The time windows are neat. A whole spaceship built to stalk someone. Why? "France. A different planet." Hee! 'We did not have the parts." Oh. That's where the parts came from. Kind of cannibilism, in a way. **nods** Squicky, isn't it? I loved that so much I may embroider it on a pillow. ;D When they forced her down on her knees, and she has her hands clasped, with the blades at her throat? Very!! That's what I thought of too. **nods** **gets just a bit teary**

I like how, in another Stephen Moffat-penned episode, we get the return of the metaphor of "dancing." Interesting that in this one, the implication is that he actually danced. What do you make of that?

What do you make of that? After his 'snogging' comment, I figured he did actually 'dance', and it wasn't the fox trot either.

What do you make of that? I don't know. He first tells her he can't dance, but he did with Rose so did his regenerated brain forget how? I don't think so, but I do think he actually danced. Singing "I could have danced all night. . .." Very sad that he missed her by 6 years. 2 minutes became 6 years and she died. Poor lonely angel. What she saw in his mind was heartbreaking. I hate seeing my doctor as sad as that.

Now that I've read the thread I have to agree that I would have grabbed The Doctor and snogged him senseless first thing as well.

He could have, but I don't know that she would have risked her position as mistress to the King, despite how she felt about The Doctor. The times were tough for women in the 18th century and a woman without title or man was in very bad shape indeed. And, he talks about the French knowing how to party and inventing the banana daiquirie early. Of course, there's the line about always taking a banana to a party, to consider. Nevertheless, I get the impression that the two of them were with other people from that. So. . .. I think they danced but I don't know if they danced, though I'm probably in the minority here.

You know, I love the fact that it really is ambiguous. I've forgotten what that's like, you know? So many programs would just state explicity yes or no, or give the viewers enough clues to infer. I like a little mystery, you know? Did anyone else flash on the first episode of Angel, when the Doctor was pretending to be drunk to put off the clock aliens?

It's one of the things I love about Patrick O'Brien's books. He doesn't feel the need to spell out every single aspect of a conversation between characters and leaves just enough to the imagination of the reader. This does the same.

Well, that opening scene was downright creepifying, wasn't it? Jumped out of my skin, even though I KNEW something was under the bed. I hate that. "Just made it up. Don't want to say 'magic door'." "Little bit scared. Just a little bit. Because if this clock's broken....then what's that?"

"Little boy", is it? So he wasn't decanted the way Time Lords are said to be. He was actually a child once. "Mickey, what is pre-revolutionary France doing on a spaceship? Get some perspective!" And, hey, more dancing.

Well, that was unnecessarily sad. I mean, he couldn't have dragged her into the portal, too, and shown her a couple of stars before taking her back to die young? He KNEW the damned thing had a loose connection and he lost five or ten years every time he went through it. But that would have been insufficiently tragic. It's interesting - the entire episode was a condensed version of every relationship he's ever had with a human. You get attached, they get old in the blink of an eye, and then they die. *sigh* I hope Rose was paying attention.
