I *like* her I LIKE her a lot, myself, darnit, and I was all set and ready to hate her guts for not being Rose. BUT she's intelligent, quick, pretty, has a great smile, and is game for just about anything, and doesn't lose her head in a crisis. Darnit. I'm sorry, Rose. I guess I'm being untrue. Other things: the cops were really rather cool: like Vogons except less disgusting, less buearocratic, and much more polite. (they gave her COMPENSATION for falsely accusing her of being their target? WOW.) And with a family like that? I might leave for a bit, too. Whoosh! Only she is more being tempted with a "first one's free!" offer rather than being all gung-ho about it, like Rose was. My first thought, too, was "Nobody open any windows!!!!" followed immediately by "well, that's just stupid, Matthew" I also liked the way the ceiling tiles were all hashed from the sustained shaking. Little things.

What a fun episode! I was sure that the creepy, salt-loving doctor (heh - Mr. Stoker) was the alien. I'm such a good mark. Of course, it would be the sick and sweet, elderly woman. I should have known! I like Martha, too. She seems to be the most sane and reasonable one of her family. Loved that opening cell-phone sequence and her bumping into first the doctor and then a slab, was it? Neat twist at the end with the tie - to tie in that little event. Martha is ready to believe in aliens because of recent things that have happened. She lost someone because of them. That tends to make believers out of people. The Jidu were creepy, but surprisingly reasonable, but their justice is a bit too swift. The med student who stood up to them was very brave. I got a giggle out of how the humans were cataloged and marked with a marker. So, if Miss. Finnagin is a plasmavor and she (and her sonic straw) has been destroyed, but she was saying that there are 'great tests to come, and terrible deeds' - some of them she 'owns', then does that mean she won't be there to do these deeds, or did she somehow survive? She did absorb essence of Doctor. Doctor quotes I loved: "Jidu platoon, walking on the moon." "Barefoot on the moon." (I'll miss the red tennis shoes.) That comment about spending the last 50 years on Earth as a postman - hence the bunyon. Martha quote: "I mean we could die any minute, but all the same - it's beautiful." "Laughing on purpose - at the darkness." - Florence quote about The Doctor. About killing the princess - "Well, she deserved it. Those pink cheeks and those blonde curls and that simpering voice.....she was begging for the bite of a plasmavor." Of course - my brain went to Buffy. Excellent ep! I couldn't figure out what the new 'Bad Wolf' was, tho. I guess I'll just to watch again.

Little things. in my head not liking her for not being Rose makes about as much sense as not liking her for not being Sarah Jane et al. ... except I disliked Rose for not being Ace, but that's different... consistency: not my strong point. actually what I didn't like was starting with an Ace-type relationship without the building thereof. Whatever happens with Martha they're starting with lots of building, so that works much better. also, she knows stuff, and when she doesn't know she finds out. if she didn't know how to make the TARDIS go I bet she'd find the manual.

"Jidu platoon, walking on the moon." Excellent ep! I couldn't figure out what the new 'Bad Wolf' was, tho. I guess I'll just to watch again. Jidoon, on subtitles. Or possibly Jedoon or something, I forget. Anyway, another oon. which makes it funnier. new Bad Wolf was a couple of words also mentioned in the thing with the bride. I think.

Martha
Phone tag
OK, then.
Alien Biker Dudes? with Alien Biker Dude music?
Electric shock?
So she's a med student.
"Mr. Smith"
Is there something really wrong with The Doctor? No, he's just playing. Right?
Shock again. Shocks all over.
Is the Doctor checking her out?
Rain is going up?
They're on the moon? WTF?
Looks like pictures of Ground Zero.
TARDIS.
Continuity. But hasn't wackiness been going on for like 40 years? Why are people only remembering recently?
As far as I'm concerned, you've got to earn that title.
Force field.
Lots of "look at our special effects" shots.
Retire to Florida from the UK? Is that popular? Wouldn't there be some place closer that you'd want to retire to?
She's running the show.
With a straw?
Rhinoseri?
Marking their hands like at a party. Hee.
The moon is neutral territory.
Operator's Manual. Snerk.
X-Rays. Huh.
The Doctor's impervious to radiation.
No more sonic screwdriver?
So she's not running things. She's the fugitive.
About whether The Doctor has back up.
Running on adrenaline. -Welcome to my world.
Kisses her. Just like that? Eh?
Babbling. Hee.
50000 T? Holy Cow.
I think it's time you found some peace.
Compensation. Hee.
Okay, this is really bizarre.
Crime is murdering the child princess. Well she deserved it! Hee.
They have sonic screwdrivers too?
Just unplugging it did it. That was easy.
It's raining on the moon.
And it's back.
This guy's still at it. Hee. I keep expecting that he's going to have some significance.
And she can't go back to her old life now.
This chick is a Jackie Doppleganger.
Ah, that's how it happened. Clever.
Strictly forbidden, except for cheap tricks. Hee.
Mention of Rose.
Just one trip. Yeah, right.
That was a genetic tranfer. Yeah, right.
I only go for humans. Yeah, right.

I like Martha, 'cause she's an AlmostDoctor. I'm that shallow.
Actually, I really do like her for her scientific analytical reasoning. That's not so shallow.
So, the Doctor can just look at people, and just... know?

I *like* her I like her a lot! A very lot! Smart (figuring out the way the air wasn't being lost out of the building) and strong (being all "I won't call you doctor, you've got to earn that" and keeping up with his running around and plans and stuff) and brave (facing up to the alien police and walking right out onto the balcony) and caring (trying to reassure him, when she thought that he was just a patient, that everything was going to be OK; calming and helping patients). And, damn, she's good looking!! Whoa, momma!

And after they decided that the hospital wasn't guilty in hiding her, (heck, they helped find her!) they even brought everyone back. Space rhinos on the moon! **nods**

What a fun episode! I was sure that the creepy, salt-loving doctor (heh - Mr. Stoker) was the alien. I'm such a good mark. Of course, it would be the sick and sweet, elderly woman. I should have known! Heh! Yes, after ASH the sinister headmaster, I was expecting the head doc was gonna be like that too. But instead we get the really amusing, if icky, "survivor at any cost" straw-sucking little old lady. ;D "She was begging for the bit of a plasmavore!" That was a very neat bit of continuity, a nice reminder of what Earth folks have seen lately. Oooh, intriuging! I hadn't really thought about implications for what she said . . . . Loved that postman bit! He was so cute, pretending to be human. Oh, yes that was good! Shows that . . . . spark . . . that a companion needs. That wonder and interest in all that exists out there in time and space. I didn't catch anything either. And thanks, once again, for helping me see the ep.

Judoon Plasmavore and why didn't he regenerate? Maybe 'cuz not completely dead/destroyed-dead? Therefore able to be brought back by ordinary CPR stuff, but didn't need the whole regeneration thing? ;D

So, the Doctor can just look at people, and just... know? I think he can get a . . . vibe, right off. And also, then he saw her in action and she's got all the right stuff for companioning, doesn't she? Not shallow at all.
