Ahem. Not that I'm anyone to talk. **hides ticket stub from first fan-geek convention I ever attended, at age 20-something, which was a Dr Who event because the actress who played Leela was appearing** ;D Louise Jameson? Not that I'm a fanboy at all. I mean, I have a sonic screwdriver, but Erin bought me it. It just sits in a drawer. I never play with it while I'm watching DW. This never, ever happens. Well, geez. I would have thought you'd want to be all sonic-ed up for a new episode. Also:

It's hard to see how he can ever die. RTD would never do it, and in every other drama he writes he takes out characters as merrily as Joss. You've probably notived that even in DW he deals with the theme of mortality. The Doctor is the property of too many people, now. He surely does belong to too many. So was Buffy and Joss killed her. Brought her back, though. At a steep price, but still. . .. That is sort of touched on with The Doctor, courtesy of his ability to regenerate, but. . .. There is an interesting, perhaps unique, situation with DW. During the show's original run, a fanbase developed, and these people created an entire mythology that built on what was seen on television. Then, during the so-called wilderness years when the show was off the air, the fans simply took over. The most talented fans created novels and audio plays with the original actors that are remarkable. Among these people are Russell T Davies, Stephen Moffat, Paul Cornell, Mark Gatiss, and a host of others working on the current DWThe call it fanon, when spin-offs and fan dogma begin to bleed into canon until the two are hard to pull apart. Interesting.

Interestingly, it was special effect that destoryed the original globe. In 1613, a squib used during a performance of Henry VIII set the roof on fire and the place burned down. That's the story, anyway. Henry VIII is so bad that the audience probably burnt it down. It was rebuilt in 1997, and I'm popping along there next month. My summer plan includes see Shakespeare play at Globe. Haven't yet decided which or when. Been working on the 'acquire employee to take me there' part.
