"Do you think I know what I'm doing?" Politically or in a game of Backgammon? Ah. Politically. And Sawyer is not a sheep. He's a wolf. Sheez. He's gonna rat her out? And like Locke has a word that's worth anything? Working an angle. Bringing Miles down to Benry, instead of t'other way around. I'm currently of the opinion that Sawyer was helping Kate and this was the way they planned to do it while preserving his rep with Locke. It would totally be the con artist way to do it. Yep! I'm thinking that was a mistake on Kate's part.

So Kate's being bluntly honest to Locke. Ah. The dictator kicks her off the island.
And Back to the future.
Momma. Isn't this sort of inapropriate to put the witness for the prosecution in with the accused, especially when it's a parent and child?
Yep. So she's dropping out of the trial?
Grandson. Sonny boy again. Who's wathching him? Who is he? This lends credence to Sara's theory that Grandson is Aaron... but they weren't gone for a full gestation period.
"He banished you? Well, I unbanish you"
Aw. Sawyer being sweet.
Two out of Three cards. Good enough for three-card monty, no?
Don't trust the emergency number thingie. I am more freaked now.
AA!!!!! Missing helicopter in a time-warp! Or, you know, in the ocean. Save that Sayid is definitely one of the ones who escapes....

Oh, Locke. You're such a polite and soft spoken psycho. Oh, and he wants Kate out of his clubhouse. Go away, Kate! Bad dog! Flash forward. Is it true? Well, not what Jack said. But she is a hero. Don't want to testify against her . . . is this maybe why Kate is not put in prison? Make a deal, see the grandson, no testimony to put you away. It's always about making a deal. Half nekkid Sawyer!!! Half nekkid Sawyer!!!!! And it was a con - HA!! I un-banish you. I'll keep you safe. Noooooo! Don't take away my half-nekkid Sawyer!! **pouts** OK, beach people, blah blah blah. Get back to the flesh! Their mental powers are getting better, which they were expecting (ha!), and the boat people are suspiciously quiet. Aaaaaand the helicopter is missing. Are we surprised? Ooooh, maybe they crashed again! 'Cuz it would be really cool to re-visit the giant four toed foot part of the island. I'm betting Sayid would really like a chance to explore that more.

Maybe they did a "she's dying, they may never see each other again" pity ploy. Because, yeah, it don't seem real kosher to me. Oh, like Kate took him off the island and Claire stayed behind? Very sweet! And hot! Very hot! He's sweet and hot! Sweet hot! He's like mustard. Could be it take a realllllllly long time to get thru the time bubble and reach the ship. Or maybe they crashed. Or maybe they're headed toward and AU ship. Or maybe . . .

Security on Miles has been increased. To the "lose a hand" variety. Locke needs killing.
Oh, holy living frack. So Locke's now the caretaker of the island?
JESUS! What's he gonna do to Kate and Sawyer?
Way too cheerful about the not being pregnant.
"Find some reason to get pissed at jack and bounce right back to me" *slap*
Well, he's not all that wrong, from what I've seen before.
Momma dead? No, Momma's got cold feet.
So only five other survivors. But ten years probation means that she can't go on the wanderjahr with Jack to look for the island.
"Have a child, not going anywhere" yeah, that strongly suggests Aaron....
Jack again. "Heard you say that story so many times, starting to think you believe it"
"I didn't mean it" I hope he's talking about the "not love" thing.
See the baby?! Hers? Theirs? Sawyer's? *head explodes*
And do we see baby?
Yep. Aaron. So. Claire's dead. Whups?

I don't know what you think you're doing here. Um. I think he's torturing you.
Damn.
Oh, I didn't introduce myself earlier. I'm a psycho. Here, eat this grenade.
Yay!!! NekkidSawyer!!! You can hold my wrists down anytime, bay-bee!!
Not pregnant. I'm thinking she's not happy about your wooo and hooo. In about a week you'll find some reason to get pissed at Jack and bounce right back. Ooooooh, did he hit a nerve there, Kate? Hmmmmm?
Unable to testify due to medical reasons. Well, that is how she's gonna not be found guilty. And there she goes. Give me a paper to sign and let me go out the back door.
Starting to think Jack believes the story. What I said in there, I didn't mean it. Didn't mean the bit about the not loving you, eh? I know why you don't want to see the baby. Well we don't know!! Tell us!!
Ah, score!! Sara, you totally kick ass! It is Aaron!

