Bendy1 on LJ has capped all the really important scenes (i.e. those that feature James Marsters) from the movie. Majorly spoilerific, obviously. Many of us might not ever get a chance to see the movie, so it was very nice of her to do this. The screen caps are broken up into six, non-dialup friendly parts. There are also two earlier posts that go into detail about the plot of the movie, so again, major spoilers will be found. Please do read the comments to the caps; they are quite entertaining! bendy1.livejournal.com/tag/shadow+puppets

OK, I'm finally watching it, and it mostly seems really slow to me. Lots and lots of moments that are supposed to be scary, like the characters are scared and I guess we're supposed to identify with them, except I don't cause I'm not scared. Then again, I'm not one to gauge scariness; so maybe it really is effective. I'm curious to hear what other people think, whether it works for them.
James is decent; I don't think the script is challenging enough for him to really shine.
Tony Todd's character makes me think of Wolverine.
Premise as a whole seems like 10 Little Indians and that amnesia episode of ST:TNG.
ETA: And the whole mind-wiping scenario that's a common sci-fi story archetype. Memory-Identity quandry. Was also in an episode of House.

OK, James gets a real good scene towards the end sort of, around the 1:20 mark.

Hmm... the chase through the woods is well done.

Watching the movie with the commentary is interesting. The writer/director really put a lot of thought into everything (well, I guess most writers and directors are like that, but this guy talks a lot about why he did things the way he did) and he seems really nice. He had a lot of praise for James and the other actors. The guy with the glasses is his brother, BTW.
I guess this is mostly a mood piece. And it does have some good isolation and confinement stuff. Too much for me about the shadow monster, and I'm still not sure exactly where it came from. I'm not sure whether it's worth buying or not. Hmm.
