Since I know the comic will be arriving in S'cubie homes any day now, I figured I'd get this started up. When we know the name of the story I'll just add it in.

Now, I know what everyone expects to be the Oh wow moment. And I know what Buffy’s oh wow moment was. And I like that oh wow moment, indeed. But actually my Oh Wow in this issue was the wolves themselves. Because, wow! True shapeshifter wolfy smoke-becoming people? Cool! And scary! Really rather nicely scary. Ok, OK, back to Buffy’s Oh Wow moment. I think my very favorite bit is everyone walking in on them. ;D Because that’s so completely not the normal Buffy thing of keeping things to herself, not talking to folks, etc. She doesn’t even get the chance to talk or not talk. Everyone, and I mean every single one, just strolls on in like her bedroom is Grand Central Station. By the time Dawn is peeking thru the window and Willow falls thru the ceiling I was in total and complete giggles. I'll be interested to see how this plays out, because I don't thing they're gonna do a "Buffy is gay now" story. Plus, there's the always entertaining spectacle of Buffy and relationships. Because she's always kinda dorky and fun to watch. Speaking of dorky and fun to watch, I love love love the Xander plot here. Finally asking Renee out on a date (OK, he's being told to ask her out and going along with the plan, which is just about par for the Xander course). And I loved the bees thing. Thinking the wolves might be a swarm of bees and then, what do you know, Dawn did run into a swarm of bees. "My burning, beautiful eye" is an instant classic Xander line. But most of all? How completely and totally funny it is that he has to head off to see Dracula again?! Heeeee!!! So, a funny and wacky and sexy and adventure-y start to this most recent run of issues. And the new villians are cool and snarky and scary and can turn into kitties! They're a Japanese vampire goth gang! What can be better than that?

I liked that the comic is getting around to issues pertaining to Buffy's sexuality, because that's one of the things I was most looking forward to. At least, I assume that her one night stand with Satsu is going to be an opening for her working out her issues.

Thanks for sharing this, Sue. Here I was, chewing my lip and worrying that Joss was getting all PC on us, and compromising his story by forcing an artificial relationship into it, just to try to appease the "you did Tara wrong!" fans. But then: And what of Satsu’s fate? “We’re not going to dump her off the face of the earth, unless we kill her, because we love to kill characters,” Mr. Whedon said in jest. “If we do, don’t worry, she’ll probably come back as a ghost.” More seriously, he said, “She’s in the rotation.” But then he added, “For as long as she can live.”and: You have to be responsible, but you also have to be irresponsible or you’re not telling the best stories.Ah, Joss - you're still the one!

At least, I assume that her one night stand with Satsu is going to be an opening for her working out her issues. I would think so. Not that I expect her to never have questions or times that she struggles in the future, but she I think she could use some time spent thinking about what she really wants and needs. And not just with an oddly insightful but evil vamp psychiatrist.

You've got to be responsible to the story you're telling, which may feel irresponsible to some of your readers, but . ..

I'm enjoying the heck out of many of the aspects of this season, especially the kinds of stories that can be told without any sort of budgetary restrictions.
That said...how exactly does a one-eyed man get a license to fly a helicopter...much less in a few months' time?
I mean, it's super cool and all, but sheesh...:-)

OMG. The scene after everyone barges in on Buffy and Satsu had me actually laughing out loud. It was so vintage Buffy and captured so well, I could picture the actors onscreen doing the very same thing. ;D
I'm looking forward to Xander's interaction with Drac. This should be fun. I like the continuity of it, too.

I just figure that Willow magic-ed up some paperwork.
