First off? I really liked the continuing exploration of what it means that all these slayers were activated. And, the continuity with consequences from what Buffy did - her "little Thomas Crown affair". Giant Dawn at the slayer party was excellent and I always love Xander's quips ("back in the day", "which day was that", "I think it was a Thursday, you wore blue" hee!) and his caring (his idea for the party "they needed it"). But I particularly loved the final half, with the continuity and clarification that yes, it was indeed Satsu who kissed Buffy. With the caring conversation during patrol fighting (a classic BtVS scene) and then the new big bad arrives! Action, and character revelations, and plot developments and new mystery! Cool! Does the big bad know Buffy from before, who is he? Why does he have a scratchy neck? Buffy feeling like she can't make a connection with someone? Not so cool! And finally? Xander needs a man. Oh, yes, yes he does. And I have a few suggestions.

Am I the only one who is distracted by the poor artwork? The character's proportions make them look like caracatures, serious scenes are undermined by the cartoonish quality of the drawing. Compared to the artwork in the older books, this is pretty amateurish and not at all worthy of the excellent writing and plotting. Diane *fearfully anticipating angry responses

I'm not familiar with the genre anymore, and I figured it was just standard comicbook art style, though.

Or check all the stories that were published in the old Buffy series, now being reprinted in the Omnibus. The work is far, far superior. I'm not sure, but I think the bad artwork started in the "No Future For You" mini-arc. All of a sudden all the characters had heads twice normal size and cartoony faces.

Yes, I see what you mean.

Actually, I am enjoying the artwork.
*shrugs* To each their own.
I am finding it far better, IMO than the Angel: After the Fall (Season 6) comics have been. Those have been somewhat of a let-down after reading these, both in terms of story, writing and art.
