you would. Or do you have a more "personal" reason for hating the Mets? Well, it's complicated. First, that's the year I met Tony and realized that, if we were going to be together, I'd better learn to like baseball and that meant the Cardinals. Being me, I read a ton of baseball books and, thanks to Roger Angell and John Updike, learned to love the Red Sox as my American League team. Seeing the curse of the Bambino fall on Bill Buckner broke my heart and contributed to my disliking the Mets as the beneficiaries of the curse. The biggest reason, though, would have to be Keith Hernandez. It's only when he got to the Mets that he apologized for being a cokehead, rather than to St. Louis, the team that had really been affected. I know it's irrational to base my dislike on such small things but what can I say? There is plenty of stuff I do love about New York, just not its baseball teams.

That's okay -- it actually sounds like a pretty rational set of reasons as to why you hate the Mets.
Much more sensible than the sheer arrogance of so many Yankee fans I know. With them, the minute they find out that you're a Mets fan, they basically start calling you stupid and otherwise insulting you. Me, whenever I find out that somebody is a Yankees fan, I don't say anything.
Clemens got a HIT? There is no justice is this world.
Did I happen to mention just how much I HATE ROGER CLEMENS!!!

As for the Yankees, don't go to England. The only baseball team caps, shirts, whatever, that I saw over there were for the Yankees. What's up with that, Dev?

They know nothing, for the most part, about the game, except that the Yankees are supposed to be the best team in baseball. Grr, argh.

The only way it could be worse is if we were Colorado.

Yeah. But I didn't realize I had to worry about Jamie and Joel. Have only won the first game of the season twice in the past ten years, or something like that. But it really looks as if we need to change the rules and start the game in the third inning, again. Julia, got the early inning homerun blues

Julia, got the early inning homerun blues I know. . .I got used to it last couple of years. But, well - 8 runs is a lot. Really. Four back is a good start, though. Make that five, 'cause, Ka-Boone!

The TB vs. NY game was pretty boring, 3-2 in the end. Was a good last inning. Cubbies lost Tough luck really, they got 3 big home runs when they needed them. Three mistakes - three runs lost. Ahh well. One thing that boggles my mind about baseball is why on weekdays are there games in the day? Surely attendence isn't that high... people have work/college/school etc. I never understood that Dev

Playing hookie to see a baseball game is a grand old American tradition.