How would Kate become Aaron's mother? How could she pass him off as his own, which is, I assume, the only way a murder suspect would get legal custody (post-Island) of a child, since she wasn't gone long enough to have been pregnant, at least it's doubtful.
So the Oceanic Six are: Kate, Jack, Sayid, Hurley, maybe Ben, and who else?
I would imagine that Claire is dead. Too bad; I'd have liked Jack to know that she was his half-sister.
I will be annoyed if Sun or Jin are killed...
So far, this season is at least more intriguing than the last one. A shame it won't last as long, because of the writers' strike.

I don't think Ben counts as one of the Oceanic 6, actually; not only was he not on the plane, and thus not on the list of possible survivors, but in the ads for last week's episode the voiceover dude said we'd find out the identity, singular, of another member of the Oceanic 6—which ended up being Sayid.

I think it indicates a touch of worrying irritation with yourbecky, but not in any bad way, really. Just make sure to use a dummy grenade, because I doubt she'd be able to keep from talking for too long, even with that motivation. And you have to share an office with her....

The first real disappointment of the season. Should have known it would take a Kate episode to be the season's first screw-up.
How on earth did Kate get probation for the numerous crimes she had committed? Because her mother wouldn't testify? And how on earth did the prosecution's main witness (Diane) get to have a private conversation with the defendant? And Kate gets probation because Diane refuses to testify?
This was a badly written episode that lacked any kind of sense whatsoever.

The prosecution apparently lacked witnesses to support whatever testimony her mother was going to provide. The mother wouldn't testify, citing her illness. When the prosecution doesn't have the ability to prove it's case, it must offer a deal. What the defense attorney said to the prosecutor was dead-on. No jury was going to convict Kate for rescuing her mother from an abuser-especially in light of the evidence provided that she is a hero, blah, blah, blah. In my experience, when you know your case is going down the toilet, you have to do something to save face and get the best deal out of it you can. Hence, the offer of a deal. The defense attorney could have gotten Kate a better deal, actually, since the prosecution had no evidence. I suspect her confinement to the state of CA will end up being problematic for her because she will have to leave and can't without violating probation. Which, btw, is a very long probationary period. It's doubtful the case would even have made it to a jury. The judge was just as likely to dismiss it out of hand if the prosecution couldn't offer any evidence to make their case. So, it made perfect sense to have it end up that way. As to the private conversation, no elected official (the prosecutor, in this case) is going to deny a dying woman the opportunity to speak with her daughter. Whether she's a witness or not. All the prosecutor can hope for is that the mother and daughter don't discuss the particulars of the case. Usually, that would mean one of the staff members of the prosecutor's office would be witness to the conversation. I got the impression that the mother already told the prosecutor she couldn't testify due to illness, so it made no difference anyway.

From the ever-helpful lostpedia:
Episode Name
Egg-town is a pejorative term that refers to the days of bartering, during the Great Depression. A traveling salesman would have to barter his candy or tobacco or shoelaces for different commodities. A poor exchange would be for eggs, a relatively common item that is also highly perishable. Nobody wants to trade for eggs from a traveling salesman because they have their own, so the salesman who accepted an egg in exchange was forced to accept a bad deal. Salesmen would use the term like "If I were you I would stay away from Bogart. That's an egg-town." Of course, the lack of trust among salesman was also high, and it was likely that one salesman would lie to another about the quality of a town's customers to keep them for himself. Invariably, the second salesman ventures into Bogart only to find it is truly an egg-town. He is either persuaded to not visit a town that has good customers or is tricked into visiting a town that can only offer eggs. The term "egg-town" represents a deal with undesirable outcomes in either case. [source needed]
References in this episode include:
* The inability of Locke to makes any progress with the interrogation of Ben or Miles. * The deal Kate made. She is now forbidden to leave the state and thus can't legally go back to the island for any reason for at least ten years. * The episode starts with literal eggs: Locke preparing an omelet breakfast for Ben. He tells Ben these are the last two eggs. * Kate's preoccupation with the chance that she might be pregnant, and the continuing references to her child in the episode's flashforwards. * Locke's inability to establish any communication with Jacob. * Locke kills a chicken (no more eggs).

teaser
Locke in domestic bliss
eggs and cantelope? that's a pretty meager breakfast.
We're in Room 101 again.
You might catch something you missed the first time round. Meta commentary.
Locke and Ben face off.
Just like old times, except I'm in a different room.
You're more lost than you ever were.
Temper, Locke. Temper!
Domestic bliss, take 2.
Kate and Sawyer. Kate doesn't want to "move in" with Sawyer, and she has her own reason for staying.
Kate and the Marshall. Wait, this isn't the Marshall.
Celebrity status.
Lovers and haters.
Ah, Kate's trial. She pleads not guilty?
She's the very definition of a flight risk. Yes, and hee.
