Doctor took her home. "This is it?"
Awwww.
Hmmmm. Something tells me that her sis and the experiment guy are going to be interesting to the Doctor.
Yep. "Did he say he was going to change what it means to be human?" ;D
Hmmmm. Old scientist guy is hitting on Martha's sis.
Heh! "He's my plus one." And "science geek, what does that mean?" ;D
Ooooh. Her mom does not like the Doctor. Or is it she just doesn't want to see her daughter getting involved with someone?
Spinning glowy machine, almost goes boom except the Doctor saves it. "I'm 76 years old and I am reborn!" Drama queen, much?
Doctor thinks scientist guy is out of his depth. I'm betting he's right.
Lazarus guy, reminiscing with his partner, talking about WWII. They have a shared history, then. "An empire we can rule together." "Look at yourself, woman."
What a dick. Of course, he was a dick before he became all young and reborn and all. Was already only looking at the young women.
He's "hacked into his own genes" only he keeps on changing, mutating. Well, that can't be good.
"Do you think I'd waste another lifetime on you?" Yep. Definitely a dick.
(Side thought, is this guy's research the start of what we'll see eventually as the skin-woman, living forever but nothing really left as human?)
A cramp? Yeah . . . . I'm thinking it's a bit more than a cramp. Eeeep! Well. Um. Yes, that would be that mutation stuff the Doctor was talking about earlier.
Martha's mom is all "there's something going on" (duh!) and not wanting Martha to "lose focus". Thinking she won't finish becoming a doctor if she gets involved with a guy? Did something like that happen to her and is that why she is so . . . adamant?
Ewwww. Sucked out the woman's energy, like juice from an orange.
Hey, now. Who is this Mr. Mysterioso guy, talking with Martha's mom about the Doctor and being all "perhaps she should choose her friends more carefully"?
Oh, excellent. Go and flirt with the mutant on a roof. Like
that never goes horribly wrong.
So, in this ep, we're going to get insight into what the Doctor thinks about living as long as he has. "It's not the time that matters, it's the person". Good point.
"Tish, he's a monster." And she really means that literally.
Run run run run!!!! (Damn, it must be hard to run down stairs when you've got heels on.)
"The biggest danger is choking on an olive."
Ya know, if I were at some science event thingee where a machine had almost blown up already and we saw some very bizarre happenings and then someone yelled that there was a horrible danger and we should all run? I don't think I'd sass him back. I might not run immediately, but I'd at least be looking around for a way out and backing off.
Doctor does the patented "taunt the monster and lure it away" plan. Will this make Martha's mom like him better, seeing as how he kind of saved her and her son?
Run run run run!!!!!!
Oh, blah blah monster. Eating people is a "necessary sacrifice" and this is really a great moment in science etc. etc. Yeah, you sure look like a step forward for humans.
Martha's getting really good with the sonic screwdriver.
Eeeeep! Head suddenly above the Doctor! He's like the scary spider monster from BtVS season 7.
Martha does the classic companion thing, goes back to help the Doctor instead of running away to safety.
"Have you looked in a mirror lately? Why would I want to face that?" ;D ;D Setting up the lab to go boom and it does.
"What are you doing here?" "Returning this." ;D Heee! She heard the explosions and figured it was him.
Hmmmm. And now Mr. Mysterioso is back, whispering into Martha's mom's ear about the Doctor?
Um. Is getting into the scary mutating machine the best of all ideas? Heh. The plan was to get inside here. And then? Then come up with another plan.
;D
So, this mutation is path that humans could have gone down, but didn't? A potential that this guy just unleashed. Well, that's unpleasant to think about.
Heh! "Reverse polarity". That's always the answer, isn't it?
Slap! Looks like saving her didn't exactly make her like the Doctor, did it?
Ah. Lazarus. Yes, we should all have been expecting that one. Not dead. Seeking sanctuary in a church? If they end up having him mutate a hunchback and swinging around on a bell rope with his lady love . . .
Hmmm, interesting. Reminiscing about the blitz with the Doctor this time, like he did with the woman he first drained. "You're too young" to remember it. "So are you".
Interesting contrasting opinions. Facing death is part of being human. No, avoiding death, fighting and doing anything to try and stay alive are what is human. But, aren't both of those true?
Oh, don't tell me he's gonna end up in the bell tower? ;D Hunchback, just like I thought.
More of our look into how the Doctor feels about living so long. Tired of the struggle, of losing everyone, watching everything turn to dust. Well, yes, that's how you're feeling from your perspective, Doctor. But is that the only possible perspective?
Ah. Now Martha does what the Doctor did earlier. Tempts the mutant to come after her, to implement the Doctor's plan. Sonic screwdriver to amp up the sound waves, yes? And then he falls and Martha doesn't and everyone is yay!
But still, not the best plan you've ever had, Doctor. I mean, yes it worked, but just barely.
Oooh, go Martha! Telling him she won't be just a passenger, no more "one more ride" mentality. Either she's a companion or not, you've got to decide, Doctor! And he says OK. ;D Plus, he admits she's always been more companion than one-time passenger.
Ah, mom calling to warn her. Who is "Harold Saxon"?
