Ah. Gas mask. The universal symbol for "creepy nuclear mutant". Okay, maybe not. But, still.... And I think I might have to rename Rose "Alice". Because she WILL follow things and wander off, won't she? *laughs and nods* The Doctor's companions wandering off seems to be a fundamental law of the universe. To be fair though, she believed she was helping a child in distress. In the old days, companions just wandered off, the DW version of "What was that sinister noise in the cellar? I must go and look. On my own. In my night clothes." ;D

Very resourceful child. The "Mummy? Are you my Mummy?'s are creeping me out big time. And Rose hanging from that balloon? Yikes! I hate heights. Gives me the willies. It's a double dose of the heebie jeebies tonight. Hanging from a barrage baloon, in the middle of the Blitz, dressed in a Union Jack t-shirt.... "There's a time and a place..." The hell? Heee!! "But you've got an excellent bottom, too" Would someone please tell me what a barrage balloon is? I see them in all the old movies too, but have no idea what their purpose was. Looks like they're supposed to point the Germans to the best targets, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the link, cal! I might have been able to guess at their use, but this gave me the details I had been wondering about.
