The beginning of the end- ominous.
Ah "making that call is the beginning of the end" So that's what that refers to.
Teaser
The pile of papayas. From the poker game?
No, from a high speed chase. Very movie like.
This is our new character? No, this is Jack.
Who got involved in a car crash? Was it Locke's dad?
Hurley!? HUH?
One of the Oceanic Six. Huh?
I'm so fucking confused.

Part I
Hey, It's that Guy. Was he on the show before, or am I just thinking he's familiar because he's in another show.
Ah, this guy was Ana-Lucia's partner.
The interrogation room starts flooding? Huh?
Back on the island.
But I thought Rose didn't plan on leaving.
Ben, you might be more convincing if you explain WHY, instead of just insisting on people doing what you want.
Ah, Hurley would forfeit the lottery money because they think he's dead. And that frees him.
Aw, Hurley looks so happy.
And he sees Desmond drag the boat back.
Desmond delivers Charlie's message. And the group discovers that Charlie is dead.
George Minkowski.
Jack doesn't tell the boat that Naomi's dead.
But that's OK, because Naomi's body is missing. Is she going to be like Mikail and die a thousand deaths?

Part II
What to do about the people on the boat. A new set of Others.
Sawyer throws the talkie in the ocean. Well, that settles that.
Jack acting all leaderly.
two sets of trails. So some one dragged her away.
I think it would be better for Kate to track Naomi and Jack to lead everyone back to the beach.
And where is Locke in all this?
In the mental institution.
Is this a linear flashback?
This is the robe that Hurley was wearing in Charlie's biblical vision.
OK, this is linear. I think.
Oceanic is offering to place Hurley in a higher class institution.
Don't want to see the ocean. Yeah, I guess he wouldn't.
But this guy's not really from Oceanic. So who is he?
Whispers. And Jacob's cabin.
So Jacob's cabin is that close to the beach?

Part III
OK, Jack brought Rousseau with her.
Love Ben snarking.
Naomi took the phone?
No, Kate took the phone. And is tracking, because she's better at it. Yep.
Another contact with the boat.
Oh, Naomi just pissed that Locke stabbed her. And she genuinely seems to want to help rescue the Losties.
And she lies about her injury.
And she has a sister. Is her sister Penelope? Like a half sister maybe? Cause she really could be out trying to help Penny, unbeknownst to her, while everyone else on the boat has an ulterior motive, like Ben seems to think.
Is that a picture of a dog dressed in clothes sitting in a rocking chair?
Whoa! Jacob.
Is Hurley going to fall into the mass grave?
Ah, there's where Locke went. WTF, Locke?

Part IV
What is Locke's game?
Wait, how does Locke know about the message?
The fuselage. I thought the whole thing got covered be water.
Yeah, you've burned too many bridges to be taken seriously, Locke. You might have thought about that before blowing things up or stabbing people.
Voices again. But they're the voices of the Losties.
Claire and Hurley crying over Charlie's death.
And eskimo. Reference to the eskimo joke?
Charlie!!??
Ah, that's why Hurley freaked out. He saw Charlie's ghost.
Ben, Rousseau, and Jack return.
And Jack gives Locke the smackdown he so rightly deserves.

Coda
Locke uses the "for your own good" argument. die Die DIE!!!!
[Is Locke] insane? Yes.
Well, technically, he didn't kill her yet. Hee. And yeah, not really.
Stay or go? stay or go?
Jack loses against Hurley and Locke.
Sawyer's gonna survive.
And thus begins the rainy season?
Jack visits Hurley.
About their fame.
Jack's thinking about growing a beard. DON'T DO IT, JACK!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack was right to stay at the beach then.
Another helicopter. Another parachutist.
Jeremy Davies.

Woohoo What a mess! Cheers!! *does happy dance of being befuddled* ;D I know! The crack, it is back! Only thing that could have been more wacked-out delightful would have been if one of the polar bears just wandered by, randomly. That would be AWESOME. What polar bear?

Seriously, he should just fess up, because the "for your own good" argument makes me want to eviscerate him. He at least better have a good reason for not sharing. Grr.

It really does. Now, what in the hell is that all about? Fuck if I know. However, I learned something interesting that might shed some light on this. During the hiatus they released something they called "mobisodes" of Lost that featured snippets of things that happened behind the scenes: the moment when Juliet tells Jack why she's really there, for example. The final one was entirely from Vincent's perspective. You see him nosing around, and then hear someone whistling and calling to him. When Vincent gets to the person, we see it's none other than Christian. Christian calls Vincent closer, pets him, and "I need you to go find my son. He’s over there in that bamboo forest, unconscious. I need you to go wake him up. Ok. Go on." As the dog trots off, Christian adds, "He has work to do." Then we get a replay of the first episode's beginning: Jack's eye opens, he wakes up, sees Vincent, they look at each other for a moment, then Jack gets up and Vincent runs off. Yes, you read that right—Christian actually touches Vincent: <snip> Whoa. I watched the webisodes, but I missed the last one. I guess that's the closest I'm going to get to a Vincent-centric episode.

This felt mostly like a transitional episode to me. Shifting our players into different places and different groupings, getting the representative of the boat people onto the island, fleshing out things we already knew.
